if I remember correctly it was once referenced in the books that magnus deep down was always searching for THE one who will give up his immortality for so they can grow old together. since we know alec is the one for him it wouldn't be overdramatic to imagine that magnus does that in the future, at least let's pretend for my sanity

And for all of you commenting about Magnus's age and not being alive when Michelangelo was....in 3x02, Alec says, "800 year old warlock", so he is was born c. 1200 - making him ~300 when Michelangelo was alive. (in the books, he is closer to 400 yrs old - Cassandra Clare confirmed he was born on Dec. 8, early 1600s)
