This is the prisoner Luigi AU, in which Luigi gets captured and is held prisoner by bowser after he and Mario have a fight. Mario has luigi’s hat because Luigi lost it while getting captured. Four months have gone by with no sign of Luigi, and a majority of the kingdom believes that luigi’s dead, but Mario is convinced he’s still alive.
