THANK Y'ALL for sharing this. I'm getting ready to have partial knee surgery and certainly this helps with the anxiety.

This guy is my brother from another mother. My backround, lifestyle, and history are almost identical. The video is very accurate as to the hospital process. I think he left out the footage of the PT evaluation right after surgery, where they actually have you stand up, put weight on the leg, and then see what your flexion is. I believe the PT therapist has to OK that you are able to go home . I am now at day 7 of my partial knee, and doing extremely well. I used the walker for 2 days, then switched to double canes, and then went solo ( no cane ) on day 6. So far , so good. Its important to note that the first 2 days are the honeymoon phase, because the residual painkillers make you think you are homefree with little to no pain. At days 3 - 4 , the pain can kick in , but if you know its coming, you can deal with it with Tylenol ( or OXY if bad ) . I am looking forward to getting stronger so I can get back out in the yard and get all the spring chores done.

Currently in hospital just after having partial knee replacement on Thursday afternoon, the pain kicked in Friday afternoon, never experienced pain like this before, hopefully will improve so I can put more effort into the exercises. Saturday afternoon feeling very very tired, slept for most it. A friend had a total knee replacement not long ago and she could walk on it with crutches no problem. I guess everyone has a different experience.

Thank you for sharing your story. At 45 years old I was told I needed a knee replacement but I have put it off until now. I'm 5 months away from 60 now and just can't wait any longer. May you continue to do well Greg.

@ partial knee replacements are less invasive. If they use the robot-assist surgery, it really helps the surgeon. I am four weeks post op, and still feeling weak but doing physical therapy exercises to help strengthen my knee. It is a long healing process, but I am glad I got it done.

Great video! Thank you so much for sharing your experience. I’m going to have a partial replacement on my left knee soon. I can’t wait to get past my current pain. At this point, it’s controlling my life. Once again, thank you. 🙏

@ Hey there. It went amazingly well. I had the surgery on 7/11, and from when I woke up from the surgery to today, I had minimal pain. I did my ice and PT as directed to and it all worked out great. I need my other knee done as well and I have no worries about it now.

I'm 73 and had a double partial knee replacement 9 weeks ago. I'd love to know how much medication was prescribed to Greg when he was discharged. I was under medicated and spent two of the worst weeks of my life, post op until they increased the Oxy. Getting up from a sitting position is still painful but feels fine when I walk. Everyone seems to do so well in these videos, but it's been a REAL struggle for me.

Hope you are well on the recovery road now.... I'm 74 and going to have my second knee replacement next week...not something to look forward to, a lot of pain and readjustment but, hopefully, after recovery I shall be fit again...busy in my garden, playing with the grandchildren ....

my wife had partials done in both knees...two years later and she was still in pain...surgeon who recently did a full replacement for her said he was the main guy doing partials at Penn State's Hershey Medical Center for years. Said he won't do them anymore given the disappointing success rate.

There are many factors that affect success rates. Partials are still right for many people and have had very successful recoveries. I personally have had both knees done.

I too had a partial done almost 5 months ago.I am able to take high intensity spin classes and weight train about 4 times a week.I am hoping to start running again in may and also started hiking at the 3 month mark.I am 66 yrs old and went into surgery in good shape. It seems like everyones experience is different, just dont blame it on the procedure.
