Most epic ride of my life, 1977 on Yamaha DT 175 two stroke from Crested Butte to Redstone thru Schofield Pass with my dad, i was 14 years old. Degree of difficulty was much higher back then. Plan to do it again with my 2 nephews who I race motocross with. I am now 59 and will attempt the ride on my new KTM 390 Adventure, can't wait!

Great ride - sorry to hear about the flat! Had a similar experience (freak slice) in very rural western NC on a rather desolate forest service road. Random guy was rolling past on a Yamaha Zuma 125. Gave me a 30m ride to town where we purchased tire plugs and a bicycle pump, then gave me a lift back to my motorcycle. Serious generosity! Patched it up enough to limp it down to a wonderful valley where I sat next to a lake under the shade of a beautiful tree and watched a nice lazy fall afternoon pass while waiting for a friend to drive up with a trailer to fetch me.

Mainly Jeeps I believe. That one narrow steep Rocky part must catch them out or something

I’ve been in Black Bear Pass twice in my Jeep and once on my KTM 450 EXC-F. There’s been some recent rollovers on it too.

crested butte, AKA crusty butte. stayed there a few years ago. no reason to run street tires on a 790; just get TKC80s or something similar. the end.

What if it’s my job to do tire reviews and this is what I was working on at the time ? Is making a living a good reason to try different stuff? I was in Colorado to ride my 300. Just had my 790 there for running errands and getting around 🤙

Awesome vid but get some Pro Bead Breakers and trail stand dude
@EverySingleSunday2 жыл бұрын
That’s just more weight to carry in a bag and the center stand will get caught on rocks and logs. This bike is usually on knobbies jumping rocks and logs
@cyclopathic9982 жыл бұрын
@@EverySingleSunday the MotionPro tire irons are aluminum and pretty light 252 grams IIRC. As for trail stand it's ~1lbs do not confuse it with center stand but you will have to carry a velcro or bungee to lock front brake to change rear tire, works in the middle of desert too ;)

hi what a bad idea to go with road tires to go on rock ... when you have one of the best off-road motorbikes on the market. ? !!!!
@EverySingleSunday3 жыл бұрын
Because I work doing reviews for BikeBandit.com and this is the tire I’ve been testing Wasn’t planning on riding something like this but the opportunity came up so we went

If I had knobbies on the bike, it would have been a boring day. These made it more interesting

Great video, please verify your statement annual deaths per year -17 at about minute 3.40. There were 11 deaths as of 2011 and maybe 17 in total. I think your statement may be misleading. If you have a reference please share, thanks again mice video and great preparation- flat repair having tube on board.

Looks like you figured out why those street tires were a bad idea. Had that happened at the peak of the pass, you'd be blocking a lot of traffic and making a huge snarl in those tight sections at a minimum. If not creating a dangerous situation for both yourself and the people who had to come rescue you. Just because you "can" do something doesn't mean you should.
@EverySingleSunday3 жыл бұрын
Yep, figured that one out for sure. The people I was with were the ones that convinced me to go with them that day. I’ll be back on a more aggressive tire next time

Because my buddies dragged me out. I had this bike to ride home to California after this event. We were up there on our 300s doing some real riding
@kevinbroadway53983 жыл бұрын
i dont understand why you did not put knobblies on it instead of worry about it the whole trip

I went to Colorado to ride dirt bikes, not adventure bikes A friend picked me up and I drove with them from CA to CO Plan was to have the 790 so I could ride it back to California since they we’re staying in Colorado for a month. These tires would have been great for riding home Had a couple down days so we decided to get out and see what we could do on these tires
