WHY ARE THESE VIDEOS SO ADDICTIVE
@TayWoode5 ай бұрын
I’m so glad you said “addictive” and not “addicting” I dunno why so many people say that when it’s not a word, like when they say “discussing” instead of “disgusting” more and more coz no one ever tells them it’s a different word with a different meaning.

Tremolo means Tremble Vibrato means vibrate important to recognize the two as seperate On some instruments, like Vocals, vocalists will unknowingly combine tremolo while they vibrato due to the difficulties of lung control being non-visual, mostly all feeling, without visual cues. The lower pitched note on the Vibrato will be often quieter as they release throat pressure, subconciously relieve air pressure as well. This doesnt happen on violin because the bowing hand is at a fixed velocity, while the fretting hand gently rocks the note. When programming computer to recreate these sounds, its important to understand how to properly combine or omit certain techniques to emulate the instrument youre trying to replicate. Great video as always.
@Greybell6 ай бұрын
ah that makes sense. I always thought what I did to my vocals was tremolo but I found out later in life through pitch correction that it's both.

0:48 for me the visuals of automation clips in LFO mode rarely represent whats actually happening, which is very apperant if you make it slow and try to beat sync it - and then move the phase of the automation curve (drag it left/right in the automation editor) for exmple, so it lines up in a certain way - maybe automate the speed - play and pause the playlist a couple of times - and suddenly you notice how its drifting with each playback and never lines up with the visuals. If you then try to move the phase it only moves in a small area and always jumps back - seems bugged out. Also you can "copy the state" of one automation clip in LFO-mode to another automation clip and more glitchy buttons appear (where you can activate/deactivate "sync to tempo", like in other line editors), but they disappear again once you close the automation editor. In general: automation clips in LFO mode never worked stable for me and were always very glitchy/broken in many ways. They feel unfinished/unreliable. Which is annoying because I often want to work with repeating automations, that are dynamic/automatable in speed, amount and shape.
@TheBigLou136 ай бұрын
Steps to reliably reproduce getting the out-of-sync automation clips in LFO-mode: create an automation clip in LFO-Mode, automate the speed, let the playlist play while manually moving the phase of the automation in the automation editor (double click the automation clip). After you've done that for a bit deactivate the lfo speed automation clip and compare the actual value vs where the LFO-curve of the automation clip shows it. Steps to reliably reproduce getting the glitchy extra-buttons: right click any parameter, create automation clip, double click it, turn it to LFO-mode, little triangle menu -> copy state. Right click any other parameter, create automation clip, turn it to LFO-mode, little triangle menu -> paste state. There you go, glitchy additional buttons. The 2nd automation clip has to be new - it doesn't work with pasting the state into a "make unique"d copy of the initial automation clip.

nice overview :) vibrato is obviously the coolest effect of all time, which is why my first plugin release, NEL, was also a free vibrato with lots of modulators for all the various usecases. when it comes to lofi pitch drifts for example, I added a bias control to the perlin noise modulator at some point to make it possible to essentially have a slowly moving random curve, but with little spiky pitch dropout moments
