Love the magnet tray. I’ve been interest in the fabric covered flower pots. I am so grateful that you had that demonstrated. Love how you measured the fabric to fit. I would never figured that out. Thanks a bunch you are always very entertaining as you craft.

Cute! As I was watching I was thinking that tying all the arms and leg strings in thru the pots may be easier? Not sure, but your project is adorable! TFS 💝
@ThisSouthernGirlCan6 жыл бұрын
+Teresa Hulse you can do it whichever way you like. I provide the basic principles, then leave it up to others to tweak it as they see fit. Depending on how thick the yarn/twine is you’re using, it can cause a gap between the large pots when you glue them together if the yarn/twine is run between them. I myself prefer drilling holes in the pots with a masonry bit, but mine is still packed away at the moment. Thank you for liking it.

are you going to do any more of these clay pot people? I hope so this one is so cute is the string you use strong enough to hold the arm and leg? what can you use to spray after you paint them to make them shine and seal the paint so it wont come off?
@ThisSouthernGirlCan6 жыл бұрын
If you're going to use these outside, then you can use a clear, spray on sealant from Krylon. It's in the spray paint section at WalMart. Craft stores carry it as well, but it will cost less at WalMart. It's just called 'Krylon Sealer'. Yes, the string I used is very strong. I've been making these for years, and the string is fine. It is cotton yarn, and is very durable.

I do have an Etsy shop, but until I can get all of my craft supplies out of storage, I have my shop closed. I got far behind on a few orders because of the sudden move, and I don't want anyone to place an order and then me not be able to fulfill it right away.

This is SUCH A CUTE IDEA FOR MOTHER'S DAY!! I now know what I'm making for our Fire Dept. Mother's Day Dinner to sell at our bake table! For others, a base coat of Killz (or any white paint) on those pots you won't need as many coats of another color. I also think the paint for clay pots is a little thicker & you can use fewer coats but it's probably more expensive. And an FYI for everyone, right now Walmart has several sizes of clay pots at less than a $1 each. I'm a sucker for succulents (pun intended!) & I always like to keep a few extra clay pots around for them (2 cats that get the "fritzies" aren't always kind to clay pots & clay pots are good for succulents since they dry out quickly) & I just picked up several different sizes at Walmart for 97 cents or less.
@ThisSouthernGirlCan6 жыл бұрын
Yes, Kilz is great for painting. I used it extensively when remodeling houses. (and I've been known to use it as a base for oil painting on canvas when I ran out of gesso.)The light blue acrylic only needed 2 coats. The iridescent color I used as an accent is as thin as water, and even with the light blue base underneath it, it needed several coats to look the way I wanted it to. (Blue, as a general rule, needs more opaque additives than other colors depending on whether or not it is manufactured using potassium aluminum silicate or chromium oxide.) There are other colors in that collection that do not need as many. This particular paint doesn't contain as much oxide, and is fairly transparent. Yes, paint that is designated for clay pots is a bit more expensive, mostly because it is labeled for sole use on pottery, and actual glaze is even more costly. There is also a clear sealant you can use for terra cotta, but it costs a bit as well.
@JasonLeeIsAGod6 жыл бұрын
That makes me crazy too, having to do more than 1 or 2 coats. It always happens when you're trying to do some quickie thing too, you think it'll take 2 coats tops then after you do 5 & it still needs 2 more coats you've wasted more time painting it than making it or putting it together.
@ThisSouthernGirlCan6 жыл бұрын
Exactly! I love this color, and I was stoked to try it out, I just wish the formula was thicker fore the blue. They have a really pretty reddish pink color that I like. And the green is pretty. They have an orange too, but they were sold out. I want to try all of them lol
