Hum. Don't give up on this album, Anthony. The sad lyrics you mention are not just sad. This is probably, for my ears, the most heart-wrenching pop album i heard since ages. That "fat kid in a push chair" verse alone made me cry more than once. It's an album about having access to all this information about how much the big wigs are screwing us over and the rage that comes with it, but knowing in your heart that there is an actual limit to what you can actually do about it. I'm portuguese so i understand this completely, the greeks must understand it pretty well too. Give it another listen, with focus on the lyrics, tell us about it. Thank you for everything! (everything)

Have you ever checked out their debut album, Man Alive? Easily their best IMO, and probably my favourite album of 2010. The yelping, zany falsetto was definitely already there but not as prominent on that record, and I think most of their best tunes are on there too. Schoolin (one of my favourite choruses ever), Final Form, Two For Nero, Come Alive Diana and Weights are all brilliant, several other tracks are almost as good.

Really enjoyed this review, The lyrics are one of the things I also personally find interesting about everything everything. Find it really fascinating how the lyricist takes simple ideas, and then elongates the concept into a full song by writing from different perspectives. Good use of metaphors and some unusual words thrown in occasionally as well.

This is an incredible album with such a diverse range of styles. These guys also have an incredible sense of melody and rhythm which seems to propel the music, which at times can sound a bit cheesy, yet it all seems to work as a whole. This just may turn out to be one of my top five albums from 2015. I have only listened to this album a few times since first hearing it yesterday, but it seems like one of those albums that has a lot to offer, and rewards with repeat listens. I am very impressed to say the least, and I highly recommend this album to anyone with a penchant for music that is eclectic but very much melodic and thoroughly enjoyable at once. This music almost reminds me of a modern-day XTC, and has a similar quirky pop sensibility about it.

Man I loved this album when I first heard and it's only grown on me more. I love The Wheel, even if the ending is a little overlong - the lyrics are so amazing and I just love the development of the song. Also, Warm Healer is really one of my biggest disappointments at first, but now I bloody love it. The bass groove of the verses and the DRUMS in the chorus along with the AMAZING melody - I just love how chill and beautiful the track is.

I’ve returned to this album again and again for the past 3 years and every time im blown away from the none stop bangers on it. I can't stop listening to this album. it's the first album in a while that I seem to like every single song!! I think you should read into the lyrics more because there are some dark themes juxtaposing the instrumental but I think the effect would be better once you actually get to grips with what the meaning behind the song is because it's quite powerful, and a very intriguing commentary on current society as well as current issues happening mostly in the UK

Fair review, even if I disagree with your praise of 'Distant Past' and 'Regret', as well as you referring to 'The Wheel (Is Turning Now' and 'Fortune 500' as a ''lull' - those two are personal favourites. The band manage to encapsulate a more sinister theme and present it in a catchy way with the groovy rhythm or bouncy percussion respectively and, at times, perhaps even lighthearted and optimistic with the brilliant use of high vocals. And yes, The King of Limbs is a fantastic album

Interestingly my favorite song from their album was We Sleep In Paris from the deluxe edition extra songs which they refereed to as the "few bad songs included just because we can. But needless to say, I loved every bit of this album. Very rarely do I find myself loving all of the songs on an album and this was one of the few rare exceptions. Looking forward to their new stuff.

I found this album due to the Spotify Weekly stuff, where "Blast Doors" was recommended to me. Still my favourite song on the album and the entire album is one of my favourites! I do see the criticism of some of the songs, not all of them are perfect. I was just a bit disappointed in the rest of Everything Everything's discography.

You should check out their new single Bad Friday that was just released last week. I think it’s a return to something better. I’m hopeful about their new album.

i loves this album. super energetic production. great vocals, catchy hooks, and great political lyrics (though can’t really do it justice as I don’t live in the UK.) plus, listening to the deluxe edition, with 6 extra songs , is definitely worth it.

Hi Anthony. Another great review by the way, and you seem to appreciate the musical complexity on this record, but as a big fan of the band, I can't help but feel that you bypass the lyrical depth somewhat, and where the meanings of the songs were coming from. Higgs' written lyrics on all three EE albums tell a fascinating story of modern life, and I think that should be commended. None the less, thank you for your reviews, you've opened my eyes and ears to a bunch of new stuff 👍🏼

this album is aging like a good wine, it's 2024 and it still spots on on my daily playlist. A "smart" (don't want to call it "prog") album, with a lot of nice hooks, yet still sophisticated and refreshing. One of my AOTY 2015.

i came across them bcs im a foals fan and jeremy played with foals when they lost their bassist. then i heard some of their songs on spotify hm cool. then went to hmv (record store in uk) and saw the album and was like f it. imma give it a go. adored it. start to finish. this december will be my 5th time seeing them live lmao. only seen foals twice😂😂. my dad adores everything everything too. theyre our thang. i have a tattoo of their lyrics. everything everything and enter shikari will always be my favourite artists. they take their genres and experiment with it. best thing ever.

nice review and very happy to see you review this record. This is a rare case I think I feel pretty similarly about an album to you. Although i don't have issue with the falsetto vocals at all really. The 1st 6 tracks are really strong, and it seems to be a pretty good grower album...also I'm pretty jealous of your vinyl copy of Mirrored.

I know, commenting on this video very late but I only recently got into the album. I'd have to say blast doors is my favorite since it's the first I listened to and the chorus is beautiful. But regret and brainchild are close seconds, very good.

I'm having the same exact gripe with a few Japanese bands lately. Polysics, The Birthday, Sherbets... They've all been on US digital markets before, but I just can't get my hands on their new stuff this year.

really enjoyed blast doors actually, the chorus was gigantic. but distant past is clearly the highlight. the falsetto to deadpan shifts in the vocals really reminded me of mess on a mission.
