@@HushedObserver101 I know it was cannon back then and I know the Wolfenstein RPG has it so you slice off the arm and leg of the Demon with the same sprites of the Cyberdemon without the cybernetics and the Demon vows to get revenge on your bloodline which that Demon will later become a Cyberdemon and I would assume specifically the Cyberdemon in Doom 1 Tower of Babel. But is that cannon for the latest games though? Especially since there have been other Wolfenstein & Quake games. It's still heavily implied to be the case, I'm just not sure if it is 100% guaranteed to be the case though.

Right?? Literally all they had to do was something similar to Hardcore Henry, hell just hire the people who made that film and get them to make a doom film and follow the source material! I love doom a lot, but the plot has never been the focus it's always had an emphasis on "Rip and tear... Until it is done" just put in some slight plot details enough to get what is going on and why, and spend the rest of the film killing hordes of demons! So easy to do! How do you screw that up not once but twice??

@@pezdispencer113 Eternal gives you SOME stuff to be like "Ok here's some of the Doomslayers backstory but we're keeping it vague for the most part, you get the bare minimum" that's really all in terms of story beyond learning heaven and hell have an alliance and none of it is the focus just stuff to add to the experience, what doom is all about is non-stop action, blood and guts, gore, brutal violence and a kick ass soundtrack! THAT is doom in its purest form, story takes a backseat and it would be so simple to just do that! A guy killing demons because he's to pissed off to die, that's it! Literally just Hardcore Henry the Hell (pun intended) out of a doom movie and give us 90 to 120 minutes of it! That's really all people expect, it's not Shakespeare lol you don't need the extra padding to it just slap some armor on a guy, give him a boomstick and put demons everywhere! 👍 Congratulations they've done it! Lol

I think people misunderstand me. I thought Eternal was extremely bad and a massive step down from 2016. The first one still had a cohesive plot, it was just that the character (Doomguy) didn't care or pay much attention, however the player did get all the beats. Eternal on the other hand is super convoluted with factions and characters thrown in with no explanation. There is clearly a civil war happening within the demon faction with all the fighting between their possessed troops and demon troops but it's never addressed. At many times things are just stated in one liners which just makes them true without an logic behind how, you killed the priests so the earth invasion is stopped.... Somehow. There's no explanation as to where Doomguy got his ship and what stops him for teleporting anywhere he needs to go at any time. This is only the narrative and universe related issues as well, gameplay is a completely separate mess. It's not a good game guys, even by 'Doom Standards' (ie ignoring plot entirely).

Yeah, it's a weak one. I mean, at least, when I heard John Wick say: "Daisy" cuz that's the only thing his first puppy was wearing on it's collar, I didn't know it was reference, yet spoiler alert. It was a reference. Point is, in John Wick "Daisy" is more than a random namedrop. If you know what the plots are and what Daisy represented in both cases, you know what the reference meant. Fun fact: Bertruger was also the villain in Doom 3. His shtick in the game is more or less the same as the film. MOVIE IDEA: characters are scientists on Mars, they accidentally open hell and among demons, doomguy emerges out too, many die and the few character surviving burrows in doom bunkers which have something doomguy needs so both sides encounters, they don't really understand what he says but strike a deal to help doomguy get his job done while they try to do the the tasks while surviving, with doomguy coming out of the blue on several instances to kill demons after the scientists. It's a survival horror where demons are a super strong threat while doomguy's rampage damages several systems and some life support systems in some areas through sheer collateral damage, a cross between physical and environmental threats. Also every scenes where doomguy approaches into the scene or is just there, heavy metal music blasts like an aura of noise around him. The number of weapons he weilds would be explained by a black aura of argent energy around his back materializes his weapons, Everytime the BFG is shot it destroys a part of the place and knocks out lights within a hundred meters.

The names are not Russian, they are Bulgarian. A lot of these kind of movies get filmed here, because its way cheaper, and all of them are garbage from what ive seen. I guess its the meme side of it to call Russian everything with Cyrillic alphabet or Slavic people. Even tho we took the alphabet hundreds of years before the Russians and other slavic countrier/cultures. Anyways i cant expect you to be that savvy in our history. The average Westerner would look at Cyrillic and say "Oh yes, that's Russian, right?" There is very little awareness of other Slavic nations- especially in America, where there are only 2 other countries within a thousand miles. (I am American so I can't totally speak for other countries) It's unfortunately very rare to find a Western person who can name more than two or three Slavic countries. Hell, I spent a year studying Eastern Europe and even I didn't know that Bulgarians adopted Cyrillic long before Russia. Sadly, Slavic history and culture are just not things we learn about.

So, in case anyone wasn’t aware, Malcom Betruger was the main antagonist of DOOM 3: he’s not an original movie character (though the accuracy of the movie to the game is most likely very thin) EDIT: 26:47 there were zombies in the original games. The only game I played in full was 2016, and in that game their explanation for why zombification occurred was exposure to something called the Lazarus wave. The Possessed enemies and the Revenants are all a result of Lazarus wave exposure. Not really the case here though.

Doom 3 had some kind of hell skulls that would possess humans. The Summoners could also possess humans with their wave attack as well and I believe Lost Souls would attempt to transfer themselves into humans by exploding themselves. The zombies in eternal are ones not made from Lazarus waves but were made from straight up having their souls sucked and they would later turn into actual demons apparently after wandering around aimlessly in hell for untold millennia's.

In Doom 3, Dr. Betruger turns out to be a villain literally 15 minutes into the game. He's not a twist. That's why the name is at least moderately excusable there, unlike here where they try to pass him off as a good guy for 90% of the film.
