Hannah 100% "got" and connected to this movie more than Ash did. @@deadlyrobot5179 I get that, and that's how I felt about Thor Love and Thunder. But this is difference, because it's not throwing a bunch of random jokes at you hoping they're funny. Many of the surreal elements aren't even meant to be funny, they're meant to enhance and demonstrate the deeper themes of the movie. This movie is a modern masterpiece. Everything about it is so well done. It isn't just a good hilarious action movie, but it also has lots of profound philosophy, themes, messages and symbolisms. It tackles two opposing approach to existentialism; pessimistic nihilism and optimistic absurdism. Also the duality of google eyes (white outside, black inside) and everything bagel (black outside, white inside) is like a yin-yang of those ideals. Joy is the nihilistic "nothing matters anyway, so might as well end everything" and Evelyn is like the optimistic "nothing matters anyway, so might as well enjoy things" which she learned from Waymond's mentality of absurdity (represented by googly eyes), the idea of enjoying life as it is.

Yeah, literally every moment, every aspect of this film has deep symbolism and themes, so it was never just repeating itself or being random. Even Big Nose's laundry number is 042 aka the meaning of life, the universe and everything. And the random hot dog fingers in their mouths represent the wild variations of kinks and ways of connecting people can have. And how the intention and heart is what matters. I am still personally trying to work out the meaning of the Big Nose dog throwing scene, beyond just reminding the viewers of the beginning of the film and that Big Nose and the laundromat exist... Maybe hypocrisy (her being offended at Evalyn hurting the dog) and the way people can abuse the ones they love when trying to get their way? It also seems to be a reference to a woman in real life who did something like that with her dog, so maybe it's hoping to remind people of that incident and prove that even all the wild things in the film might not be that far from reality.

I love the difference in opinions that you guys had because that is literally the film. Ash is expecting every single thing in this movie to mean something while Hanna is just enjoying and she’s not too focused on what it means. And if we look at the film; that’s the premise for the Mother & Daughter. Joy/Jobu expects life to have meaning, but when she got the ability to be present in all realities (the multiverse), life quickly loses meaning for her. Like she said “everything is a RANDOM rearrangement of particles in a vibrating superposition”. In her view, her life was the result of a random probability. Thats why she had the mentality of “nothing matters anyway so why should I bother trying?” Evelyn on the other hand had a different view. She realised that nothing mattered. But because nothing matters, you can do whatever you want. Who cares?? If you want sausage fingers up your mouth? Go for it! It doesn’t matter!

If you become distracted or just aren't ready to fully absorb it, it might very easily go from being one of the best films ever made (which it is), to feeling like it's nothing more than, "LOL XD Random." Almost every single moment in the entire film is necessary to understand and enjoy the rest. It's not like a lot of other movies where you can turn your brain off or look away for a bit and still be fine. And I'm not even saying like, "only smart people will understand it," it's really not hard to grasp at least the surface messages your supposed to get from it. You just gotta be there to take it in. Also, it can just be too fast for some people, and that's fine. Nothing's for everybody and it doesn't make you dumb or the movie bad.

A lot of my friends had a similar reaction to Ash. It sucks because it's one of my favorite films. I think many fail to see the plot through the wackiness. Some people, like Hannah can appreciate the wackiness and the creativity and capture the plot and the message through that. There's nothing wrong with the way Hannah or Ash see the film. That is why we have Films. It touches everyone in a different way. Parents transfer their trauma and experiences to their children. It happens a lot. And what's difficult for parents to accept is that... they're wrong. They become so caught up in their life and ways that they fail to see how wrong they are. In this movie you see the struggle Ewelyn has throughout the entire film. It took a rollercoaster and confusion and Dimension travel to be able to accept it. Many parents have to jump through so many hoops to admit they are wrong and grow. The message was the same throughout the film and yes there was a lot of wacky stuff. I personally didn't mind it. I didn't notice it until Ash mentioned it. (thanks for that Ash.. you killed this movie for me -___-) lol jk. Overall... This movie isn't for everyone. Many people have mixed feelings. One thing is certain. This film deserved the awards it got. For many reasons. The actors for one. Crazy comeback stories with the actors. Two- The story. Name another movie with this plot and Scifi dimension travel like this.... I'll wait. Three the Directors. Look into how they made the film and you'll see how much work they put into this. All in all this movie is cemented as one of the greates scifi movies ever made. And if you don't agree... Sausage fingers.

This went over Ash’s head. But I suspect he as ADHD and he can’t concentrate on a movie like this.

Such a fantastical, weird, sad, but also happy, film. "in another life, I would have loved just doing laundry and taxes with you."

Best movie of 2022 for me. So many auto pilot movies, I LOVED the creativity. Favorite shot edit of the year was when joy is searching and flicking her head.

Ash was all in until it got emotional. I love that Hanna enjoyed this movie.

This movie changed my brain chemistry and helped to let go of so much generational trauma, finally a movie that talked about everything i felt. From a daugthers point of view with mother issues and whos mother is an immigrant, it really truly hit home for me. So i always wondered, what's the difference between people who understand this movie and those who don't, i concluded that the answer is EQ, emotional intelligence. The movie is all about symbolism that represents generational trauma and the value of life. The title "Everything everywhere all at once" is literally the movie in itself. life is nothing without laughter in between the darkness we stuggle with.

The chaos of the movie is intentionally over the top, as I’d the humor, the wackiness feeds into the idea that, the multiverse is wacky and unpredictable and life is too, it’s funny but the humor is deeper than “weird hot dog fingers” it’s all metaphorical of the chaotic nature of things, as well as an allegory for undiagnosed ADHD, anyone who has ADHD knows this movie is how your brain feels

You should really check "Swiss Army Man" by same directors. If you thought this was wacky, you are not ready for "Swiss Army Man"😃

Im actually really surprised that Hannah didnt take to Waymond right away. I instantly adored him. I think hes really the heart of the film. He adds a great perspective in contrast to Joy's nihilism.

This movie absolutely blew me away. The editing and the complete insanity of the storyline, was just like nothing I've seen before. I understand if it's not for everyone, but it was an aggressive rolercoaster while being slapped in the face, and i loved it

Seeing Hannah react to and enjoy this reeeeaally makes me want to see her react to Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Another wacky one but with a strong message about a relationship. Jim Carrey in a serious role and his best role imo along with Kate Winslet. I hope you guys watch it one day. 😊❤

Probably would have benefitted Ash to speculate a bit less with this film. So much happens so quickly, looking for "symbolisms" is best left for post-film discussion (cause there's a lot of it). It's cool though, as much as I love this film and think it deserves every accolade it gets, it's also weird and niche and not for everyone. Surprised it's gotten as much attention as it has.

Ash has no actual idea what symbolism is, and has never even bothered to look it up

@@conorkyle2175 i like both Ash and Hannah. Love their reactions, but I have to agree with you a little lol. Some of the things he calls symbolisms are not symbolisms. It's kinda funny lol
@conorkyle2175 Жыл бұрын
@@lydiaking322 I like them and the channel too - which is why it’s disappointing that when he gets to a movie that’s actually rich in symbol and metaphor, he sometimes doesn’t even notice or care (not a word on Brooks releasing the crow in Shawshank as actual symbolism, for instance?) - there’s a lot of articles, classes, and analysis out there for anyone to learn about the essentials of film theory and storytelling. it’s just weird to use an actual complex film idea as a catch-phrase and not dig any deeper at all

Ash keeps saying his versions of the symbolism and its funny because almost every thing he sasys is wrong.
@peo6368 Жыл бұрын
is really ironic that someone that could find symbolism even in transformers movies didnt say anything about this one, if you watch it again frame by frame is nonsense how many things you can find. I really suggest hanna to watch it again in silence and try to spot everything, spoiler alert if you try you will need to re-do it again is insane

Glad you guys finally got to this one. One thing it seemed like almost EVERYONE agreed with was that it would go from sentimental to hot dog fingers (Hannah….calm down 😂). People were like “I’d be happy if I didn’t see hot dog fingers again”. I loved the movie and when I saw it in early 2022 I said it should be movie of the year (Top Gun Tried to sneak in).

Ash definitely didn’t get the message of the movie. The “wacky” parts are important to the story and aren’t just used as symbols.

What makes this film incredible is how it tells many different stories all of which are linked to one central message and ultimately, one story. Not many films manage to accomplish that!
