I've been wanting an EC-1000 for years man, how are they? Also, good cover man.

Thanks man! I have multiple EC-1000's and I would never replace them! hands down the best Les Pauls made.

What pick ups are those? Do you think the guitar can handle Drop A tuning?

Oh ya, the EC-1000 can definitely handle drop A tunings. I have seen EC's as low as drop G. ESP makes EC-1000 models with floyd rose bridges that can lock in drop A tuning piece of cake! The original pickups were EMG's but I pulled them out and replaced the bridge with a Gibson Burstbucker pro and the neck with a Seymour Duncan Jazz.

Well what do you think about the EC1000T CMT? It's the ESP EC1000 but with DiMarzio PAF 36th Anniversary (B & N) pickups. Would those sound good in Drop A? Or stick with EMG. I just love the Gold Pick Up look. www.zzounds.com/item--ESPEC1000CTMD?siid=132733&gclid=Cj0KEQiAz7OlBRDErsTx47LKz-8BEiQAY0OlYj1L08a-x2TRS2a7DrQ7-L58s3QcN1Vd-Ebnim4H8IgaAjsY8P8HAQ

Jessica Guthas I actually have a CTM and love mine! I bought mine when they only offered EMG's. So I ripped them out and put in Gibson 490R and 490T passive PU's in it. Sounds killer! the main difference between the 1000 and 1000CTM is the body thickness and the amount of frets. (22 vs 24). So the neck feels longer on the 1000 vs the 1000CTM and holds lower tuning better than the CTM will. You could do drop A with both guitars, you'll just need heavier gauge strings (13-56). Metal probably wont sound as good with passive pickups (DiMarzio PAF) than it would sound with EMG's which are active. But EMG does make gold pickup covers.
