The first time I saw the infinite combo of Hwoarang is from Tekken 5 playstation 2. You have to remember those high mid low and parry. If you're a beginner Tekken player Speed kicks will laugh at you.

I think Tekken 8 has moved closer to the philosophy of "if every character is good then there's less problems" than its predecessors. Whether that statement holds any merit is anyone's guess though, as the game is not out yet, and who knows what the competitive scene will look like.

How long did it take you to figure out what moves flow into each other? Is it just a matter of trying every combination of moves in different orders? How do you know if those moves actually do flow together?

Most Hwoarang players memorize a few flowcharts and cycle through them as needed. If you wanna really get into Hwoarang you just gotta play him a bunch. Study his frames and learn which moves lead into stance changes. He’s a super fun character and offers up a ton of room for creativity in his toolkit.

It's the same. F+3 from rfs transitions or flies into slot of other moves. He is using t7 muscle memory because he is a seasoned vet with Hwoarang

As a Hwoarang player it’s crazy to see how many holes there are in that offense “string”. Most of it can be shut down by a simple crouching jab. The punch looks mid but VERY linear. If it doesn’t have tracking they should sidestep it. Problem is, in any tekken Vs Hwo, that people try to attack at the WORST possible times or challenge with slow moves. The fastest move should be the first thing you try. In most cases, crouching jab.

the best counter to those strings is probably just movement. most of the opponents here were just standing there taking mixup after mixup, as if they never heard of backdash or sidestep. Crouch jab might work sometimes, but i wouldn't want to risk taking a ch mid launcher.

@@jared5200yeah, it would depend on the Hwos mix. When I play the mirror I knowledge check the person doing the string. If they are repetitive like these, it’s a breeze. If they have the skill to REALLY mix and know HOW to stop the crouching jab and correctly punish then I’ll adjust. It literally stops most Hwos in their tracks because they WILL throw a high in their string. Usually D 3,4. I agree, movement, sidewalks and sidesteps shut down a lot too.

These are basically the same strings and sequences he’s running in Tekken 7. People just never learned how attempt down jabs or hopkicks. Of course sidestep is an option too but I wouldn’t expect that at this level.
