Coming from NixOS - I'd been really tentative to try any "guix install" style of package management. This has set me much more at ease, and will stop me bricking my next install. Thank you.

Why it does not show the dependencies of the our installed packages? How can I see the full list of all installed packages + all their dependencies (like in traditional package managers)? BTW, why it does not ask for confirmations at all? Even when you are about to remove a package? I know that there are generations and the concept of rollbacks, but it would be nicer if it asked for confirmation to avoid extra work of rolling back.

Guix sounds so cool! I hope to learn it and use it together with some Guile magic. Thanks for this videos.

I agree. Prior to this video, I didn’t know you could use regexes for package search. Super useful!

35:50 it says "No space left on device" so you do not have any more space on the device it wanna install it to. and if thats the root partition then if your unlucky you cant boot your system anymore. So check that

@@SystemCrafters I see this video. But, i have another problem. Guix don't see my notebook wifi device. This problem also occurred during installation. But I used a usb Wi-Fi adapter. After installation, GuiX did not see the USB Wi-Fi adapter and the Wi-Fi device. What can I do in this situation? P.S: I have Windows and Slackware installed nearby. And Wi-Fi is working there.

@@SystemCraftersHello again. I think I've figured out what the problem is. I am currently using the new Acer Aspire A315-59G. In the morning I tried to install everything on the old Acer Aspire ES1-571-31J2, and everything worked. Apparently, support for such equipment has not yet been added. Thanks

Can I install proprietary drivers in guix ?
@SystemCrafters Жыл бұрын
Check the Nonguix repo for the drivers you need, that's the place where all the proprietary stuff is added

What's that symbol in your shell prompt? Some sort of indian word?
@SystemCrafters3 жыл бұрын
That's the "om" symbol which you often see linked to Buddhism (probably other faiths too). I put it there to remind myself to be a little more mindful of what I'm doing. Now I don't even see it because I don't pay attention :)
I guess it didn't occur to me that the lambda is what they were referring to :)

You keep apologizing for how long your videos are. I think it's impossible for your videos to be too long! But maybe as a Hungarian, I have an unusual perspective. We have a Hungarian movie, which is 7.5 hours long: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/S%C3%A1t%C3%A1ntang%C3%B3 ;D You are giving answers to exactly those questions what a newcomer - who is otherwise experienced - might ask!
