16:27 Suspension part explanation was beautiful… I rarely cared about suspension as far as no back/body pain for me. Why there is no mono shock absorber for cruiser wouldn’t it solve the comfortable part.

The context setting at the beginning was great - what to expect from a certain kind of a bike and how it should perform. There are technical limitations to certain platforms like cruisers having a low seat height hence shorter travel springs, equating to less comfort. Most people don't get this, they just expect since the seating is more "relaxed", it will be a comfortable bike. Also appreciated the discussion around bike design - what makes a thunderbird a pseudo cruiser vs the meteor. Form over function on the cruisers, etc. What I think could also have been discussed is Harris Performance's role in the design of the new RE bikes. Given that their history is more on the SBK side of things, how much were they involved in designing a cruiser, if at all.

Love the format. I think you have the discussion about whether cruisers (bike types) are relevant to India before the expectation from the specific bike, and keep the rest of it as is. The concept of having a first ride discussion of a new bike on ThisConnect where the both of you talk to each other over it is genius. Keep this as a thing going forward. I always love it when both of you are talking to each other on bike reviews as compared to the single person videos because different ideas are put forward and analyzed

As I have seen.. the podcast is not restricted by the length but its governed by the topics you can find for the motorcycle. just like the old days of me and my friends sitting and discussing without any ref photos or videos and purely based on memory we used to say about our experiences.. I felt it and it touched my heart. Shumi is just a great at dictating and explaining the bike thru words that I genuinely didn't need the visuals because I was able to visualize myself about the riding.. comfort.. the seat adjustment.. the accessories and all of it.. he's gifted at explaining intricate details in a laymans term that everyone is able to understand.. very well done and looking forward to such first impressions

I am someone who is seriously considering an upgrade from my classic 350 (which I use for both touring and commutes regularly), and this video gave me a lot of clarity. I am not a man of specs and tech, but more of a biker that wants a good looking functional motorcycle to tour India with 3 metal panniers and sometimes a pillion. I was waiting for the super meteor to be out, but was bummed out to find that the showrooms are yet to receive test mules in Chennai. And so, all I could do was look at the display piece and imagine the rest. While I liked many things about it, the footpeg position, ground clearance and possible width (after fixing my own panniers) did not inspire confidence. Thanks to you, now I have a better idea of what would be best for me. Also, I love this no nonsense honest discussion format of yours, so please continue doing this from time to time. As someone who's planning to get the SM650 as a "secondary" motorcycle, this was extremely informational. "Super"thanks (pun intended). As for the length of the podcast, I think you guys nailed it, 30-45 minutes is the most time needed to dish out the most important information to an audience, specially ones who are actual motorcycle/car enthusiasts. And I agree, on some if not all the pointers regarding "cruisers" technically not being for comfort more than style, and backing them up with the technical angle was definitely the way to go. Amazing piece of intel as always. Don't change anything, keep it as you planned it, short, crisp, factful and CORRECT. When you can get an audience to stick around for a 40 minute video on Monday morning in between office calls, "WITHOUT" overlaying cringe worthy bike shots, flashy but honestly tacky graphics, high velocity cut scenes and "dhamakedaar" music.. I 'd say you already have a hit!

I think RE did a great job on this bike from what I have seen so far….I’m retired in Thailand and want to start touring a little bit.. and my only option was triumph speed master.. the SM would be more budget friendly and more economical for me and I think it looks just as nice.. and I believe will have the power to do what I need… now we just need to get them into my local dealer… thank you RE… for giving me a more economical choice….

Loved every bit of this podcast. This is one of the few podcasts where I will not tap on the screen to see how much is left for the video to end. It's like all you need to know before taking a test ride kind of a podcast. You are kind of setting a perspective which a rider needs to have before going to test ride the super meteor 650. I have two colleagues who wanted to buy the bike but kind of stalled their decision after checking the spec sheet. I have forwarded them this video so that it helps them in taking a decision. Edit: I would like to see a podcast where you discuss about how to tastefully customize your motorcycle cosmetically or about brake upgrades like brake fluid boiling points, pad material, performance upgrades like engine components/exhausts/ecu tuning etc.

This format simply works! I’m able to potter around the house, or drive, while listening to the podcast. Don’t have to keep my eyes glued to my phone screen all the time, and that for me, is the clincher. If I want to ‘see’ the bike/car/machine/accessory being discussed, plenty of channels to go to, when I can. But for a quality discussion on the subject at hand, this is an outright winner!!

The genuine heart to heart connection between a machine and the emotions it evokes. I like how shumi spends a lot of time discussing about suspension, handlebars, footpegs, and all small details that affect the experience and not only the engine and basics. There was no mention of power, torque, rev range, weight or any thing that spec already shows and that is how a conversation becomes interesting. Definitely open to get more length of these sessions. Also like to suggest if you guys can take random QnA or a separate QnA video about motorcycles in general.

This has to be one of the best bike reviews that I have seen. Initially I was sceptical as to how this would go, but as the video progressed, realised that this format actually made a lot of sense. I think listing out these reasons would be a good idea. 1. No music or shots to distract the viewer and they actually pay attention more easily. 2. Motorcycles and rides are always about feelings and stories we have on the ride. Every time a brother or a friend returns from a ride, we are as excited to listen to the stories at least equally, if not more than the person telling that story. And this format gave that feeling of just sitting with your friends listening to their stories and experiences and how the bike performed. 3. One big advantage of this format, was that it allowed the conversation to not be a one track thing about just the bike itself, but gave a more wider perspective in terms of the format, the other bikes that are out there, maybe some topics that are just not spoken about in a traditional bike review....just because it never comes up. Loved the video... kindly do not match the length of the video to how long you ride the bike 😂😂

18:47 on my way to work, I have patch of bump on road where I always try use brake to slowdown my Avenger till a point closer to bump & then releasing it just as it touches it, man the bike glides through it. Shumi is very good at the explaining the concept vs practicality. The part of what RE could've achieved by adding ride by wire vs the cost was good and I think that is limiting factor at most cases. Excellent information on the Super Meteor. I experienced this motorcycle (tourer package) from Andheri to Navi Mumbai. Scraped the first breaker and then cleared them all. Result = using the footpegs to squat over breakers and bad roads involves some leap of faith on the suspensions and unintentional downshifts thanks to a large gear shifter with heel extension. Palm beach offered a nice stretch, but I did not enjoy the exhaust note while the engine still has a mechanical character allowing wheel spins on lower speed accelerations on 2nd gear. This motorcycle hates chasing top-speed figures and is a calm cruiser apt for format lovers. Loved the brakes, good bite, and progression; while U-turns make it feel a bit heavier than most motorcycles, the dimensions and weight would involve some adaptation. Friendly pricing on the format by RE and good information, but we would love some tracking shots or motorcycle shots as breakers from your handsome faces.

Thank you Amal! Glad it worked for you! Cost analysis is very hard to do without a lot of shot in the dark guesses because most brands will give you (sometimes) an overall figure of development cost. But break downs of that are almost never publicly revealed. It puts pressure on them from the investors as well as is information a competitor could use against them.

This format of review/discussion is such a gem. Like two friends discussing this in middle of the day. I literally plugged this in while working and it was pure bliss! Couple of things where I think the format can be improved upon - As this was a first ride review I think that should be mentioned well and what one can notice in first ride and what aspects needs more time to be spent on the seat to conclude. - Extending this format to review long term bikes say after 5K or 10K Kms, which might give a better perspective in terms of living with the motorcycles and we as audience can make a informed decision. - I wish both of you could share your experience rather than from the pov of just Shumi. No doubt the shared experience was wonderful, but having someone to tell the story from a different pov matters. This format is great for discussion, thoughts and disagreements. Meteor and super meteor are the only two bikes which i had found to be comfortable and practical for my purpose. This is my opinion after i have rode the KTMs, husky's, x440, tvs's, suzuki and yamaha's.

When I used to watch Zigwheels & Powerdrift, I always used to think that if both Karthikeya & Shumi could join hands. Now my dream has come true. These two are best of the best. Keep going, first impression in podcast format is an exciting. Coming to the Super Meteor, every review I've watched highlighted how good it is and so on. But only in podcast I found out what the true setbacks are to the cruiser design. Like Shumi said, the forward footpegs will truly make your butts pain. The most amazing thing that clicked to me that it can be a new format of review as well alongside the traditional one as it is just 2 friends talking, sharing experiences, asking questions and building upon the things said making it more relevant to the end user and real world scenarios. If something that can be added I think it should be a little segment of what that motorcycle ride did to your soul and heart in that confined space of time and what was the overall feeling which an average rider but with good knowledge can expect out of the buying and living experience.

Thanks Abhishek! Glad you liked that... the guests are a good idea. We've thought about it but it will take us a while to organise a space/set to accommodate more people (being worked out though). Brand names are strange things. Creating a new one is limitless freedom to invent stuff. Using an old one means it comes with its own boundaries. But is there a thumb rule to when to use new/old? Not that we are aware of. We know this. The reward of using an existent brand on a terrific consonant product is massive. The risk? It's just about the same size and harder to recover from... neither the product, nor the equity of the brand emerge from that disaster untarnished.

So....I finally made up my mind and bought the Super Meteor, yes, ride wise, its a lot different from the other bikes i owned previously. And yes there is a breaking in period for one to get used to this bike format. But suprisingly it didnt take much time. Been on a few rides with it and I can honestly say, i am in love with it. On the highway, it sits beautifully at around 100/110 with enough room for acceleration in 'zap-that-truck' mode. because of the long rake angle, it was super glued to the tarmac and planted, Suspension wise, it is exactly how you described it, it is stiff at the rear shocks and it hits the tail bone directly....one peeve i have come to terms with. other than that. I quite like the cruiser format. (my previous bikes were the RD 350 and the Classic500 and an over modded RXG) Speedwise, the bike maxes out at around 150-155 (i weigh over a hundred) and i wished that maybe a little more cc's, i think a 750 cc engine and some more horses would have been perfect..but thats just me, i am a wednesdays child...never satisfied......CIty ride also is just a matter of getting used to, can i throw it around like a hooligan bike, maybe not, but i can hold my own and ride it like the hooligan i always was and will be. i come from a time where there werent many choices and we made good on what we could afford and did everything with it even if it meant your ride of choice was probably meant only to delivery milk. today, the number of choices and opinions both exist and point in the same direction on the graph sheet (which is not a bad thing).....but I, like the humble bumble bee (which is the least aerodynamic winged creature on the planet) ignore all laws of physics and fly anyway...or in my case...suit up and ride......

Shumi here. I disagree with images/illustrations being essential to the conversation at many levels. Least of which is that they distract you more than the conversation informs. And that collecting footage for 40min of discussion at our quality level would be a nightmare. However, if there's a specific thing you didn't understand because of a lack of an image... and you could point this out? It would help us figure out how to attack the problem better.

Understood. We believe we can make things simpler without needing to resort to graphics and visual aids. We'll work on this. Promise. 5:32: The telescopic forks have the thinner tube that slides into the oil/springs contained in the fatter tube. What K is saying is that the farther you angle them outwards from the bike (think of a sports bike as close and a cruiser as far) the harder it gets to make them work. Because the wheel only travels up and down over bumps. The closer the angle of the fork is to vertical, the easier its job is. So cruisers, naturally have a more difficult job. 24:57: S is saying that because the air's path (intake) into the engine and the burnt gasses' path (exhaust) has been changed, the way the engine makes power and torque will change _slightly_ here and there. This is usually represented as a power/torque curve. On the Super Meteor, the curves will differ slightly because of the changes, but they will peak at the same places as the Interceptor or Continental GT.

Okay so after watching this for a second time, 1. This was the most comprehensive review of the bike I could find anywhere I was left extremely satisfied and I had all the information I needed 2. This format is perfect to just leave on in the background while I jog or do chores 3. The greatest advantage of the long format is that you could cover almost every base and structure it into segments that i could easily click on in the scroll bar and go to the exact part I wanted 4. this format gets lackluster after a while. It's soothing and informative, but lacks any excitement and flair. I know what the bike made Shumi think but not what it made him feel. 4.1 this reminds me of my childhood where I eagerly awaited my autocar magazine to read about cars i could only dream of, is an article in a podcast 4.2 it really lacks what makes the format of video reviews excellent, the emotion and excitement that's tangible when you do a ride review. I hope to see a pov ride review soon (see Zack courts on Revzilla) I think both the formats have their place 5. Most of these reviews seem to be K asking and shumi giving his opinion, I understand this was the only way to do this particular review, since S had ridden the motorcycle and K hadn't, but still maybe a little more balance would be nice I hope this helped! 4. This was to be expected. This _is not_ a review. It's a set of feelings from the first impression ride/drive. That's why feelings take a back seat to more practical concerns like using one daily (and then, buying one). POV reviews are _very unlikely_. The person who will convince Shumi to talk while he's riding? We're still looking for that stalwart 😆. 5. This was also to be expected... What that led to was the most unhappy 3 years of my life however it also taught me what type of bike I love and what I want from my next bike .. Gadkari saab has limited the environment even more for the Super Meteor by not allowing us to go on expressways. One must practically sit down and plan on a long distance tour if taking this motorcycle. With ADV that is not a consideration. The most amazing thing about the Super Meteor in spite of price difference from Interceptor still is- it being value for money. What you can still help your audience dwell into more is if one wants to upgrade to a 650 from other formats (naked or ADV but lower displacement), is SuperMeteor still worth it or should one go for Interceptor or even the ADVs in 500 and 650 class. Why I want to ask is again because of the price temptation when switching. The discussion was great, length and content appropriateness wise. Thanks alot.
