Keegan said in the post-comp interview that he is just broken, has had to go to physio every single day to keep him going and he wants to be there for his kids. What makes this competition even more emotional is that Keegan is a descendant of the first Japanese immigrant in Canada so to have his last competition skate in Japan is very meaningful ♥

@@yeetfailure1017 It wasn't clear in his interview whether he said WTT or no WTT, the way the interview was going made it sound like no but he's still listed. After doing some SOI shows in Japan I hope he decides he will so he can have a redemption skate.

To me his six quad layout aswell as costume(blue rocketman lol) just felt like Nathans early fase where he just banked on technical to get medals. A great Ice Dance pair to root for is the Estonian/French team, the guy had dropped the girl and she had to go through a really difficult brain surgery to stay alive. This years worlds was their first competition of the season and they didn't do fantastic, but she actually recovered so well despite her having to learn to walk again a few months prior. She was brave, wasn't scared of the ice and they really gave it their all. Nothing stopping them now!

Out of the six 2019/20 junior gp finalists, only Haein Lee is competing internationally, and three have retired from singles skating or are recovering from injuries (not to mention potentially being banned for doping). She’s a survivor who keeps improving, showing that focusing on technique and artistry over ultra c is more sustainable. Hopefully the judges are becoming more accustomed to good technique and presentation - the Malinin scores seem to indicate that this is the direction in which skating is moving. I really enjoyed watching this competition, it seemed more artistic and more considered - shades of Kim Yu Na throughout. Also, no big dramas - nice to focus on the sport. I really got the impression that everyone was supporting everyone to do well.

I looved this years worlds, especially the mens. It was a perfect showcase of experience and quality outlasting big technical prowess. (Ilia placing 3rd despite such technical advantage). And also showing that sometimes consistency is more important than the biggest baddest jumps. Jason is osmeone I constantly point towards when teching my skaters because he's just sooo consistant while also showing such amazing quality and a different kind of skill that he places that high in the world champinoships "without a quad" and I just think that's so important these days.

🙋‍♀️ Hi from 🇨🇦. Thank you for mentioning Keegan Messing's retirement from competitive skating. 👏❤ Yes he won 🇨🇦 Nationals for the 2nd year. Yes his worlds free skate; was his final competitive skate. He struggled with being distracted because he was emotional over it being his last; also because he just became a father for the second time. He will still do some shows; in-between training to be a firefighter in Alaska. He will be missed 😭 FYI 🇨🇦 did make the podium in Ice Dance. Piper Gillas and Paul Poirer captured Bronze 🥉. After missing nationals and 3 months of training because Piper had an emergency appendectomy 👏

Ilia was playing the quality of being tired in his long program (of which the lyrics are "I'm tired")...which robbed the program of the tension it needed, and didn't give him a lot of actions needed to fill the music, or let his body talk to the music. It would have given the program the tension it needed by skating the OPPOSITE of being tired, such as actions to fight that feeling.

Jin Boyang, I feel like, will give us a solid comeback next season. He is with Brian, recovered and has his jumps. Keegan retiring literally had me unravel on Twitter, since no more Keegan Kiss&Cry baby pic updates and general high energy life loving skater. ALSO I would like to point out Keegan outlasted Hanyu - sit with that for a moment. Jason Brown literally in my eyes is showing the world what skating is and it should not be a jump festival. Literally he is holding up skating what it used to be. Malinin being 3rd was not shocking to me. Honestly I wouldn't even let him onto the podium with his PCS scores, but this season has shown that his jumps save him. HOWEVER I am super intrigued to see what he brings next season as he talked about working on artistry. Junhwan should have places first - his short should have been over 100p and literally he did clean twice. But well judges. However it was beautiful to see him deliver two solid performances and has now confidence so. Shoma literally fought for his medal and I wouldn't want to know the pressure that was on him. Kaori and Haein literally are the lights of my life at this point!!!

Daniel Grassl's first language is probably German, given his background, but I'd be shocked if he weren't at least proficient in Italian as well. Südtirol/Alto Adige is a multilingual part of Italy. Anyway, totally agree that his relationship with Eteri seems incredibly cold and distant... mostly on her part. 🥶 Maybe she's just salty she only has boys in international comps rn?

i live in italy, and although i live in the center-southern part i can tell you that in the north, german and italian are mostly treated as both primary languages rather than one of them being secondary. some schools in the north teach both italian and german as well.

Great video and thanks for the recap! Can't believe I missed watching this! Isn't it nice we don't have to see Russia's face or deal with them either? I find it so refreshing! Feels like for once, other countries can win and shine on a fair playing field. Awesome to see a Belgian skater and see Korea make the podium in both mens and womens too!

Levito didn't achive the best free skating of her life, she FALL on the first 3Lutz (her best was at US championships). Leona Hendrickx fall on the same element, but you can't compare the quality of jumps and skating skill. Leona is a top and complete skater, Levito has to work for 2 or 3 ages to fill the gap on PCS (and she's overscored in my opinion, she is lucky to be in the USA team, a European lady can't recieve the same amount of score). Better than Levito and Leona, we had Chaeyeon Kim, the 3rd free skate overall without falls (Leona 4th, Levito 5th). But Chaeyoun did a bad short program (12th), so no medal for her. Guess Levito the best for the future, she is cute and she has a lot of potential, but she have to work hard on skating skills and better toe-pick jumps. I hope her high PCS won't distract her from her weak points. Levito is a good skater, we have to be patient and wait for a normal grow instead of burn her with too much expectations. I'm sure a constant and slow grow (2-3 years) will make her a star, not a meteor.

So...nobody is going to mention that a very loved north american skater (which is retiring after this season) just got accused of sexual assault by someone on twitter?? I see a lot of people still praising him. I was doing that too before the allegations and i fell sick knowing how I fell for him. P.S. the victim didn't mention his name so I won't either. But I think everyone knows who I am talking about
