A few months ago I was at a gig, and we found ourselves needing some extra time to fill.
You know the drill - when in doubt, gotta "call" the blues, am I right?
In this video, I've added some annotations to give you a peek into my thought process while playing.
We're playing a simple 12-bar blues in Bb, using chords I, IV, and V.
Things get interesting when, around 1:17, the guitarist throws in a "Quick 4."
(A "Quick 4" is where you play the 4 chord on the 2nd bar of the form).
You'll see me clock this and then next time the form comes around I switch to playing the "Quick 4" to match what the guitarist is playing.
The video was just taken with my phone so I tried using the software Moises to boost my bass in the mix. It did a good job apart from it couldn’t pick up some of the higher notes up the neck.
Enjoy!
