We purchased an '02 Odyssey when we had 3 teenagers. Now they've grown up and moved on and (200,000 miles later) it's about time to replace the old girl. I keep looking at other options but nothing can rival the comfort, utility and reliability of our Odyssey. Fabulous vehicle! I've pretty much decided to buy another one, even though it's just the two of us most of the time.

Rented a 2013 Odyssey for a ski trip, and it is a great thing that the shift nob wasn't in the middle reasons being: 1) If you take out the middle cup holders of the first and second row, you can fit 190 Inch Skis + 150 Inch Snowboard in that gap without lowering any of the 3rd row seats. 2) When in snow / hills etc. having the gear control in front is easier to quickly switch to D3 mode (and back), and then grab the wheel again (was very useful driving in wintry conditions).

The negatives they said about the deep space in the rear, the chrome trim outline on the outside of the van, and the empty space in the front where he said the stick should have been are all positives to me. To each their own. I love everything about this van. It's definitely ahead of it's time considering that most of the newer vans today in the 2020's still have the same features as this van, and that's fully loaded today as well.

I'm a mom of 2 toddlers in carseats and we are done having kids. Previously, I drove a '99 Ford Explorer 2 door that seats 4 (now my husband's car). I loved that car, but 2 doors and carseats? Don't do it! My back was killing me. Especially while I was pregnant with my son and getting my daughter in and out. I love my 08 Odyssey EXL purchased in the beginning of March. I really, really love the external styling of the fourth generation Odyssey, but it seems I am in the minority lol. To each their own. When I'm ready to buy a new car, I love my minivan enough that I don't think I'm going to move out of the segment any time soon. Mostly likely another Odyssey for me in a few years! :D

You guys are cracking me up! Good stuff. Hey, a few features that wouldn't want to be missed on this Odyssey: 1. The 3rd row seating can be folded over for tail gating. That's right, instead of going into the floor, they stay in the L shape and rest on tailgate so you can sit on them. 2. There is a trash bag holder under the middle console in the back... I know you guys wouldn't need but really nice for kiddos. Thanks for helping me decide the Odyssey is the right choice over Pilot! Dan

Just traded in our Honda 2004 Element for this model Odyssey. Only had our Element for 10 years and it was nickel and diming us due to all sorts of engine trouble after we reached roughly 80,000 miles. Honda specialists could never figure out what was going on with the engine, and chronic oil leak they could never fix. I hope these troubles will not be the case with this Honda Odyssey van. One expects Honda to be a reputable car, and last for more than 10 years, so we will keep out fingers crossed with the Odyssey. At just over 100,000 miles, the Element already needed a new engine, as we were told by Honda specialists, despite we maintained the car very well. The vinyl on the seats was also cracking. We initially bought the Honda Element, because our Great Dane could fit inside with plenty of head room, and we did not have to take out the seats. We just put the seats to the side and used the entire back of the Element as a cargo space. We had liked the Rubbermaid interior, as one could just about hose out the inside. We just bought a 2013 Odyssey Touring Elite used, with only 8000 miles on it. The car was well maintained and looks new. What we like about this Odyssey is the cargo space in the very back is big enough for our Great Dane with plenty of standing and turning room for him, and our pug fits too. We are actually able to have the front passenger seats still in place for other human passengers, unlike the Honda Element, where we were only able to have the driver and passenger seat, due to the pony (Great Dane) taking up the entire back of the Element. Love the leather seats. The Odyssey comes in handy even for those of us who do not have children, but have giant breed dogs. Plenty of room for luggage, and camping equipment too. Never say this car is only worth while or gets optimal use if one has kids.

I believe that thing on the roof in the third row is a Microphone for the Bluetooth calling. That way, people both in the front and back can talk while on a call. I actually like the Lightning Bolt design at the rear of the car. And the DVD can either split in half so two kids can watch different movies or the kids can watch the same movie in wide screen. My mom has the 2011 Honda Odyssey EXL with the DVD System. I sit in the third row and I have it all to myself... :)

Having a Mini van is not just for people with all sorts of kids. My kids are grown and I'm going to buy another mini van. My elderly father also has a mini van. He uses it because it is a truck with 30 mpg. He can get in and out really easy, great MPG and he can haul all sorts of stuff. I'm going to get another van because I like to travel with my wife. We get good MPG and we can take coolers and all sorts of stuff with us when we travel. It also gives us room to buy stuff on our travels and bring it home with us.

We are a retired couple and recently bought a 2014 Honda Odyssey EX-L. It gets better economy than my brother’s Toyota Venza or our Toyota Avalon. the "receiver" at the rear of the roof (3rd row) is one of the mics for the Active Noise Cancelation - it picks up on boom sounds that are created when the engine operates in 3-cylinder mode (not 4-cylinder operation) and counters that 'booming' sound w/ a white noise from the car's audio system. Also, that "child" seatbelt is just a regular 3-point seatbelt. It works in the same fashion as a normal seatbelt once anchored in. :-)

The Nissan Quest runs circles around this Odyssey and I don't understand why it's not said more often. Quest is better looking, outside AND inside, with elegant contrasting seat piping on leather seats and a much more user friendly dash layout with a pushbutton start (it's 2013-14, who uses keys anymore?). It isn't a depressing gray like the Odyssey is inside. The Quest can "only" haul seven passengers - one less than the Honda but you don't have to find a place to store those second row seats when you want a flat floor. Honda wins in interior cargo space but loses that deep well behind the 3rd row when the seats are down; the Nissan does not. It can have a flat floor while still granting you complete access to the rear storage area and has a removable center console in the 2nd row. Nissan has the dual moon roof they so badly miss in the Honda in this video. Sound system on the Nissan? Bose. Cup holders? 14. Quest is taller... better headroom. We bought a 2013 Quest a few weeks ago and have no regrets - Nissan needs to step up advertising!

Is there any minivan that doesn't offer fob opening side doors? The back seat isn't powered? At 44k? Not much room in the third row for that third adult you said would fit at the start of the video, not even enough for a 10 year old. And that door gash is so 1995.

pretty late comment but here are the problems: 1. Bluetooth Media 3 second delay , Bluetooth over phone call work great but on media player 3 second delay , honda knew and don't want to fix / internet is full of this problem but Honda does not care . 2.19MPG local , basically 17MPG in city ( local) after 3 or 4 years dorped to 13MPG . 3. the body structure inside the floor is not flat its has curves all over inside body its not flat floor. 4.cheap plastic all over inside , decareful u can break any thing. 5. two in dash screen one for different display and one uses for as a multimedia keypad , honda want keep eyes on your road instead of your cell phone and the keypad screen is so low down that when u want to change some thing you completely take off your eyes over road . 6.staring wheel have sharp edges . 7.cheap carpet floor mats =========== i m done
