re: Lightsaber wounds; ignoring the organ damage, the damaged caused by your blood and fluids being flashed (instantly turned to gas by the heat) would be catastrophic enough to kill you. The liver, kidney, stomach, intestine, and lung being destroyed/damaged is irrelevant at that point. Somehow threading the needle and missing every important bit would still cause near instant death. This also kinda makes bolter wounds an issue as well, but I digress. The vascular system does not handle your blood being a gas all that well.

I totally forgot that Cal Kestis got stabbed. It's still pretty inexcusable, especially what he's able to do with having the wound and how he recovers, BUT it's at least the most excusable example. He wasn't run through. It just sort of poked him in the rib, then stopped and turned off. He doesn't immediately recover, as it clearly causes him pain after his recovery. Like I said, still pretty inexcusable, but the best of what we have with lightsaber stab survivors.
