Might want one for the novelty value but I can't imagine who'd NEED one. Not much real world use for a folder this big. Now a folding saw of similar size might be practical, I believe Opinel makes those too.

There isn't even a number 1, but yes, 2-7 are smaller than that. For a long time 12 was the biggest, this is was only made for retail displays, but people really wanted it, so it became the 13.

now one thing , large folding blades ussualy are ussualy even or larger in handle to blade size , making them having long handles , and slightly shorter blades , this essentialy makes them polearms ,folding blades of massive size are NOT folding Swords , rather folding Axes or Glaives

I have the 4" version. Good blade. Affordable. Not many uses though. And the type of locking mechanism they use is garbage and always comes loose. But it's a good stick carving knife lol

I've got the opinel No12 and the No8 ,with the carbon steel blades ,and they are sharp ,and easy to keep sharp, the No8 I use for everyday carry because it's so light and the blade locks well great for slicing tomatoes apples etc, I don't use the No12 much, stays in my tool box mostly but it is a serious knife ,also light and strong ,the only issue I have is when the wood gets wet it tends to swell making it difficult to open sometimes, but because of how good these blades are I overlook that slight hiccup

I have the No 8s both carbon steel and stainless steel versions and also the No12 ,the No13 is just to big I couldn't see any purpose for it, the carbon steel versions keep a much better edge the the stainless versions ,and all opinels come very sharp out of the box ready for work, I find the No8 the perfect size for edc ,you can go much smaller but I believe under No5 they do not have a blade lock, but don't quote me on that,

I have the 13! It's great! Unfortunately I used it for chopping(which it was actually awesome at) but it ended up with about a thumb sized dent in the blade and a notch in the collar. 😢

All of a sudden someone made one of these as a sample or for a show or something and they have just taken off, no joke it wasent but just a few months ago I saw the first one. But it is a great idea if you make knives, get a big one made so it attracts attention but then you can show that knife to the customers and it will be easier for them to look at the whole knife and the details since it’s 20x the size, or they will just use it like a samurai sword and chop your arm off.
