I fucking love this guy, he is incredibly talented. With that being said I can't name a single song of his. I'm fully gonna admit, I'm ass at drumming and don't deserve to talk about this. I am an ant under this dudes shoe skill wise. This is simply my take and I bow to this mans hard work and dedication to his craft. I dont want to bad mouth, it's not out of disrespect. He is in top 10 most skilled drummers I've ever seen. When I think of the greatest drummers they were all counterparts. Part of a whole. Meaning they complimented a band with original music, grooves, beats of their own. The talent of musicians these days is fucking out of this world like never before, but I still havent heard a good new song in years it feels like. The answer to that is always that I'm not looking hard enough, but I've scoured for years and still can't find a modern daily driver. I love drummers, I love drumming, but more than that I love when a drummer comes up with a piece that compliments a song. A song that I'd be happy to listen to daily. Maybe I'm just hard to satisfy. This guy has hundreds of videos of covers and jaw dropping stick work, but I cant point to a single song and go oh yeah this is my favorite of his. I guess I say all this to say aside from my jealousy, I'm just desperate for new, good music. It just seems, kinda like in politics, everyone just decides to take an extreme. The greatest musicians are in either the heaviest of metal bands, or the poppiest of the pop, or even funk. When you think of John Bonham its Moby Dick and Rock and Roll. Neil Peart Tom Sawyer, YYZ. Keith Moon Wont get Fooled Again, etc. Danny Carey Schism. Obviously I have a type, a genre that is long gone. I'm sure everyone would choose different drummers and songs, insert your favorite drummer here. For El Estepario all I can say is, well he did a sick cover of if Toxic by Brittney Spears was written by System of a Down. And it was fucking nasty. I'm just desperate for a rock and metal renaissance that will never happen I guess. This sounds brain dead but I'll take fuckin Ringo Starr over Estepario cause I can throw on 60 different songs Ringo Starr is a part of and most people will enjoy them. Again, the skill is out of this fucking world. Im waiting on something i could bang my head to, tap my foot to, dance, sing, anything. There are thousands of youtube drummers and guitarists out there that are absolutely mind boggling in terms of skill. I dont know an original song any of them are a part of. Ill put most of that blame on me for being picky and not spending every second of my day desperately searching for a band. Im just hoping someone comes out soon and smacks me right in the face with a great album. It's long overdue with the talent that is out there in the world right now.
