Something I really loved about the color theory: when Chris meets Logan he’s wearing a blue ribbon in his hat, but almost at the same time the old lady gives him something wrapped in red, which enters Logan’s suit... enters inside of him. So, why would Jordan want to do that? Easy, because when Logan receives the flashlight from Chris, he starts to bleed from his nose, the red is exiting his body and now he is really him. Also, the red sweater from Rose (a beautiful RED flower that can hurt you) and the blue shirt from Chris (Christ, that’s the part of Chris in all of this, he’s the liberator. Rose really hit me good😂I mean...I loved her in the movie. The whole time it sounded like she was the one that wasn’t racist in this totally racist family, and plus, I didn’t see Georgina’s original self in the pictures so when he’s like “GIMME THE KEYS!” and she’s fumbling I felt like she’s still not one of them. I though she was brainwashed like Georgina and Walter. And thennnn boom

Sad thing that the actress has stated annoys her, is fans trying to get her to say Rose's been hypnotized by her mother to do what she did. She considers it frustrating because they can't accept her cutesy woke behavior is an act, that shes perfected over multiple victims. During filming, to find out what kind of person she was playing, she asked Peele 'Would continue this if her parents died?' And was point blank told 'Yes', so she's aware of the character she's playing, and feels people trying to make her a victim in all this are missing the point of the character

What heightened the scare factor for me with this movie was that I studied psychology for a while and the idea of conditioning people without their knowledge always gets to me. I actually have a conditioned fight-or-flight response to certain bell chimes that just never went away (I consented to the experiment), but as soon as I saw Missy establish a trigger, my inner voice literally started screaming get out up to the sunken place scene.
@TimdeVisser864 жыл бұрын
One of the other metaphors in the movie is 'Buck' is also a word used to describe black men, and the fact that Chris uses a buck's head to kill Dean. Also I think the deer he kills is a doe, a female deer. Another reference to his mother? There are so many consistent motifs in this film. Visually, linguistically, thematically. A truly brilliant debut.
@powerpandas Жыл бұрын
In the beginning of the movie, he actually said something about accidentally going to a wrong place. He says the name of the lake where Rose and her family live. But said that he got turned around and now he’s in some creepy suburb. Total foreshadowing to what’s about to go down.
@Gyaradosage5 жыл бұрын
12:11 it’s subtle, but Mom Armitage has similar speech patterns, “No, no, no, no”, as a callback to Georgina’s first “no, no, no, no”. When you hang out with your parents, you tend to pick up their little quirks.

someone probably already pointed this out but when they hit the deer and chris walks out to see it, his shoes have blue laces. to everyone else it might just look like a style chose (with the primary blue coloring to red which is still symbolic) but it’s lace coding of shoes, especially docs. blue means anti-racism and anti-fascism and many more things (yellow also means this ). if his laces were any other color it would still mean something. for example red means neoNazism and pro fascism and again many more things. just a cool detail cuz of how colors play into this film
@sturm90873 жыл бұрын
I’m just curious in what way does blue mean anti racism and anti fascism while red means neonazism?
@conspiracypanda12002 жыл бұрын
@@sturm9087 I'm months late to a question asked of a 2 year old comment, but I did some quick research on this. What it all seems to point to as an origin is England in the 80's. It started with reggae and ska, which started to have anti-racism messages more prominently in their music. This created a schism of skinheads where the racist ones broke off and listened exclusively to something else. These skinheads also decided to wear white laces to symbolize white power. The remaining skinheads, who still listened to the ska and reggae, got pissed that they were getting lumped in with the racists and started wearing yellow laces to say "hey! I'm not with them and I don't support them!" This subculture war then spread to the USA and other places, with the shoelace colours being adopted with them. Red does indeed stand for Nazis and NeoNazis because it originally meant the wearer had "spilled blood for the white race". After all, wearing white laces while you mob and kick a man to death = your laces are gonna get stained red. Blue, meanwhile, is interesting because it comes with multiple interpretations. It either means that the wearer has killed a cop/is anti-cop, or it could mean the wearer is anti-racist. Another interpretation claims that the wearer is sXe, a "Straight Edge", meaning they don't drink, smoke, do drugs, ect while doing their usual punk stuff. There was also an article I found about "nautical punks" who interpret blue laces as meaning the wearer had a friend die at sea. Tbh everything I look up about blue laces has people doubting the modern definition, but I think regardless of if it's true or not, the most well-known one one is the interpretation of the wearer being anti-cop or a cop killer.
@sturm90872 жыл бұрын
@@conspiracypanda1200 huh thats pretty interesting. So red and yellow laces were used by neonazis to separate each other from the different groups. The blue laces to me sound like an unrelated movement to the red and yellow laces of the neonazis. It sounds like something the black panthers in the US would have done although I don’t know if they actually did. Never would have suspected this all started over reggae music.
@Tavares0709 Жыл бұрын

The reason Dean hated dears so much saying “one down, another 100k to go” he hates the deer so much because people used to call black people “buck” and buck is another word for a deer. 4. When everyone is arriving to the party, walter greets some of the guests. He greets them because they are the grandpas old friends. What i’m saying is that this movie is a hugh brainfuck

13:44 I feel Peele missed on the opportunity for some dark humour regarding the keys. Since the theme is racism, racial envy and stereotyping, it would have been so easy for Jeremy to quip saying "Great Rose, you found the one out of a million that doesn't know how to hotwire a car."
