200 tds is normal. Go for cardinal tetras, Harlequin rasboras, rummynose tetras anything of these species. Rummynose will form best schooling

@@shivangagarwal5328 These fishes are pretty hardy and they can tolerate a vast verity of pH, temp and nitrate level. Just you have to perform 30% water change every week and you need an well established tank. Otherwise you can keep guppies, mollies, swordtails, widow tetras, zebra danios etc but they won't form a good schooling.

I got 2 blood parrot and they are still lil babies. Like around 1 inch or so. Our regular tap water TDS is around 118. My goal is to keep the TDS level between 300 to 200. In order to achieve this I have to do the water change daily or sometime every second day. No real or artificial plants in the tank just few hiding spots with power filter and air pump. Is there any reason that you can imagine why TDS is increasing so frequently. I do vacuum the gravel for any waste every time I change the water. Also my tank is like 8 days old or so.

@@Happyfinsandnature I did replace gravel to aquarium sand and issue still remains the same. I have removed the power filter and ceramic blocks as well & currently it's just the sand plus, air stone, regular pump and one hiding spot. Yesterday evening I drained the entire tank, added aquarium sand after washing. Before draining TDS was 318 and after refilling TDS was 210. In morning TDS was 318 ,changed 50% and added ro water TDS was dropped to 194 @ 1:24PM , 216 @ 2:32PM, 232 @ 2:58PM, 245 @ 03:59. 30% water changed & now TDS is 199. This is stressing the fish as well and I'm not able to understand the reason why is it increasing :(. Yellow parrot got black spots and eyes have turned black as well, not eating pellets either but active to some extent. Not sure what to do now.

@@LBitoeverything why are you running after tds. More than perfect tds it is important to keep the parameters stable. If you want to reduce tds, you need to use ro water but more than that dont change water so frequently. You just destroyed the tank by taking out complete water and changing all filter media. Now tank has to complete the cycling again. Your fishes are stressed not because of tds but because of you changing things too frequently. Let them settle down first. Now change 20% water once in every 2-3 days

Well, 2500+ is too much. I guess the tds meter is not showing you the correct result. Anything more than 1200 will make the water very salty. Check the parameters once again... Bosemani dying may be because of high salt or other parameters not suitable for them..

Well, thank you for your comment. Unfortunately, there is nothing less expensive in market at this moment. API master test kit gives most accurate information but it costs like ₹3000 but it lasts many months or even years if used wisely. So I would say the price is not that high...

pH 8.5 Is very high for discus. Try to bring it down to around 7.5 at least. You can use coco peat or drift wood to bring down the pH. There are many chemicals also available in market to reduce pH or use bottled water.

KH is can't really control aprt from mixing some RO water. KH and GH goes hand in hand. So, if you want to reduce kH reduce gH as well. However, too low of gH is also not good for fishes or shrimps. Even your plants will suffer from lack of minerals in water column.

Unfortunately I don't think so. You can use the water however for gardening. Theoretically, you could. Water changes are used to reduce the levels of elevated nutrients like nitrates and phosphates. Water changes are also used to replace ions depleted or reduced by algae. In order to keep the balance correct, you would have to test for all the ions that get out whack over time and take the proper actions to bring them into balance. In small systems, like below 100 gallons, it is probably cheaper and easier to do regular water changes.

Not possible. Unless you check and know what's the current value how would you control it? TDS, pH, KH, GH ankhon se dikhne wala chees nehi hai. So you need to depend on test kit.

Unfortunately there no other brand which makes this master test kit. There is something indian but the results are not at all upto the mark. Rest all kits are for marine tanks. Most important things to test are ammonia, nitrite, nitrate and pH of your water. Master test kit from API is the only product which gives you all the results.
