as a newbie this was the first submission I pulled!!! I put someone training for years in triangle position but obviously as a newbie I have no idea how to finish a triangle...so I end up doing this!

Been subscribed for ages, love your videos but just wanted to thank you for this one in particular because it's so useful / such a wake-up call 👍 👍 (as someone who's got probably 100s of taps with triangle chokes but 0 that I can remember with omoplata....)

Thank you so much for this! I have short legs and I've always struggled with the Triangle Choke. This helps me out a ton because it gives me another option if I can't get the choke.

Great video. I am definitely one of those with short muscular legs that has a hard time doing the leg triangle choke. I do the omoplata a lot instead. That is a great entry. I love the combat version particularly.

Main reason I'm looking into this is because the majority of my leg triangles (As a 2 stripe white belt I SUCK at leg triangles) turn into belly down armbars. When the armbar fails, I try a second transition into omoplata which 50% of the time ends up with me in side control and 50% of the time ends up with my opponent in side control. I spoke with one of my sensei's and he recommended skipping the belly down armbar and switch straight from the leg triangle attempt to the omoplata. This video DEFINITELY helps. Any fellow practitioners are more than welcome to offer additional advice and opinions. And yes I know I need to work on my leg triangle, lol.

Good point to bring up omoplata's for short legs awsome!!

Thanks Stephan, very useful video. I have this problem, my legs are too short and is very hard for me to finish a triangle chock against biggest opponents with big shoulders. I often end up finish them with omoplata

Today this exact technique was done beautifully by a blue belt guy. It looked so easy and skill full from triangle to omapalata

After reviewing Danaher's "trimura" series, I would elect the wrist lock, arm bar, kimura before abandoning the position for the Omoplata. When compared to the control offered by the triangle position, the omoplata gives too much space for escape. Clarke Gracie I am not! Please note that I am a blue belt. Concious incompetence phase.

Can somebody recommend a good BJJ gym in the area of Toronto, Canada? With my Google prowess I can only find Japanese Judo schools, which isn't what I'm looking for.

Try to improve movements like shrimping , rolling , bridgind , etc. cuz is the only thing that you can do.Neither a grappling dummy is enough to really feel what training jiu jitsu is.

I personally just visualize as much as I'm able and perform the movement on the air like shadow boxing... I also took some tape and put it on a yoga mat kind of in the shape of a person for my top game not the greatest way but it works kind of.
