I'm left handed and I play a right handed guitar, upside down, without switching the strings. I'm self taught and just did what felt right/ made sense and then years later realized that's not how that works and that there was such a thing as a lefty guitar. I guess I was just so used to having to translate the world as a lefty that I assumed guitar would be the same. I'm now a music therapist and play every day with clients.

I'm surprised during their research of handedness that they didn't come across the fact that the proportion of left-handed baseball players is higher than the rest of the population, because there are lots of right-handed pitchers pitching to right-handed batters, so when a left-handed batter comes up they aren't used to it. Whereas the left-handed batter has been playing against mostly right-handed pitchers and IS used to it, so they have a slight advantage.

as a left-handed person who plays guitar: I learned to play a right handed guitar even though it felt unnatural at first, because guitar is such a sharable instrument... once you learn something its hard to unlearn it. imagine not being able to play on almost every guitar even though you know how to just because you learned it "backwards". you very quickly get over your left-handedness anyways... also, I am coincidentally (or not?) an artist😂 it would be interesting to know if there's truth to the "left handed are creative" theory

I'm left handed when I write or draw but when I use cutting tools I'm right handed. If I were batting in a baseball game I would bat right handed. That's how I'm comfortable and can do the things to the best of my ability. Sometimes it's called cross dominant.

Taste is more of a survival/association sensation, I.e. that tastes like something good/bad which is either a learned or inherited experience. Mould is very smelly because we have evolved as a species to identify spoiled food. Its association with cheese and other decadent foods is entirely subjugated because of that instinct.

Side note: I worked at a home improvement store through college and I noticed a much higher than 10% left-handedness when people would sign for their credit cards (especially contractors and folks buying a lot of varied materials), so I also concluded that it was a trend among creative/constructive types.
