Excellent install and nice instructions. It's strange how some countries have different voltages and different looking wall outlets

Thanks for watching! Yes would be nice if the whole world would standardize electrical voltages.

Hey Mate, great video! I was wondering if you have the part number/name for the mounting bracket you used as I am struggling to find that style for a quad outlet?
@NotSealed
@NotSealed 7 ай бұрын
The mounting bracket came included with the quad outlet. Most will have standard mounting holes such as clipsal, hpm, and deka.

For those that really need to know. Active to neutral and active to earth should be 230v in Australia or 110v USA. 0v neutral to earth. Testing and recording is part of every electricians sign off compliance.

Why wouldn’t you use the quad outlets that fit using the same bracket and holes as a double ? They save all the hassle of cutting gyprock and using a new bracket etc.

I find that those cheap quad socket outlets that use the same internal brackets tend to bend slightly and lift on the ends when removing a plug. Over time they will crack.

@@NotSealedI’ve installed hundreds in both residential and commercial premises and never had one fail yet. Also, characterising them as “cheap” is not factual. Clipsal make one for their Clipsal Pro and Iconic Series that are anything but cheap.

Don't forget this is a slim-line quad outlet. Not a bulky quad Gpo. Yes, Clipsal makes great products. Let's hope it continues under Schneider Electric@@Aussie_Bren

If a light switch gets disconnected can it be connected back again?
@NotSealed
@NotSealed Ай бұрын
Sure but not sure why you would disconnect a light switch for a gpo outlet install.
@adamali2886
@adamali2886 Ай бұрын
@@NotSealed It is just a general question and it has nothing to do with the video and power points. But it is good to know that if an electrician disconnects a light switch then the customer can get the light switch connected back again and use the light again in the future and that the light switch will not be permanently disconnected

So are you able to turn pretty much any aus double into a quad like this? Also is 4 outlets the max or can you theoretically go much higher before the load is too much?
@NotSealed
@NotSealed Жыл бұрын
Yes you can convert any single or double outlet into a quad. It's just like adding a power board. You will still need to make sure you don't overload the circuit otherwise the breaker will trip. Lots of people installing these into kitchens now.

@@NotSealed thanks for the reply, I’ve had a look at mine and it seems that this has essentially been done already, except with 2 double outlets back to back with one being in room A and the other in room B. I dont know enough about this to know if i can make the room A into a quad while keeping the room B double there or if that will get too crazy. If its as simple as adding a power board like you said then i should be fine but the less i blow up the better
@NotSealed

@@supzke won't be a problem just make sure you have room if you need to cut some plasterboard out.

Do RCDs cut the power off for the whole house or only for a certain section of the house because if a person has a leaking roof and there is water coming into the roof and if a person installs a RCD on the switchboard will the RCD cut the power for the whole house because that would be a complete disaster especially in winter if the RCD cut the power for the whole house?
@NotSealed
@NotSealed Ай бұрын
There are two different types of rcd installs. Ones that only do one circuit and are built into the circuit breaker. RCBO. That way if it trips it will only do that one power circuit. The other type is if there are multiple circuits installed into one rcd. If one circuit has an earth fault it will trip all circuits connected to to it. Not recommend.

@@NotSealed Will the RCBO trip if water is coming into the eaves from the gutters?
@NotSealed
@NotSealed Ай бұрын
@@adamali2886 Possibly if water is getting into the house and then running down the wall into a power outlet or into light fittings. You need to work out if you have a ground fault or an overload circuit fault eg too many appliances on one circuit.

@@NotSealed Whats the solution to stop the RCBO from tripping if the person has water that is coming into the eaves from the gutters?
@NotSealed
@NotSealed Ай бұрын
@@adamali2886 You have to clean out the gutters to stop them overflowing. Then dry out the outlets that have water in them. You may need extra down pipes if your roof area is large.

@@NotSealed Why do they charge a call out fee for when they are going to get paid for doing the work. It makes no sense. Normal people don't get paid for travelling to and from work

@@adamali2886 Sometimes it's an easy fix and may take only 15 minutes which the call-out fee covers. Im not defending the cost of call outs but I can have up to 6 jobs in a day all at different locations which require travel.
