Legitimately one of the most terribly-written episodes of anything I've ever seen. Not a single character makes a reasonable decision at any time. The biggest frustration I had was watching two jetpack-users fly aaaaaaall the way out of their good cover, but instead of finding a vantage point or any kind of fresh cover with a view, they both landed in the most exposed place the street had to offer.

I have seen people try to defend that using the Rancor would make more sense than using the ship. Their only reasoning was that the ship would be too easy of a target and would just make the fight too easy for the heroes. Both of these points are very stupid.

The whole Luke AI thing is why I actually prefer the German dub. In it, the voice actor Jan Makino is voicing Luke, he is the son of the original voice actor for Luke back in the 80's, Hans-Georg Panczak. Their voices sound very much alike and he has also voiced Luke in the end of Mando Season 2. It would have been easy. Trivial, even. Not only that, it would have proven that Boba isn't incompetent and deserves the title of "crime lord," but for some reason Disney decided that Boba just isn't interested in being ruthless (or in running a criminal empire, for that matter), so instead every character continues to make nonsensical decisions for the next 30 minutes.

The Book of Boba Fett simply took away any possibility to theorize or attempt to rationalize Luke's TLJ portrayal by removing the unknown time between his portrayal in RotJ and TLJ. Now instead of being able to surmise that something *drastically* changed Luke's perspectives in the 30 or so years between the two films, you have to concede that Luke begins acting contrary to his portrayal in RotJ near imediatly after the credits roll. They did the impossible once again and made Luke's radical shift even more unbelievable.

So those big battle droids are Colicoid Annihilator Droids and are, clearly, the big brother to the Droidekas that are also made by the Colicoids. They've existed back in the prequel era, before Disney took over, and I know this because of my source, the New Essential Guide to Droids, published back in 2006. Their two dual laser cannons are described as rapid fire and high intensity and can "deliver blistering barrages that can crack the hulls of enemy tanks". One was able to eviscerate, within minutes and through cover, three platoons of clones that were deployed to the Colicoid homeworld of Colla IV to stop the production of Droidekas and Tri-fighters. One could "turn a dozen AT-TEs into smoldering husks" and required Republic commanders to commit "unacceptable numbers of heavy units in order to take down a single annihilator". Their only limiting factor is the prohibitively high costs to produce in mass quantities, with "fewer than one hundred existing on all of Colla IV" with a scant few sent to the front lines. At the end of the Clone Wars, they were deactivated and Palpatine had them moved to the Imperial Department of Military Research, where they would quietly be funneled to Palpatine's citadel on Byss. ...And in Book of Boba Fett, they are made into jokes with slow rate of fire, no aim, barely causing collateral damage, taken down by a bunch of country bumpkins whose only saving grace are a rancor, a Jedi, and a lightsaber, and they are operated by some crime organization on a nowhere desert world and not being hoarded by some Imperial Remnant or old Separatist warlord because of how clearly valuable they ought to be but aren't shown as in this dumb show. Disney acquired a world with nearly limitless potential with so many things already made for them and they squandered it.

The problem is that the team Disney has in charge of Star Wars is incapable of innovating, either because of executive interference or a dearth of creativity. Rather than Luke pioneering a new, less monastic jedi order, his philosophy reverts back to that of the jedi in the prequels. Mando can't get a new ship, we have to rehash a prequel ship people haven't seen since episode 1, even if it doesn't make sense. No advancement, just regression.

it sucks too because a show about a bounty hunter would be a cool way to showcase different planets/destinations or even just different aspects of planets we’ve already explored, and they can’t even do that with Disney levels of money for some reason. In episode 6, they kinda turned away from this idea and made it about a spice "drug" issue. Drug problems are primarily not solved by killing the providers Disney. I think the reason Di$ney Luke doesn’t work, has never worked and will never work is that they’re seeing him through the lens of a cultural phenomenon they feel they have to conquer instead of understanding he’s literally the heart of the story and compromising the heart will always be in detriment of everything else. The future as presented in that show was built upon on science, reason and other Enlightement values meaning it was the kind of future a scientifically inclined white guy would create. It was also a very earnest show; their was any postmodern "irony" in it. Neither one of those things would fly nowadays as far as modern producers are concerned.

Boba showing for like the first time ambition and authority by saying they will defend from the palace, but the cyber punk teen knows better saying they will stay here in this burnt down building, because reasons. Boba throws his guts immediately out of the window and bows to his will. Otherwise this episode would have a completely different set up and outcome. 2.The absence of any tactics and strategy. Everyone runs to the ruins after they have a little fight so they can get easily surrounded by the enemy to generate a sense of danger. 3.Boba being surprised the other crime bosses stabbed him in the back and saying to Mando it would be a miracle if anyone survived now. Nooo it would've been a miracle if anybody would die, Bob.A Feet 4.Bobas heart of gold to protect his city, but letting his fight play out in the midst of they city and getting the rancor to wreak even more havoc and the most laughable part is the townsfolk thanking Boba and cheering him as a sort of hero, although it's his fault. Could've been avoided if he did stay tf in his palace. 5. Black Krrsantan being so injured, he can barely walk anymore. The super duper droids arrive and he's able to run and fight again, like nothing happened. 6.Grogu being there at all made no fucking sense, just here so he and Mando can go back to status quo, putting the rancor to sleep and raising the stakes for Mando. 7. Mando fleeing from the Droid, seeing Grogu. Wanting him out of danger but continuing staying on their trail, while the Droid is on his, instead of leading it elsewhere. Yeah, pretty much transition the Jedi out of the complete drone-like, stoic nature they've been used to and into a perspective that's more flexible and adaptable to what it means to be someone with this unique gift in the galaxy. The prequels, the Clone Wars, KOTOR, pretty much any Star Wars content with Jedi on them have always preached that a true Jedi still acknowledges his vulnerability to attachments, emotions, and all things deemed "irrational" in the Jedi lens, but their ability to still remain true to the light and do the right thing is what ultimately makes them powerful than any other Sith or Jedi. The main message is that the pursuit of absolute rationality itself is an irrational thought, and if we make peace with our demons rather than trying to suppress, we'd be better off for it. Luke should know that better than anyone. This is Jake Skywalker with a text-to-speech voice.

I swear that Filoni & Favreau are either completely phoning it in or have completely lost the plot and have a completely different story in their heads that they've completely failed to transfer onto their scripts, since the latter is what's happening in RWBY thanks to the writer's commentary giving incredible insight into what the hell they were actually doing.

From the wiki: A single Scorpenek annihilator droid could decimate a dozen AT-TEs and make them nothing more than smoking husks. Not surprisingly, these droids struck fear into their enemies' hearts, and turned the tide in the battles at Palanhi and Formos to score Separatist victories. In the Outer Rim Sieges, Republic commanders had to send a large number of clones to take out *a single annihilator*, causing the Republic to further curse the massive droids. However, they did not have a huge influence on the war's outcome due to their huge price tags. They were so expensive in fact, there were believed to be less than a total of 100 annihilator droids in existence. Please make it stop...

The fact that Boba was surprised by the other crime lords turning on him is embarrassing. They were established in that dinner scene as Jabba's ex captains who split after Jabba died. If his goal is really to rebuild Jabba's organization for himself, those are the exact people he needed to recruit. That was who his army was supposed to be. Instead, he summoned them and threatened them to stay neutral in his war with the Pykes. Nobody wanted to fight the Pykes anyway, to the point that the Hutts fled the planet rather than fight them. What he did was renounce any claim to Jabba's empire, validate all of them as his rival warlords, who he would have to fight next after the Pykes, and give them an out to not support him in a fight that they didn't want to have in the first place. They were never going to be allowed to remain neutral. The Pykes are taking over, and the local crime bosses are getting pressure put on them. The only way to stop them from being pressed into the Pykes' service was to commit them to his side first.

If they don't need the towns people as a market to sell spice to then why do they even care about any of this to start? There is no rationale to any of the events in this show.

So let’s review: This series has given us Jake Fett who was almost completely 180’d as a character who rolls over almost on a whim to random strangers, ANY goodwill that some people may have found after Mando S2 is flushed down the toilet with Grogu coming back almost immediately before Mando S3 and Luke Skywalker was both a glorified babysitter and nostalgia bait. Also Cad Bane was wasted in this series and he should have been the antagonist from the start, Fennic should have been the crime boss with Fett only being hired muscle because Bounty Hunting is the element he works best in let’s be honest. Best part of the series was the Tuskans getting massacred, this would have been awesome as the Serpranos on Tatooine but instead we got…this.

They've existed back in the prequel era, before Disney took over. The source for them is the New Essential Guide to Droids, published back in 2006. Their two dual laser cannons are described as rapid fire and high intensity and can "deliver blistering barrages that can crack the hulls of enemy tanks". *One* on these Colicoid Annihilators was able to eviscerate three platoons of clones that were deployed to the Colicoid homeworld of Colla IV to stop the production of Droidekas and Tri-fighters. *One* could "turn a dozen AT-TEs into smouldering husks" and required Republic commanders to commit "unacceptable numbers of heavy units in order to take down a single annihilator". Their only limiting factor is the prohibitively high costs to produce in mass quantities, with "fewer than one hundred existing on all of Colla IV" with a scant few sent to the front lines. At the end of the Clone Wars, they were deactivated and Palpatine had them moved to the Imperial Department of Military Research, where they would quietly be funnelled to Palpatine's citadel on Byss. These droids should've demolished HALF THE TOWN and absolutely PULPED that Rancor, never mind just wiping out any resistance they were up against.

The whole "being against attachment" thing doesn't make any sense. The prequels showed how flawed their ideology was and how it changed Anakin. This is not even mentioning the fact that Luke himself was very emotional. Maybe they're trying to set up why Luke thought the Jedi order was flawed. None of it makes any sense character wise though.
@tuskinradar86882 жыл бұрын
I kinda hate the way that the Attachments rule was settup/explored in the prequels, bc you're right as is i can admit doesn't make much sense considering the OT. As a concept I think there's room for it, and tend to disagree w people who make a bunch of noise about how oh man No Attachments thats dumb ugabooga, I can see the Jedi as an order of Sagely Monks who seek harmony with the Force, and warn against growing overly attached to people and things, as the excess can easily be a fast track to emotional turmoil, and can cloud their judgment from what is right for the Force, rather than right for the particular times. It's what makes the Jedi Order an Order, not just a bunch of people w cool powers, the layer of monastic separation from the rest of society seems like a part of what becoming a member of the Jedi Order means. Furthermore, if every Jedi is a tortured loved one away from falling to the Sith, that poses a serious risk to their order. But the implementation in the PT is kinda botched, and it can't help be muddled in the OT, Luke's fear for the well being of his sister is what brings him to the brink of the Dark Side, but Vaders love for his son redeems him from the Dark Side as well.
@AnimaVox_2 жыл бұрын
My understanding of the PT and OT's theme of attachment is that emotional attachments aren't inherently wrong, but rather the inability to let go of them when the time comes (like in death) and not mastering one's emotions are. The Sith are ruled by passion-it's literally part of their code in the EU content-and they're extremely destructive because of it. It's a pretty consistent theme in the Lucas movies. The idea of attachment that the Jedi present in the PT actually bears similarity to Buddhism, which is where Lucas got it from, I think. However, Luke's acceptance of constructive attachments is very Western in nature (I personally think this borrows from Christianity), unlike Buddhism's total rejection of all attachment.
@ArcticWolf00Alpha02 жыл бұрын
@@AnimaVox_ To clarify... people (including the EFAP crew) get the "Jedi cant have attachments" thing all wrong. The Jedi define attachment differently then what it is commonly defined as. Attachment is defined by the average person as having "affection, fondness, or sympathy for someone or something." The Jedi define attachments as "The inability to let go of things you have no control over" Truth is the Jedi have attachments all the time. Its only natural in every living thing. BUT when the attachment a Jedi has to another person matters more than doing what's right or following what's in the Jedi code, THAT is when the Jedi have a problem. Anakin's problem wasn't that he was attached to people he cared about, Anakin's problem was that he DIDNT LET GO of those people he was attached to when it was necessary to do so. When Anakin lost his mother, he acted out of anger and continued to harbor resentment over her death years after it had occurred. When Anakin got too attached to Padme and married her, he screwed himself over so much more because he couldn't let go of Padme after dreaming about her dying. This is ultimately what led Anakin to the Dark side in the first place, his unwillingness to let go of what he feared to lose and what he had no control over is what screwed him over. When the Jedi advise against attachments the Jedi are referring to someone being so attached to another person to the point that they will sacrifice everything else for that person even if its sacrificing good people or what's right for example. When Anakin is telling Yoda that Hes worried about people dying (Secretly referring to Padme) in ROTS, Yoda tells Anakin to "Let go of everything you fear to lose." Telling Anakin to not worry about things he has no control over and not allow himself to continue to be attached to someone after they have died. There is nothing wrong with that rule. If anything its actually very helpful. What made Lukes actions towards Vader so special is that not only was Luke attached to Vader, but he didnt let go when it would have been necessary to do so. Luke could have focused solely on killing Vader instead of bringing him back to the light as Obi-wan and Yoda thought Vader was long gone and couldn't be saved, but when Luke was able to save Vader because he CONTINUED to be attached to him...thats what made Lukes sacrifice special, he didn't give up and he didn't give in. Bottom line, The Jedi were NEVER against attachments, it was CONTINUING to be attached to something when it was not necessary or healthy to do so that the Jedi advised against....There's nothing wrong with the Jedi thinking there.

I can do the passive aggressive word games too!), but, in the same breath, disregarded. It doesn't matter, because its nothing but flowery fluff on your part to hype up a character you like. The actual, physical reality of the matter is, Bane is a muggle, and perhaps even MORE importantly, a seemingly non enhanced or otherwise superhuman one, too. He has zero connection to the Force, so far as we are aware, bar the obvious bare minimum needed to be alive that everybody has. With that established and out of the way, that also means he has zero passive defenses against the Force being used on him like Jedi and Sith implicitly but obviously do to stop themselves from being ragdolled or neck snapped or such. Do. You. See. The. Problem. Yet? Bane. Does. Not. Have. A. Defense. Against. The. Force. Once again, just to make sure this is illustrated, crystal clear as daylight. Do. You. See. The. Fucking Problem. Yet? I need to hammer this in, because its very important. Because if Bane has zero defenses against such, bar shooting at them a lot to distract them with deflection (which is its own problem, naturally, but let's ignore that for now), as well as I suppose his goofy as fuck hover boots (that physically don't actually work with many of the stunts we see him do, but I digress) to stop just being cheap and levitating him in the air and laughing, then that means, therefore, he can't really prevent or stop something like....hm, I dunno. Say, being Force pushed hard enough to knock him out or otherwise kill him, as we see Jedi do near constantly throughout the entire franchise, from Padawans up. Or having his weapons yoinked out his hands (again, non enhanced by all indications, so no superhuman strength). Or being pulled into the business end of a saber. Or so on, and so forth. The possibilities are endless. Telekinesis is one of, if not THE, most versatile powers in the entirety of fiction for very good reason. Its also, coincidentally, incredibly overpowered in most cases, just as much if not more than similar shit like super speed or such (which....oh, fuck, Jedi ALSO have. WOOPS). You will, of course, naturally, object to this. I like to think I've been around the Internet, and this excuse for a fanbase, long enough to be pretty good at predicting things, so let's see if I can nail a hole in one, shall we? Hm, let's see. You could go with the ever-classic tHe FoRcE iS, LiKe, SUPER DUPER hArD tO uSE. Which is, of course, nonsense, and doesn't bear any worth or value, so it's not really worth a response past that. If you want to try to pretend as such, then feel free, but assuming you have even the slightest hint of a brain located in there, you know just as well as I do that finding examples of Jedi using the Force to instantly incapacitate (or fuck, at least to knock on their asses) humanoid combatants is....uh, plentiful, to put it lightly, even in TCW itself. So this isnt viable, but then, when has that ever stopped Internet randoms, amirite? You could also go with, as you implied in your comment, that the Jedi weren't trying to kill him, so therefore, it's totally fine that a muggle 1v2'd two Jedi simultaneously and not only escaped, but nearly killed at least one of them (with both of these Jedi, of course, being some of the best in the entire galaxy, and Obi Wan in particular being one of the best in history). Again, not really worth a response, though I will 'note' I find the irony of urging me to rewatch the episode hilarious if you earnestly believe this crap. Fucking Jesus, 'not going for the kill', get the fuck out of here. Hm, what else...? I suppose you could go for a non-argument (even moreso than the others, that is), like b-bUt, JeDI areNT uNbeAtAblE, DoNt yOu KnOw?!?!?. Which...well, again, 1, not an argument, but 2, its not really true in this context, either. If I'm being quite fucking frank and honest, a random, generic, faceless, unnamed, mook Padawan should be able to 1v1 and beat nearly ANY muggle. Its...really that simple. The Force, plus the saber, is just too much. Nevermind that we aren't TALKING about a faceless random generic mook, we are talking about some of the most powerful and famous Jedi in history, and with this battle specifically, TWO of them, AT ONCE. The irony of this is, I don't even have much of a problem with muggles being able to contest or even beat Jedi, SO LONG as they are properly outfitted and, more importantly, enhanced or superhuman in some regards. Because no, Jedi aren't unkillable demi gods of war. Even the most faptastic shit from Legends will still have Godmaster Luke Skystomper dying to a well placed blaster bolt if it nails him in the skull. They are, fundamentally, still just vastly enhanced humans (or people, whatever) themselves. Somebody like Grevious, or the Vong, or so on, that have counters to most Force shit and have enough martial skill or ability to beat Jedi in combat, are fine. What isn't fine is some fucking random funny accent Duro's cowboy man winning or otherwise escaping almost every fight he is ever in, even against the vastly superhuman magical space monk wizard cops, because MuH ElEctRiC gAunTlEt. Its shit, garbage writing, which people willingly overlook because they are either too braindead, too brainwashed, or too apathetic to care or even notice. Or too busy choking on Uncle Filoni's long, thick, hard co-I mean, uh, writing ability. Obviously.

My point being that Bane, who can, at least to some degree, give a Jedi Knight a hard time, means that it would be unlikely, nay, "hilarious", that he would get killed in such a pathetic manner.

Why didn't the wookie put his gun through the shield and start shooting? It is established in Star Wars that driod shields can be walked through as long as the momentum is low. The wookie tries this but he puts his hand through first. This hurts him to do this yet the gun barrel wouldn't hurt him. But he continues to just electrocute his hand very slowly... Is everyone in this show a moron!?!
@darthsamba2 жыл бұрын
Better yet, mando could walk through with the dark saber off and turn it in once inside the shield. They can be walked through, it’s done several times from past shows and movies

@mrshmuga92 жыл бұрын
Maybe it’s because I’m watching at double-speed, but I thought it was foreshadowing that they’d used electricity to pierce through or destroy the shields. They could have even showed that the shields were weakening, and is re-routed to the front where the rancor is hitting (like Iron Man’s armour in his fight against Thanos). That would have explained why the back was exposed, because you see the shield flash (weakens) and then move towards the front. Instead it’s just… red on only that section for no reason, rather than not being projected there. Or if red is just “weak” and not “off” then have some struggle to get through because it’s still active, not just waltz right in. Because why are you wasting energy to project an inactive section of shield? This whole show is so stupid.

What is the purpose of The Book of Boba Fett? Disney brings back a character to make him a crime lord in his very own show, except he does no crime and little lording. He starts out hanging with Tusken Raiders because apparently he has no priorities in his life and is cool with hanging out in a desert for months rather than getting his ship and going home or look for more bounties. His motivations for hanging with the Tuskens or becoming a crime lord are still a mystery. Why does he want to rule Tatooine? To make money? To be famous? To free the people? Why would he work for Jabba and then wish to free the people? If I was asked what Boba's character in this show, I have no idea how to answer. Despite the show taking place on one planet for the most part, the world building doesn't exist. How did Tatooine react to Jabba's death? Are they better or worse off because of it? How does the spice trade affect the lives of the people? Why would the Hutts ever give up the planet when they are likely the largest crime faction in the galaxy and could easily fight off the syndicate? A bunch of idiots managed to do it so the Hutts could have easily done the same. How has Tatooine changed since the empire's fall? Where is pod racing? How far did Jabba's power stretch? What were his operations while he was alive? The show gives so little of a fuck about its premise that I learned more about Mandolorians and Jedi training that I did about Tatooine. I ask again what the purpose of this show is. What did the writers want to accomplish using Boba Fett? Two episodes were spent with Mando without Boba saying a single word. Cad Bane was brought back (from the dead I think) for two episodes to do nothing but spit dialogue, shoot people, and die an embarrassing death. None of Boba's actions relate to being a crime lord. Why was there so much focus on the Tuskens when they just died off shortly after? Was it all to explain Boba's stick? What has Boba accomplished overall? Okay, he took Jabba's place and beat the syndicate. What does that mean for him? What does that mean for Tatooine? How will this affect other Star Wars shows since they will be tied together? Was it all just to reunite Mando with Baby Yoda, undoing the dramatic finale of Mando season 2 in a different show? If they do make Mando s3, we won't be able to get cool bounty hunting like we did in ep 5 because he's stuck with Baby Yoda again. TLJ is considered to be the worst SW content because of how it assassinated characters but this could beat it for not only doing the same thing, but also because nothing in this show convinces me the writers cared for what they wanted to write. Deviantart fanfic writers show more passion toward their craft then people writer for multi-million dollar shows in Disney. The Prequel Trilogy was better written.

It annoys me that baby Yoda is back again. This mofo should be back at his home planet with his species. Grogu doesn’t deserve to see 4 owners die before he reaches his teens. Why hasn’t ghost Yoda even talk to Luke about Grogu? Surely there should be advice exchanged between Luke and Yoda about this species. Maybe we could see Luke actually visit Yoda’s planet; he could expand his knowledge about the force (maybe receive training too). This show is absolute $h!t

Those are questions I ask too. I don't even understand Boba's reasoning to even be "crime lord" (because as you said, he does little if any crime related stuff) doesn't make sense. "I'm tired of working for others who don't care about my well-being" Boba, you worked with the Empire, did your job without any hassle. Hell, Vader even promised to Compensate you if Han didn't survive the Carbonite freezing. And by RotJ, you delivered your bounty and got your reward from Jabba. You are the one that decided to stay at Jabba's Palace. You didn't have to stay, but you did. All the way to the Sarlacc pit, where you made the poor decision to fly directly into Luke's personal space and got yourself beaten by a new Jedi and a blind man. Your woes we're self-inflicted. Moreso that I am willing to believe the Drunk Boba skit from Robot Chicken is more Canonically true. But yes, you hit the nail on the other problem with the series that can be summed up with a funny scene from the videogame Bounty Hunter: "What's my motivation?" What is Boba's motivation for doing what he does in this show?

You could tell they just had a LIST of 'cool' bullshit that they 'HAD' to include. Using their jetpacks, check. Back to back fighting, check, Ride the Rankor, check.
