Notes 13:07 Can use a canvas to make a whole mini-dashboard with buttons (so cool!!) 15:29 Disable a button running a long time to prevent double clicks 15:43 You can show a button's progress via the custom label while the button is running (why did I never think of this?) 16:15 Automations don't work with buttons that have CurrentUser 16:37 You can have a column button reference itself 18:13 Canvas pages are the same as regular pages 18:52 This is really cool. 19:10 Creating a canvas is like creating a page. This can be a source of potential lag with a many rows.

Paul, I really want to know how you coded the task list at the 3:55 mark. Can you share? I can wait to see your next 10 videos ;-)

I get that there was a massive amount of content presented here and there was a desire to keep the video as short as possible, but it was very hard to follow due to the speed of delivery and the constantly changing screens. Please consider slowing down the videos, even if they are longer, or separate into multiple videos. Or, perhaps present basics here on KZbin and keep more advanced topics for your Patreons (of which I will become!). Great stuff.

Thanks for the feedback. What I'll do when I have extra time is I finally launch my blog and publish this in an article form. Will that help?

@@CodaTricks Just to counter this. I loved the pace. Excellent having so much information in a such a concise video. There were a couple of parts I had to hit the rewind button to watch again but I’d rather do that and be able to catch 95% of the information at this speed.

@@d.robertshaw Thanks! Just FYI (I guess I should make an episode about that lol) you can use < and > on computer to move one frame back and one frame forward when paused. Could help with catching those quick frames or looking at demos frame by frame

I appreciate the pacing of this video; I find it more engaging than the slower, shorter formats that Coda produces on its channel. There are various types of audiences, and each prefers to consume content at their own pace. The inclusion of advanced tricks is beneficial, and slowing down the pace might deter some viewers from watching the video to the end, similar to the issue with your older longer videos. I did rewind certain parts of the video, but that's the advantage of video-on-demand it can be watched at the viewer's convenience, unlike a live stream.

Value is awesome, still, the installation of that value into the brain is important too. You speak English, remember how you built the synopsis? Gradually, with 1. The right purpose(motivation - interest) 2. Gradual interlinking new words into the familiar context 3. Repeating. So, learning is not transferring, but rather installation. Please, could you see it this way? Thanks! Ps obviously your knowledge is the highest value, no doubt here, it’s just would be great to take it too, and not feeling like Pyatachok who’s watching eating Winnipooh and not able to bite. Thanks!

Not sure I’m following the whole 'Pyatachok' analogy lol. The purpose of this episode is to be a visualized reference for all things buttons. The practical application will be all over many of my future individual 'how-to' episodes. Also when I was making this fast-paced deep dive ep, as my target viewer I imagined a person who was already using buttons to some extent but might not be thinking of some ways to use them. It is a common fallacy, e.g. a person discovers Coda has buttons either by tinkering or through Coda's videos (shoutout to Maria!) and uses them for single actions, and is confident that they now know the feature. They wouldn't even think that there is a whole other way to use buttons with many actions and flexible algorithms. When Maria or Micah or Scott make a video on how to perform both the ModifyRows() and a Notify() action in the same button's click, such person is already mindblown. But it's just one of the many gaps the person might have had. The goal of my videos like this one is to actually help the person see and fill all the gaps they might've had about this particular feature in the shortest time possible.

@@CodaTricks are you sure the approach of reading mind is acceptable here? Manipulation works with the search engines, that is to say you match search queries - interest point with the actual value(like form and essence), human’s brain works differently, it constructs an image, it sees, it feels rather then fills the gaps 🙂 Eventually every school leaves a frame which frames exactly this - image 🙂 Don’t compare - create, don’t look aside, when you need to look inside 🙂 Imagine you’re teaching a child, your child, would you care about what others teach? Never. You teach image - your image 🙂 Maria is a brilliant teacher, she teaches her internal insight - she often repeats her knowledge from totally different angles and we all know about teaching = repeating. If you will dare to share your internal image, not being afraid to share too much - it would be a bomb. And we all know that exactly such bombs win wars for the souls.
