You missed the drive units gear oil and filter. It's not in the model 3 (2021) user manual and Tesla service (Sterling Va.) didn't know the interval. I saw on utube 30k and 100k. I would think every 50k would do it or you can pay 3-6k to have it replaced at 120k miles.

For Model Y performance the tires can’t be rotated because they’re staggered. Some people suggest moving them from side to side but I don’t see the point in that.

Spark plugs rarely need changing, oil changes, belts are cheap. I like EV but one High Voltage battery issue and your “savings” are right out the window. Most people(sadly) don’t keep a vehicle past warranty anymore. So basically any big issues you might have with an ICE would be covered. The extra up front cost of an EV, home charger installation……I don’t think you”re much further ahead if at all

After market cabin air filters on my 2021 Y performance didn’t work to well against keeping out exhaust fumes out of the cabin. The design is poor because you can see the sunlight coming through the filter. I replaced it with the oem filter which works and keeps outside exhaust fumes from entering the car cabin.

It doesn't make sense to mention costs because it can vary wildly from one shop to another. A lot of this stuff can be done by any shop that is properly equipped. For example, a shop near me does tire rotations for 15 dollars and alignments for 60 dollars. As far as brakes go, I haven't had to do it at all after 50k miles.

Off topic, but something I haven't heard you address is wi-fi connection. I park my M3 in the garage with a strong wi-fi signal and every time I drive away and return, it doesn't automatically reconnect. Each time Tesla sends an update I have to select my network and type in my router extender password. Kind of frustrating. How do I get the M3 to retain my password?
@ProXcaliber7 ай бұрын
This could be because you don't actually have as strong of a signal as you think, or because your extender is limiting access automatically for security reasons. There are a few other reasons this could be happening as well, but I would recommend starting by checking those two things first. Also, what I mean by as strong of a signal as you think, if your extender is getting a weak or poor connection to your main router or access point then all you are doing is amplifying that weak signal.

@ProXcaliber7 ай бұрын
I believe it has an initial check that is required somewhere between 5,000 and 12,000 miles, but after that it is good for the rest of the drive unit's life. That first initial check is likely to get rid of any contaminates from the drive unit being new.

Just lease and do ZERO maintenance.
@ProXcaliber7 ай бұрын
Lease isn't always the best option for everyone. Sure, you have a lower monthly payment, but then you are also constantly making payments. And in the case of Tesla, you can't keep the car after a lease, you HAVE to return the vehicle to them. Personally, I was able to get a good rate on my loan with a decently low monthly payment of 550 dollars a month.
@babaluba9899 Жыл бұрын
10 YEARS car maintenance comparison. Gas car: 5k on Average. Electric car: 10k + (depending of your model, as the battery will die or charge / autonomy will go down in most cases, so you will need to replace it). Than add 2x for car buy cost and fast charge cost, Think about it. Electric is not cheap as they made it look like 10 years ago when they needed to attract people into it :D
@ProXcaliber7 ай бұрын
My electric rate during the night is 6 cents per kWh, and I drive around 50 miles a day. In a Tesla Model 3 long range, I charge my car overnight for less than 2 dollars a night. I do basically no maintenance at all except tire rotations as recommended in the manual, washer fluid, and inspections on other components. This costs me less than 100 dollars every year. In contrast, my previous car, a 2021 Acura RDX which was mostly driven in the city with 21mpg, would cost me 50 dollars a week to fill up. And every six months or sometimes sooner I would need to go in for service which often cost me over 100 dollars. All in all, in a year, I easily save thousands with my Model 3. And this isn't to say that will be the case for everyone, but for me, it has been fantastic and a game changer.
@allelectric13302 жыл бұрын
feel sorry for electric car drivers and future owners. They will simply have to learn the hard way .. as I did. These things are a huge hassle, all those lost hours sitting in those charging stations, huge anxiety, plus a outrageous expense in the long run. Good luck trying to sell a used Electric car with wore out battery modules. You'll find out nobody wants to pay the ridiculous price of batteries ... Batteries are very ... very expensive to replace ( thousands and thousands of dollars) ... and make no mistake, you will be replacing them. These batteries are highly toxic to our environment, with a high potential for disaster to our surroundings. DON'T FOOL YOURSELF and CERTAINLY, DON'T LISTEN TO A SALESMAN , ... LITHIUM BATTERIES ARE NOT GREEN CLEAN ENERGY BY ANY MEANS! ... I wish I knew all this before I bought my car . Do your homework before buying !
