Marc, Great Review, I own and use the Comica VM 20 as a Boom Mic and their Vimo C3 for interviews. Im creative developer and content creator for a busy and very noisy Diesel Performance shop and these are great job at canceling out the background noise. The quality for this price point is amazing.

You mention the magnet instead of clip issue. While not built in, this seems like a thing one could add. As a car phone mount, I have this small circular balll-and-socket magnet mount and a thin metal disk that sticks to the phone. This seems like a pretty simple thing to make for a mic like this.

Thank you for this review, I'm considering getting The Comica
@longwelsh5 ай бұрын
I bought one of these, decided to try it on a very reverberant stage for a musical just for people with single lines. Failed miserably, as did the DJI I tried it against. It’s not the situation it was designed for and even adding a headset mic it was still distorting like crazy even with the volume set to 1. Apart from that it’s really impressive. For regular talking it’s great sounding, the weight of the transmitter is amazing, actors commenting after having a Shure Tx with two AAA batteries in it that they couldn’t feel it at all. Would be nice to have more specs from Comica regarding the input impedance of the 3.5mm jack input and about how long it waits before disconnecting a Tx it hasn’t seen. I will be certainly be keeping mine as in the right situation it will definitely save your ass.
@stevenslaughter84734 күн бұрын
As a teacher and theater director, I’m interested in your comment on using it for a musical. Why do you think it was distorting? Was it a long distance from the sound booth or interference from the rest of your audio system? I’m thinking of this more for interviews in controlled places, not primarily for theater, but that could be a great extra use if it could be worked out. I don’t have any audio system yet - just a beginning system in a black box performance space.
@longwelsh4 күн бұрын
@ there’s a fair bit of latency so that definitely made the situation worse mixing with UHF and I think it’s the auto gain not understanding spill from other performers. Had the Rx mounted side of stage and no drop outs. Need to give it some more testing.

They should have made a receiver with the Sony digital interface shoe, just like DJI did. no cables, right into camera, all 4 channels at once. but it looks like a budget option. On my multicam setups I use the new Ulanzi U-mic w/ internal recording, and when more mic's are needed I add my rode wireless go (1st edition) or my godox MovLink M2's. Never had to record more than 5 people talking fortunately.

@buildingsheriff3 ай бұрын
When you work professionally, you can’t afford to have a dropout that you cannot fix in post. Hence needing internal recording.
@sparkestudio3 ай бұрын
@@buildingsheriffthat's a good point. I personally rarely ever use internal recording. BUT i rarely ever go a distance from the receiver or behind walls. Clean sound is more important for me than internal recording but you are correct that drop outs can be avoided. DJI mic from my experience has high self noise when not using internal recording.

Always love your stuff, it's the reason i grabbed my zv-e10, always my go to, and these i was very interested in, and not for any of the reasons you went over, I honestly want to use them for twitch streams with multiple people. I've setup my home office to be an entire streaming room with cameras setup at different angles, and I have been trying to figure out the best way to do the audio. I have 2 microphone systems that work well, but I know i want to have the ability to have more people join in. These seem to be the ONLY option of 4 mics in one great package. Great demonstration of some very promising mics. Four mics with the ability to use lav mac is really awesome! 32bit float would have been nice, but the price would have been higher. The Hollyland Lark M2 has way better noise reduction than this one and if you use their phone app, noise reduction can be turned down. If Hollyland came out with a four mic setup, that'd be amazing!

I have the xd-boom and their hand held wireless mic. They have excellent sound. I wish they would offer a wireless lav with on-board recording. @@MarkBennettCameraCrisis I still think the Lark M2 is obnoxious (probably the most obnoxious actually) but love that they give you a sticker. I think mic companies are banking on people not bothering to cover it up and therefore this is perfectly intentional marketing strategy tbh.
@aldolega5 ай бұрын
@@HotelSeptember I mean I agree. When the first Rodes came out the first thing I thought was "Why is the transmitter shiny? Why does the clip have a huge logo on it? So obvious and unprofessional." But maybe them being so obnoxious was part of their success, people love a brand apparently. And it's no surprise that all the copycats, well, copied that aspect. I went with the PicoMic because it's almost as small as a lav mic with a shirt clip by itself.
