Okay so story time. My dad coaches baseball every year and the one year he didn't coach my little brother Noah , who was about 4 years old then, and the coach was like this. No, really not. I am a strong opposer of any centralized economy in general and communism in particular. However, this is not communism. Communism is related to the joint ownership of the means of production and the centralized direction of economy. In a communist regime you can not chose to open a factory with your savings, removing the facto the capitalist class. However, you are not paid irrespectively of your job. Kind of the opposite of that! Not only Labour is the only value, but it is the foundation of value itself: the value of an object is equal to the hours of work imputed to its production. To "work hard", even in a useless effort, was central in most Communist countries. While western economies idolize smart entrepreneurs (Bill Gates, Elon Musk,...) in Soviet Russia the idol was the hard worker peon (Stakanov). If you work twice as much, you earn twice as much. What you can not do is to save the excess to buy your own factory and earn out of other people working. I even understand why it seems attractive, if you have no idea how the world works. Of course Marx never worked one day in his life.
