Elder Cyclops have insane aoe against stacked units. However, what I like most about ares is the tech to build hypatists (greek anti infantery) in AgeII instead of III already. This is my way to go against norse (and also atlantean that go murmillo) and it works really good.

@@vinconssier4224 Yeah right. Hades main at 1150 elo and I struggled the same against norse. I always played athena and wanted to give ares a try and came up with this strategy. Its really nice because hersir are easily countered with hepastist, if enemy goes axeman you can easily mix in some toxotes (or later peltast) and if they go for raiding cav you already habe the tech to go hoplites

Folks really need to learn the difference between "strong" and "OP", especially in a game like AoM where things are intended to be strong.

I wish the first pressure I got in my low games was a pestilence on a single fortress from a suiciding Ajax 10 minutes into the game. Or that there was a gentlemans agreement not to raid the wide open gold mines at the side or build siege units. Or that the first fortress-type building in contested territory goes up at 25 minutes. What was this game? Chill for 10 mins, rally units into the middle for 10 mins, gg, I concede! So strange.

In a mirror match up, defensive play is generally much stronger, if the players are roughly evenly matched. Because if you fail to do enough damage, you will be behind the entire game

i was fighting as gaia vs this and fully heroized my frontline and they still crushed it. was rough.

I played a match with my friend the other day and I had 5 elder cyclops and he had like 25 Hero Turma and I'm not 100% sure on what happened but they all dropped dead at the exact same moment and it looked like the game bugged out and the nearest we could figure was that the cyclops all threw something at the same time and just popped the whole brick of them

While holding shift, just spam click on the middle of the town center. They get optimal placement automatically (usually)

They are countered easily, there is countless things in the game more busted than them lol

they're not much more than a tower destroyer/meat shield in early game but eventually it get's to late game and they absolutely eat up units in tight formations usually classical age myth units get worse as the game progresses, its the exact opposite for the cyclopes
