Hum. Don't give up on this album, Anthony. The sad lyrics you mention are not just sad. This is probably, for my ears, the most heart-wrenching pop album i heard since ages. That "fat kid in a push chair" verse alone made me cry more than once. It's an album about having access to all this information about how much the big wigs are screwing us over and the rage that comes with it, but knowing in your heart that there is an actual limit to what you can actually do about it. I'm portuguese so i understand this completely, the greeks must understand it pretty well too. Give it another listen, with focus on the lyrics, tell us about it. Thank you for everything! Have you ever checked out their debut album, Man Alive? Easily their best IMO, and probably my favourite album of 2010. The yelping, zany falsetto was definitely already there but not as prominent on that record, and I think most of their best tunes are on there too. Schoolin (one of my favourite choruses ever), Final Form, Two For Nero, Come Alive Diana and Weights are all brilliant, several other tracks are almost as good.

Really enjoyed this review, The lyrics are one of the things I also personally find interesting about everything everything. Good use of metaphors and some unusual words thrown in occasionally as well.

This is an incredible album with such a diverse range of styles. These guys also have an incredible sense of melody and rhythm which seems to propel the music, which at times can sound a bit cheesy, yet it all seems to work as a whole. This just may turn out to be one of my top five albums from 2015. I have only listened to this album a few times since first hearing it yesterday, but it seems like one of those albums that has a lot to offer, and rewards with repeat listens. I am very impressed to say the least, and I highly recommend this album to anyone with a penchant for music that is eclectic but very much melodic and thoroughly enjoyable at once. This music almost reminds me of a modern-day XTC, and has a similar quirky pop sensibility about it.

I can't stop listening to this album. it's the first album in a while that I seem to like every single song!! I think you should read into the lyrics more because there are some dark themes juxtaposing the instrumental but I think the effect would be better once you actually get to grips with what the meaning behind the song is because it's quite powerful, and a very intriguing commentary on current society as well as current issues happening mostly in the UK

Fair review, even if I disagree with your praise of 'Distant Past' and 'Regret', as well as you referring to 'The Wheel (Is Turning Now' and 'Fortune 500' as a ''lull' - those two are personal favourites. Hi Anthony. Another great review by the way, and you seem to appreciate the musical complexity on this record, but as a big fan of the band, I can't help but feel that you bypass the lyrical depth somewhat, and where the meanings of the songs were coming from.
