Planers are heavy, like really heavy. It's not a tool you want to be lugging around the shop. So I built a mobile cart for my Dewalt DW735. Nothing too fancy, just a simple box made from birch plywood. It features two large drawers and an open area for setting materials. You can never have too much storage in a woodshop. This planer stand will your with most planers or possibly other woodworking tools. Don't forget to grab the free digital plans below.

I cut 1/2" off of the back of the 2 side panels, from the top of the bottom piece to the top of the second stretcher and added a 1/2" panel to cover the rear of the 2 drawers for a neater finished look. Enjoyed building your plan, thanks!

I’m currently adding drawers to my workbench and I’m using 1/2” plywood all the way for my middle and top drawers. But I’ll be using 3/4” plywood for all my bottom drawers since I’ll be storing heavy stuff in those. I think 1/4” for bottoms of drawers are good if you’re not gonna load them up too much. Great build, thanks for sharing! 😎👌🏼

Really enjoy your videos. The background music is rather distracting, would be much better without it. Just curious since you did dados, rabbits for the rest of the joinery would be nicer than pocket holes, don't get me wrong i use pocket holes, just feel like they can be expensive. Brads and glue are my preferred quick drawers. Otherwise rabbits and glue is good. Thanks

Nice job young man! If you have more time than money, you can edge band your plywood end grain and use some scrap solid wood for you handles. Mine still looks great after many, many years.

@EverydayBuilds thanks for the lesson. Your drawer pulls...I had a light bulb moment!!! What if instead of the 45 facing down...turn them upright!!! If you use the french cleat system this will allow us to hang other things off the drawer front based on the project? Obviously not necessary for a planer table but say for work benches! My mind is exploding with possibilities!! Imagine a small work shop that you have to keep things put away for space or maybe a place where you have to make multiple trips back and forth...if you make your handles into French cleats you keep your work surface clear for moving big pieces around instead of shifting things out of your way!

@5:38 ... I also see how easily you could've did those dado's. 😅😅😅 When you were doing the dadoes on the table saw I thought "He must not have a router table, or have much confidence in using a router by hand with a makeshift fence (or a guide rail adapter for a router.) I'm just playing 😂😂 ... I see so many people often overlook their most versatile tool... the router. Personally, I don't even own a tablesaw because everything I do with a table saw is easily done with a tracksaw and router. (I also only have 1 functioning arm and leg, so I don't risk the safety issues a table saw has for people like myself.

I’m a huge fan of a track saw and router. So I totally get it. Definitely more than one way to skin a cat. That’s the beauty of woodworking 😁

@Everyday Builds true ... I just wish these companies would make a *good* left blade track saw (The Kreg is horrible 😢). As a former lefty using a right blade track saw was great. Now, as a full time righty with no left hand, ripping with a right blades is tough. Righties don't know what they've been missing.

Hey thanks for the video and free plans! I built this stand for mine this past weekend. Unfortunately, as my first "furniture" and second overall project, it came out not square. I measured 89.2 degrees in the drawer openings with my digi protractor. Will I need to make special accommodations when assembling some drawers? Or shim the slides somehow? Or will that be good enough? I've never mounted drawers or slides before. It has a slight lean to the right when viewed from the front. Not really visible by the eye, but when putting a square up to it, it becomes noticeable.

You should be fine, I wouldn’t worry about it. Most things are not perfectly square. 👌

Hi. Very nice presentation. I two questions. 1- Do you think this box is strong enough to hold a 100 pounds machine ? 2- Don’t you think the pocket holes for the bottom and the top should have been on the other side ? Screws are going to the end which there is not that much meat. I would appreciate for your comments. Thanks

I was wondering the same. Where is the pressure? At the corners or all across the bottom of the planer? If it's at the corners, then most of the weight is over the sides.

Don't know if you know this or not, but you put your pocket holes on the wrong side. They should be on the outside, not the inside. This way when you put the screw they will be angled to the heart of the panel. The way you did it the screws are angled towards the edge of the panel...eventually the may plow out. see 6:15
@EverydayBuilds
@EverydayBuilds 2 жыл бұрын
Hey, thanks for the comment. I understand what you are saying and agree with you to an extent. But my intent was to hide the pocket holes on the inside of the carcass (pocket holes are ugly). I believe that the combination of pocket holes and wood glue will be plenty strong to hold the joints together. I will let you know how it holds up over time.
@Zamboni-0805
@Zamboni-0805 2 жыл бұрын
@@EverydayBuilds I agree about pocket holes being ugly...I hardly every use them myself. I'm sure it will be okay, but didn't know if you did it on purpose or didn't know. I see a lot of woodworkers installing them that way, and to be honest most don't realize that they are installing them the wrong way. I going to be building a planer stand here in the next week or so and I am probably going to screw in straight and countersink and plug the holes.
@EverydayBuilds

@kevinwang6188
@kevinwang6188 Жыл бұрын
@@Zamboni-0805 What you said is absolutely right. The owner should either have mentioned it in the video or have done it the right way. Doing the pocket hole the wrong way will definitely hurt how much the joint will be able to support.

Looks to flimsy for a planner. Also, it would be nice if it was big enough on the bottom to store the planner when not in use since it a seldom used piece of equipment.
