You may have found this out by now (if you did you can ignore this) the axle ratio 3.42 is the gears on your truck according to they make, year, and model info you input into the tuner. The tuner offers this function in case you decide to change your gears from a 3.42 to say a 4.10 gear ratio so it can calibrate the rest of the tune accordingly. If you want to see a big change in low end torque that 4.10 gear swap is essential. You still get decent gas mileage as the gear is very streetable especially with the size tires you have on your truck, and while you are under there I'd swap out to a 2800-3000 rpm stall converter as well. With just those two changes you can see huge gain in low end power and still cruise the freeways of SoCal with no problem with decent gas mileage.
@MOTOPILOT63 жыл бұрын
Awesome info. What is a stall converter?
@ryankobayashi133 жыл бұрын
@@MOTOPILOT6 If you have an automatic transmission, it is the connection point between the transmission and the engine (more precisely the flex plate on the engine) you probably have seen them before they kinda look like big doughnuts. They work on hydraulic pressure where they build hydraulic pressure as engine RPMs increase engaging the converter and transmission as the pressure builds, certain pressure they lock the transmission up to the motor generally close or at the point where the motor starts getting into its max hp range. Factory torque converters are set at a notoriously low RPM range (say 1200-2000 RPM). Locking the trans to motor outside of the motors HP building range on the low end which causes you to have to push the gas pedal down further while the engine lugs trying to get off the line or pull a load. A higher streetable stall conv (2800-3000) will help get the truck moving sooner allowing the motor get a lot closer to its hp building range with much less pedal especially on a mostly stock or all stock truck motor.

if you have all that goin on get a lew tune (custom tune from Diablo Lew)
@02mp96963 жыл бұрын
Go with a custom tune. These trucks are rich from factory, and a can tune that these have a general tune for all 5.3 /6.2. They are not all the same. And you can fine tune the trans better then the options you have. Also, leave the torque management on. It protects the trans. Diablew does them, its who i went with. Its 100 times better when you can data log in regular driving situations. Not WOT all the time. Drivabiity is important. Also having long tubes, exhaust, a good intake, cat delete is the best bang for your buck for hp, if thats what you want. Otherwise its the $$$ route. The tuner by it self is only going to make the trucks drivabiity better, but not knowing the timing/fuel trims. Why some guys are getting knock. A generic tune file. For a idea on times, with 3 in level 2" rear, 33s, 4x4, 3.42 gears, 6 speed, double cab, full tank, 91 tuned, i3 diablew tunned, and just the afe wet intake, carven r duel exhaust and my 290lbs ass, just so ya have all the info, lol does 1/4 at 15.46 @88.74. When I was returning the truck I punched the accelerator at a traffic light and I was shocked that it burned Rubber and threw me back into the seat like I was driving an old 60s muscle car. I have a 2014 silverado 1500 lifted 6 inches with 35x12.5 tires. What's the best tune for power and gas mileage ???
@obs4life2282 жыл бұрын
Bro I just bought one of these. I tuned to the flex 91/93 octane tune. Turned up idle 100 rpm. Set the tires at 34.5 to fix Speedo. Throttle response at 15 percent. Afm turned to off. And on trans tune I did modify stock and just cut torque management off. It’s a big difference I’m get around 16-19 mpg on the highway depending on how I drive the truck and higher on the interstate. At first I did the firm shift but that felt like I was going to screw trans up even after modifying the rpm’s and shift feel it still didn’t feel right so I went back to just modify stock with torque management off. Trust me do this you won’t be disappointed… if you do throttle response to 20 you’ll feel it but you’ll also watch gas go away quicker. I’m on 325/60/20 tires your tires I’d probably put in 34.. if you do 35 speedo will still be off
