Hey Ryan, how does the furling mainsail go for the cruising life?
@SailingSunday3 жыл бұрын
Great, I wouldn’t ever change it, along with electric winches it’s literally just open a clutch, push a button to furl, unfurl & reef all from inside the cockpit. If we were racing with crew it would be a different story. We have jammed it a few times though but it’s always been from laziness when I don’t turn to wind to furl...

@SailingSunday Жыл бұрын
It's Easy, you need an agent though like in Turkey, We used a lady from Saranda Summer Tours, back then I think it was about $50 and they just do everything for you. We checked out up north, Saranda organized it for us or gave me the details to call for the check out a few weeks later and was about the same cost.

Yes, I was born in Albania but after being 17 years away from my country (I lived during the years Albania was in anarchy) and finally visiting again, I can say without a shadow of doubt that Albania is very safe for tourists. I was ignorant myself before going there, thinking it is not safe to visit (this is largely due to many Albanian immigrants talking down to their own country out of ignorance). Everywhere that I went, people were friendly and welcoming. I would not recommend to live there due to the economy, but as a tourist, you can enjoy Albania safely and for cheap. I do have to say though, tickets are expensive due to there being only one airport in Albania. I have heard talk about a second airport on the way, but I do not know much of it.

I cant wait to travel the albania/kosovo/north macedonia region. Looks like such an under rated part of europe. I have been to croatia and montenegro which where both stunning too
@SailingSunday4 жыл бұрын
Very under rated! Yes, in the sailing community everyone told us to just go straight to Croatia and Montenegro and not to go to Albania! But Albania was one of the best places we visited, so beautiful and the people were awesome!
@larglind3 жыл бұрын
I can’t understand why would someone say don’t go to Albania 😩
@SailingSunday3 жыл бұрын
I know, we loved it!!! 2years later we still get emails and messages from other cruises asking us about Albania saying how others said it's not safe to go and we can't understand it... I think it has more to do with the fact there's no marinas and there is a "MINE FIELD" section along the coast on the nautical charts, it just scares many people in the yachting community away. We highly recommend Albania to everyone!

How does your dog 'do his business when duty calls'? Where does he go? Is it a good idea to have some fake grass on the deck for him?
@SailingSunday5 жыл бұрын
Yes, we have fake grass on the bow for him, but he only uses it on passage. Most of the time we try and do day trips because of Jackson and usually stop off for lunch too. We do spend a day or 2 at anchor and edit videos too and he gets off the boat 3-4 maybe even 5 times on those days at anchor.

@@SailingSunday true, but its somewhat hard to enjoy things right now when everything is closed apart from grocery stores. Its not that big of a deal right now but i do miss the restaurants and cafes. Macchiatos here are just way better than the ones in the US. In my opinion, basically i just miss it. Here in Macedonia the government issued statements about opening things up slowly so the same may be for Albania. Cheers

Yes its a beautiful country! Many Sailors skip it on their way to Croatia because stories are told that its not safe, the navigation maps show unsafe areas with unexploded submarine mines and told we can not anchor anywhere (which is not true). We sailed there, and found it was the total opposite. Hopefully our videos show how beautiful it is in Albania, we loved it there!

😂 that is not a police car. At least not the state police. They’re some kind of municipal police that don’t carry guns and have to deal with stray dogs and car parking. As for the safety Albania is one of the safest countries in Europe but the movie Taken has destroyed our reputation 🤪🤪🤪😂😂😂

@Sailing Sunday I watched many sailing videos where people travel around the world. Your title and your judgment about Albania shows how unprofessional you two are. In this video there are so many things that don't portrait Albania. It is shame that you did not interact more with locals to learn a thing or two. P.s. Ketchup does not taste like ketchup!? Seriously? Hahahah. If you are going to a new country with that many judgments you will never going to see it the way it is.
@SailingSunday4 жыл бұрын
Ridvan Jakupi Many sailors here in Europe told us not to go to Albania because they assumed it was dangerous etc etc etc, (hence the title) but with no Judgment went anyway to see for ourselves and found it beautiful and loved it in Albania... We did in fact sit with locals and learned the History and loved It. I think you may just misunderstand the title and skipped through the video, we also have more videos on Albania 🇦🇱
