I love how carmine in this game kind of goes through an ark. He starts off as green as can be and constantly losing it. But starts getting it together as the game goes on. Only for him to die immediately after finally coming into his own. It makes his death more tragic and you actually care when he dies

@@stephenb3104 in hindsight, the only thing the characters needed to do for him to survive was have enough tactical awareness to notice that he had no way of holding on if they were forced into evasive maneuvers and then just grab hold of his arms to weigh him down to something.

My favourite interaction has to be Dom saying he doesn't wear a helmet so he can see snipers better, 5 mins later tells Carmine to take point against a bunch of snipers.

Spoliers : Dom wife maria death brokes my heart imagine you spending 15 years fighting an endless horde of monster in a apocalypse world where humanity is losing an hopeless war the one thing that holding you together is getting back to your wife. And in Gears of War 3 well we all know Dom finally reached his limit and well I wish people talk more about Gears of War 3 Dom Story that it's a Commentary on Sucide 😢

Having read the books I’d say he reached his limit after finding and releasing Maria, the way other character talk about him behind his back make him really seem broken and disconnected. The only thing he had to live for was to keep Marcus alive and he did what he thought was necessary in the end

He also took himself out to save the rest of the squad, if dom didn’t sacrifice Marcus, Anya, Sam, dizzy, and jace would’ve all died due to them fighting lambent and locust on top of the gas station, saving them was the reason he committed

5:35 Dom's standout feature is that he's a former Commando. Hence the knife on his chest. His particular knife was only issued to commandos during the Pendulum Wars.

Heres another win id add. From what i heard from people who met Carlos Ferro (aka doms VA) when they did this scene with Maria they gave Carlos a Dummy to hold onto and dimmed down almost all of the lighting for that scene and everyone who was watching MO cap and Carlos were in tears they went all out on that emotional scene.

IVE BEEN WAITING! Gears of War 2 was the game that my dad, bros and I played the most. My bros were only 5 and 6 and were actually pretty good (my dad let us and actually turned on the "kid" settings). We played horde mode, we played multiplayer against each other, my bros trying to outdo my dad who played online and was really good. Unlocking the various characters and trying our best to survive the onslaughts. So many Tuesdays and weekend spent having so much fun. My dad passed away in 2010, so its bittersweet. I played Dom in the co-op...

So a large reason of why Dom has been searching for Maria, aside from the fact she's his wife and they had two kids who died during E Day (which is why they're only mentioned in the cutscene when Dom is being woken up), is because she's his metaphorical heart. People in other GOW2 videos say that Dom didn't die in 3, he died when he had to shoot himself (Maria) in the heart. And I can understand why, he's been looking for her for ten years. Not 15 years or 17 years, no, ten years of searching for Maria. In a time when being missing for just seven days usually means they're dead. And once he does, the music turns into a form of heroic suffering - the scene itself is already tragic and heartbreaking enough, it's Dom's delusions she's fine, his denial, his anger, his grief, and finally the acceptance to do the hardest thing he's ever done.

I recently replayed Gears 2 and 3 in split-screen and they're still incredibly even to this day, that and Co-op does something to your brain while playing, it's like a perfect auto-sync with your teammate.

River was probably the first map I ever played on Horde. I remember playing as Baird, getting into one of the houses, setting up the Boom Shields at the doors, sniping as many enemies as I can, and getting as far as Wave 36 or 38. What was also fun was how the whole team consisted of me as Baird, Marcus, Dom, Cole, and B. Carmine. Blood Drive was another classic map for Horde, getting into one of the rooms. But the map I remember managing to get past the Final Wave was Grindyard. Also, I played GoW 2 before GoW 1.

I was born in 2003 and grew up with an Xbox and all the titles that came with it. I used to need my big brother to play the Berserker level in GOW 1! This one was always my favorite though, I loved how large scale it felt.

Gears 2 was the best. The Gears franchise was always the bonding game between me and my best friend during middleschool (the fact we both have a passing resemblance to Marcus and Dom made it all the better). The amounts of times my mom caught me playing at 3am on school nights and pulling the internet out were numerous, but always worth it. My biggest highlight on Gears 2, other than the countless sniper matches we did (sorry mate, we were those sniper assholes haha), was me clutch killing the entire enemy team as the last one standing on River .....Using only my chainsaw. They were all swarming the house I was in, but by using them as a meatshield while I was chainsawing them, made for one LEGENDARY moment we all still bring up to this day

I swear chairman Prescott's speech wouldn't be even half as good without that AMAZING ost, the music in the gears saga (specially first 3 for obvious reasons) really adds up to the great gameplay on its way to make a fucking masterpiece.

This game is nothing short of a masterpiece and doesn't get enough credit for it. Dom finding Maria has been one of the most heartbreaking experiences I've had when it comes to gaming. To see Dom gain such hope and then have torn away in such a horrendous way is the saddest thing. It literally kills him in that moment. From then on he was a dead man walking. His sacrifice in the 3rd game is all the more painful. He had nothing more to live for and yet he gave the last of himself to save his brother in arms. Where the first game showed war as badass and brutal, this game and the 3rd show the cost of war and how it can destroy everything you love.

i loved this era of gaming so much, gears of war 2 is for sure more than the sum of its parts. this was also the era when games actually came with manuals that were treated as extra supplementary in lore material, like i distinctly remember Prescott's speech after the prologue being printed in the manual before i played the game which really set the scene and immersed me in the world. its a shame we've shifted so much towards the always-online games as a service microtransation-plagued market we're in now.

So a fun story I have from this game: I played split screen with my best friend and when we got to the part where you split up to deal with the snipers he was having a heated sniper battle and just as hes almost out of ammo and has the last guy in his sights but is popping in and out of cover to fast to his and he sees a blur on the corner of his scope followed by the fountain of blood that comes from a Lancer chainsaw kill as I had darted behind the sniper that one shot it.

Your friend doing a speedrun strategy at 8:42 was actually really cool to see as I saw a video about Gears 2 speedrunning a couple days ago. If you sprint to the right of the drill you save a couple seconds during it's ending animation and can move in front of it as literally done in the video.

This was the game that got me got me hooked into the world of gaming. It will always hold a special place in my heart and memories for that very reason. Parts of the story have been forever seared into my memory with one particular moment that I think anyone who has played this series will remember forever. (I won't spoil it, but if you have played this game, you know the big gut punch that I am referring to.) I have hoped for years that they create a remaster so I can play it on my PC so I don't have to go out and buy an Xbox again, but we will see if they ever bother doing such a remaster, as they did with GOW1.

Gears 2 was practically my childhood game 😂 absolute masterpiece and such a cinematic treat, I absolutely loved Dizzy growing up since being a country kid that dirty cowboy hat getting knocked off in MP, however Dizzy had some great lines and his Armour was cool too shame he had such a small stint in the series

One of the underlying themes in this game series is that every action has an equal and opposite reaction. Every move the COG makes ends up making something worse come from it. The Lightmass bomb causes Rust Lung, flooding the hollow causes the lambent to move up to the surface and further corrupt and contaminate the world, and the third game caused the fourth and fifth games nobody wanted.

as a kid, i never really understood _in_ _depth_ what the story was. everything has much greater affect on me now that i’ve experienced a lot more. dom being in denial when he first sees maria, marcus’ first words to dom after he (dom) euthanized his wife made me feel like _marcus_ knew her to some extent. i fucking love jake the dogs delivery. i used to hate that we knew nothing about sera but now i love that epic left the world open to interpretation. then the coalition went and said they’re never gonna make a map so they can add whatever they want, it makes things even cooler. leaves a lot of doors open for us fans _and_ it doesn’t constrict writers

I have two great memories playing these with my friend. First we were up all night playing Gears2 beat it on epic and then wanted to go through a second time so he could play as dom and get the achievements. Well I feel asleep during the easy difficulty and was killed by a wratch. The other memory is gears3 final boss on epic difficulty we played till 2am couldn’t beat the final boss my friend wanted to call it quits I said let’s go to the store and come back after getting a drink and some snacks. We come back and first try beat the final boss. We still joke anout when we get stuck on a game to just go take a break and come back and beat it immediately.

I had just played through the trilogy. The three games were so much fun and emotional. And yes, gears 4 and 5 (half of it ) weren't good. But thoses two games are still being played on either Horde or Multiplayer. Hivebusters on the other looks fun and it saved Gears 5 from going into my worst games pile.

My favourite thing about Gears of War 2 was the executions... the Gnasher specifically, the amount of joy I'd get walking behind a downed enemy pushing B to have Marcus swing his shotgun so hard up the ass of a Locust as his head goes POP.

I feel like because you weren't playing as much as it came out and are now accustomed to the newer types of games, you ended up undermining Gears. The lore is very interesting, the character are deeper than the surface and the dylema with immuksion, war and the locust is very interesting. Stating that gears is just about big muscly dudes shooting stuff is just too surface level. Watching the dev diaries, behind the scenes and reading a bit more shows that it's deeper. I think your videos could be even better if you went in a little deeper with all games. For instance, there's a concept in gears of war called Destroyed Beauty, that was the idea behind what you mentioned about the art style and graphics. I really love Gears, especially the first 3, and I feel like you could use this channel to show viewers a bit more behind what makes games they don't know great. Keep being awesome!

Gears of War could really use a remastered version, not a remake though as we all know how awfully Sweet Baby modern remakes go. Gears is a fun franchise with an interesting universe and I think it could find a renewed audience if it had modern visuals and controls.

When Halo 4 was released in 2012 I was seriously ticked off. Halo 3 made the Elephants for their multiplayer maps in 2007. Gears of War 2 took them, renamed them rigs or Derricks, and made a campaign mission in 2008 that blows Halo 4 out of the water.

Skorge is definitely at the level of Raam, he was a badass, the problem is he was such a wasted character, the final fight and his death just felt like any other Locust. He should’ve stayed alive for Gears 3
