The AUG platform would work really well in it’s ‘automatic rifle’ configuration (long barrel, bipod) with the barrel being so easy to change quickly it seems perfect. Not sure how feasible an frt or binary is however.

Heard a lot of Aussies complain about the reliability of the AUG after they made it the standard individual weapon of the military. Availability of parts in N America for the AUG vs an AR variant LMG would be a major issue unless were talking about a range toy.

Most automatic rifles do not have a quick change barrel system, as it adds weight and complexity, and their role does not require such capability, as a good heavy barrel usually does the job.

I am torn between this upper and a Klien Machining AR-RPK upper. I'd really like a mash up of both of them .

Klein machining 24 inch bull barrel with bipod, red right hands H.M.S system with whatever gas piston system you want and a good Quad Rail. I think that’ll be a good combo

FWIW... would like to see someone throw some tracers through this heavy system in-conjunction-with a rifle team. This would go a long way towards showing the value-added through combined fires. It might inspire a few members of the community to up thier security capabilities.

Well since you mention it, we did use tracers during the night shoot while testing!

Good to see folks thinking about this issue as realistically, the majority of citizens are constrained on purchasing ($$$$) and owning (ATF) a SAW or FN 249. Considered a DDM4V7 Pro for the same purpose. 18" DD CHF S2W barrel and you could just put some gloves on for the heat mitigation. I'm not gun scientist but it seems that the adjustable gas block is a point of failure and the quad rail adds unnecessary weight you wont need if you're not using a laser aiming system. Also, 18" seems to be a better compromise considering you would want it to be a dual purpose DMR/ LMG rifle that excels in accuracy in its DMR role and reliability in its LMG role and is maneuverable as possible indoors.

We have a video on the Heat Mitigation System and deep dive the design of the upper on our youtube, where we cover all the barrel and gas system. This explains a lot and will answer your design questions.

Excellent series of videos. Have you looked at building, developing, a system to use the M122 tripod with your LSW build? Or other tripod systems, current military light weight tripod, hog saddle, MG42 tripods, etc.

@GMRVC1
@GMRVC1 Жыл бұрын
@@redrighthandllcIm not an expert and respect those that are "in the arena" making ideas reality and IMHO this is an awesome concept. That being said, if the mission is full time light machine gun we should go 20"+ barrel, carry handle, and M60 bipod. No sacrafice for weight in favor of reliability and capability of extended strings of fire -- like the RPK. But if the mission is dual purpose DMR & super-lite MG I think we should consider making weight saving compromises where possible and consider the ability to move indoors. 18" HBAR or S2W barrel, No carry handle, bipod attached to free float handguard. These qualities will make the rifle accurate as possible and easier to maneuver as a DMR/ individual marksman rifle but still have the necessary capabilities to employ it in its secondary role as an super-lite MG. Just my 2 cents...love to hear a rebuttal from the manufacturer/ firearms engineer Thanks

RRH upper and rifle in the video is designed for sustained fire. The type of fire used to suppress a target must be sustained as your element maneuvers on a target. A tripod has greater stability than a bipod. Tripod mounted arms have a tighter beaten zone. The RRH upper rifle is ideal for a support by fire position ICW a tripod. It appears that RRH is attempting to fill the nich of a belt fed LMG for civilian use. A 20" RRH upper used on a tripod would increase the maximum effective range to about 1,100 meters. Using M855 and a suitable magnified optic. Having a spotter at ranges greater than 400 meters will greatly assist in accuracy and target acquisition. Putting the RRH upper and tripod combo with a spotter giving the system near the effectiveness of a MMG in 7.62. Near, but not as lethal as an RPK/RPD/M240/M60/etc. With ammunition interchangeability with other team members. Weight of the RRH rifle would be inline with an RPK. Lighter than an M249.@@GMRVC1

I think the FightLite Industries MCR Belt Fed AR-15/M16 Upper Receiver would be a better upgrade 😁

@CatsandDogs-qn3ij Жыл бұрын
Maybe, but the price of entry is high for the Fightlite MCR. $7,000 for just the upper receiver. You will need additional MCR barrel to get maximum benefit of the MCRlengths

But see, that's when you want to turn an automatic rifle into a Light Assault Machine Gun- possibly the lightest of all the LAMG's. This AR upper from RRH is simply an improvement to the AR. Therefore, you'd retain the capabilities of a rifle that an LAMG/ LMG upper doesn't have. It's also easier than an LMG to operate, less intense logistically, and should you ever need it, the outline of the RRH AR blends into everyone else's rifle under observation.

For one it cost entirely to much….2 it’s a proprietary system meaning in shtf it will break and now you’re down the weapon because you can’t source parts….3 even though it belt fed is cool, Where would you get the links in a SHTF scenario? Yeah you could still use regular mags but again when it breaks then what?

It's still a free floated system, and with match ammo it's very capable for more "precision" work. Our uppers can "Duel role" so to speak.

Theres just something about a well tuned 20" upper (both A5 or full rifle buffer system versions), even better if you're in a state that allows binary....or ya know, if we ever get our full rights back and the only gun law is the 2nd Ammendment.

@@jonewald2 Quick Detach XDS Heavy Duty We chose it for the front end weight of our Uppers when kitted out fully with Optics, Ammo, and in our case, Silencers. Often the builds push the 13Lb mark so its important to pick a bipod that can handle the weight of your final set up. Also make sure any bipod can go at least to 10.5" to clean most D-60s or Surefire 60s etc. GGG-AZ offers some excellent bipods and they often fly under the radar of the market yet supply a lot of our armed forces with these bipods. Solid product, we highly recommend them.
