i kinda had a mentor friendship like this, im 35 yrs old. at that time i was 25 and i met a kid that was 16 going to 17, his parents are drug addicts so he would ride his bike all day. one day while working on my yard he stopped and asked if he could help me pick up the grass for 5$. i said yes, he would come over 2 times a week for the whole summer, i gave him 25$ instead of the 5$. one day i found out his dad took his money that he had saved almost 250$. One day i saw his dad walking to a known drughouse, i stopped my car and offered him a ride since it was raining when he got in the car , i told him that the money he stole from his kid was from me and now he had to pay it, at first he got mad but he noticed how pissed i was he gave me 100$ at that moment, i told him that if he ever try stealing again from his kid i would look for him. eventually the boy moved in with me and my girlfriend at that time when he turned 18 he stayed with me for about a year and got a good job now he is married and expecting a baby he comes from time to time to visit me with his wife. he treats my son like a brother and i am happy he broke the cycle of his family. im very proud of him

Since Sam Rockwell usually plays unlikeable jerks, it's almost surprising to see him as a happy go lucky childish adult, while Steve Carell is the complete opposite. A good man in a boy's life even if it's just for a moment has such an impact a lot of people don't understand but i wish more did. It can change you in such a good way but can also be heartbreaking at the same time if you lost it. It's why I will always forever be grateful for my stepfather growing up. I hated men because of my father and then there's this guy who entered my world, who dealt with all my nonsense and I treated him horribly for years because i was a broken child that didn't understand why i was the way i was until I understood what it meant to be loved by a man. He who wanted to be my father which was so eye opening to me at the time and even though I only had two days of truly feeling that I had a father and someone that I could look up to, love and feel it in my heart when I say that I love you dad . It changed my life forever. I would give years of my life just to get that back. Unfortunately after those two days of me really seeing that I had a father he passed away. He had a reaction to his medication and fluid built up in his lungs while he was asleep and he passed away he was only 36 at the time. That day will forever haunt me but he forever changed me into realizing that I can care and love people and you never know how much time you have so don't hurt people just try to understand because you never know what someone's going through and sometimes just being there is enough. Sorry for the rant as you can tell losing a loved one overwhelms me emotionally so the ending just made me horribly sad even though it's supposed to do the complete opposite but driving away from the man that helped you so much never knowing if you'll see him again it just saddens me.

A few things the recap got mixed up -Betty is actually the sister of Trent -Joan and Kip are not married, they are childhood friends of Trent -Owen is actually one of the managers. Probably took ownership considering his apartment is in the water park -Owen wasn’t the one concerned about the dancers it was Katlyn -Owen isnt proud or impressed about Duncan being good employee, but with how he is growing and becoming more confident from when he first spoke to him -The three boys that got stuck weren’t screaming for help, but yelling at each other for failing to pass each other -Katlyn wouldn’t only be surprised that the park could close, but because of his careless and lazy self is (or could) be the reason why they never could be a thing. -Duncan nickname was “Pop N Lock” no one calls him that for being a “PopNLock guy” but for the dance style the dancer made him do -Duncan walks off because his mother was keeping from him that his Father no longer wants anything to do with him, Also because he found out from Trent during the fight -(ok this one is silly) Duncan doesn’t run to the park “worrying about his mother” . He ran to let Owen know they’re leaving so he can say goodbye and make one final memory he can be happy with. His mother Pam chases after him, Trent is screaming for Pam not Duncan -Pam had no idea what the heck was going on at the park, but she was happy to see everyone cheering for him

My throat hurts from holding my tears...XD. Good movie tho. Relateable'ish with the family situations and being lonely.
