I just finished going through your Beyond Color: Exploring Gradients Course, so have been going back to look at some of your previous gradients videos. It was an awesome course and opened my eyes to a PS tool that I have not really used before. I have already put it to use to bring out some pop in a lakeside sunset photo and now am looking at my editing in a different way. Keep up the great work!

Being a video creator who uses final cut, I’m curious if I can use this technique accomplish the same “fake light” in that program to make up for low light scenes in videos.... loved the tutorial!
@f64Academy3 жыл бұрын
Good thinking! I don't do much video, at least not like that, but I'd be curious to know how it works out

@@f64Academy considering a majority of creators use their smart phones, which don’t operate well in low light situations typically, perhaps this is a technique to mitigate that.

Hi blake tks for the tutorial..the grading that you show be it gradient map or any other tutorial works good only on stick images? I have a set of Pre-wedding pics but when applied ur gradients the effect was ok.. Am i doing it wrong or is that all? Please clarify
@f64Academy6 ай бұрын
You will have to process them to a point. These gradients will work on any image but you have to get the image setup well first. This is something I use in the last stage of the workflow, the effects stage, so the image is already processed well before I start using them. If the image doesn't have good contrast or attention to the undertones these gradients, or any effect for that matter, will always look like mud.

I added a radial gradient to a headshot, but I couldn't get rid of the banding even though I was working in 16 bit. Thoughts?
@Nazareth4342 жыл бұрын
Oh one thing I wanted to mention. I did a radial gradient zwhile back to add in a "sun-like increase in light" (going from a nice orange to yellow as it spreads out) to brighten up areas, and place where i want it. What i noticed though was that if i crop an image at all, before working on the action, the gradient won't work because the action isn't to a full size image. The redial gradient will be small and cut off. But on full sized images it works as intended.
@f64Academy2 жыл бұрын
There's a box inside the gradient that says align with image or something like that. If you crop after using one take a look at that check box and toggle it to see if it makes a difference.
@Nazareth4342 жыл бұрын
@@f64Academy Thanks, I'll look for that- I figured it was probably something simple- so simple that i couldn't figure it out lol-
