Sometimes tutorials like this, especially when they're sponsored, reccomend beginners the most expensive and OTT tools that 90% of people don't need. I'm glad to see this list doesn't do that! A very sensible set of reccomendations. The only thing I'd reccomend here is a set of drill bits, especially one that covers the 3mm mark. Great for using when you're pinning parts together using runners.

If you look at the spruce you will see that it connects to the part as a trapezoid. Two side will have angles, and two will not. Cut it on the flat side if possible. Sometimes with PG and RG that isn’t easy, but it will save you from stress marks, requires very little effort or patience, and will save you from “snapping” of the parts. This works 100% of the time and I’ve never seen anyone touch on this. Hope it helps.

I cut a big chunk of runner off with the piece, cut the nub chunk in half along that flat plane you mentioned, and them snip the remainder down to a sliver that I remove with a scalpel.

Good info here. A lot of room for variation considering the wealth of different brands there are, so if you can't access some of these because of your location, there's probably something that's available to you.

You got the order reversed for the Mr Mark Setter/Softener. The Setter (blue bottle) is used first. NEVER use Softener (green bottle) first. It will turn your decal to mush. The decal needs to be in position before using Softener. Great channel. I love your stuff.

One thing with regard to the hobby knife, there are other options that might be better than hobby knives. You want a sharp, strong blade with a smaller width to let you get into things, which hobby knives do fit, but a common xacto also fits, but a lot of people can find those uncomfortable...my preference is the smaller sized retractable utility knife with replaceable blades. You really want something that you can hold comfortably for use, and a lot of the utility knives have more comfort in mind due to their intended use and cut really well, for the same price as a mid quality craft knife, you can normally find a really good utility knife in a hardware store. Another thing that is really good for customizing gunpla (or repairing them) is to have some real glass or metal containers (small jars are great if you have them, you just DO NOT WANT PLASTIC for this) and some of the ultra-thin plastic glue...with simple joining or repairs use a bit of your runners/sprues from the part or parts if they're the same color or don't worry if you're going to paint it, but a bit of the glue with some chopped up bits of the sprues until it melts, then brush it on and into gaps and let it harden up for a bit. It'll fuse your pieces together and fill a lot of gaps, then sand it as you would with anything else. I would also say that soapy water is something you'd probably want as well. If you're planning on painting, wash the plastic off in the water even briefly. Normally, Bandai is really good at cleaning off the sprues, but several older kits or just some slipping through and the mould release agent can screw you up in the long run. And a small spray bottle with soapy water can also be useful with certain decals Also, a bit of gloss or high gloss polyeurethane is very useful to have, you can do some minor repair on transparent parts with it if they have minor scuffing, scratches, or similar with a thin coat of it

Say I want to make a custom gunpla part that shares an element of 2 parts that requires me to cut a huge chunk of plastic and fuse them together. What’s the recommended tool to use to make a clean cut on something that has a lot of plastic and what’s a recommended tool to use for something more delicate where I don’t want to shatter or crush or deform a piece of plastic?

As someone who has painted models for about 12 years, you’ve got most of the basics and stuff covered. In one of your videos you say that persuading with cans, you don’t think can be done. Coming from a warhammer side, zenithal sharing can be done with cans and is one of the best preshading techniques out there. You just have to be careful with your angels and layering.

I picked up that scribe with the red handle before and maybe it was just the one I got but the tip of the chisel wasn't flat so cuts were off when when I held it straight. The sizes of the engravers were also not correct. Payed $50. It was good to practice a little with but I think people might be better off investing a little more into some nicer chisels. A few months after that I found some madworks chisels and a handle on ebay for $110 cad for almost a whole set. It cost almost double the first engraver I got but I have almost twice as many chisel sizes and the quality is much nicer. Investing in better quality tools the first time might save you more money in the long run. Happy building everyone!
