I was in Japan the first two weeks of November. The best things I got for myself there is a book in a Samurai museum in Kyoto. The book is called "The Night Parade of One Hundred Demons: a Field Guide to Japanese Yokai". In Tokyo I got a cool looking hat, a mixture between a light beanie and one of those hats with the ear cover flaps. Currently my most favorite hat. I'm quite but not extremely minimalist person, so I didn't bring back much more than photos, videos and memories. I'm so excited to return this Fall, but this time for 3-6 weeks. I went for 10 days. This was my first time ever traveling. I went alone, 5600 miles from home. The only time I was terrified were the 2 hours in my home airport and the two hour flight to LAX

my japan edc was always: - pocket wi-fi - external battery - osmo pocket - sony rx100 or leica t (depending on the day) - conbini onigiri and sandoichis to get me through the day (saves time ordering food if it's already in your bag)

I was tempted by an pocket wifi, but we ended up buying an esim out there for data and it was perfect!

1:01 You can get MagSafe cases where the circle ⭕️ pattern isn’t visible, I have a few. The pattern is on the inside with, presumably, a very thin layer where the circle is on the outside. Apple’s Silicon and (late) leather cases come to mind.

Japan was such a thrill to visit and I loved seeing that you and I went to several of the same places. As for EDC I picked up my Leica M3 at Map Camera in Shinjyuku. I also had a large bag with me and picked up a shopping bag made of Parachute material so when I didn't use it I just rolled it up. I also found several wrist straps to replace my straps on my p&s and light meter. Loads of great shopping there.

I just used a proxy shopping service to purchase a Plotter from Japan while the Yen is very weak. It’s cheaper than purchasing from the US store. With the service fee I got the horse hair bible for $114. As long as the shipping to me is less than $50, I will have saved money.
