I love your channel and your videos but I have to object to this particular sponsorship as these companies are just scams. You can't legitimately buy land off them. The company isn't even registered in the UK, only based in Hong Kong so they have no real hold over land they claim to buy. All your getting is a £50 certificate claiming you own it, that's all. Again, I'm not attacking you as I do enjoy your channel. It's just worrying the amount of people being sponsored by this when they have no official claim over anything in my country. Scotland is a beautiful country and these sites are just trying to make money over false pretenses.

The thing is, when Kratos says "I lay down my arms, Zeus, release me of this torment of my life." I believe he was being 100% honest in that this is what he really wants all along on the 3 first games. He wants to be able to go away, but at the same time he knows he can't. It was a game that was paced to perfection, taking you from one memorable moment to the next while never losing steam or running out of ideas. The level design was exceptional and super imaginative and still the high point of the series. The bosses were fantastic. The visuals, although dated now, from an artistic standpoint, still hold up. And the journey itself felt epic, with a great sense of scale. A true classic.

Just replayed this, used to love it but not so much now. Game feel is great, but there were problems. The exp economy was completely broken. Chest giving 50 exp where lowest upgrade is in the thousands. Magic usage was inconsistent. Spend almost all magic to kill a siren who rewards not enough for any skill besides a few bow shots. Magic was a luxury despite being half the things you can spend exp on. And glossing of the qte timings of the last Zeus fight. You needed the reaction speed of a god to complete it.

I'm finally going to comment on these God of War Wins videos. I was about 12 when God of War came out and my brother got it for PS2; it was the most brutal, and edgiest game we'd ever played. But what fascinated me was the story; for me, a game's true triumph is if it has a story that intrigues and moves me. Kratos was a tortured man who lost everything. And then he is tasked with the _impossible_ - killing a God; but not only that, the god he has a personal vendetta with. But all of it is not for the sake of revenge, but to instead find peace and relief from the nightmares that plague him. Even after succeeding in his task, the he learns the visions will not end and tries to escape to the sweet release of death. But it is then that he receives his ultimate reward; more than any thought possible...He becomes a literal God - and you realize that the title of the game is not about Ares, your enemy - but instead about Kratos, becoming the God of War. I believed that throughout the rest of time, Kratos would forever watch over men who marched into battle; no matter what, Kratos would be the one who oversaw it all, and that perhaps with Kratos' previous mortal perspective, war itself began to change to where humanity would be more willing to reject war. But even still, after that credit sequence, I waited in great anticipation for the day that Kratos would return... Waiting for God of War II was nearly _impossibly long._ But it finally came all those years ago and...I have to say that even after all this time, God of War II _still disappoints me._ Don't get me wrong, it is the single God of War Game that I have played the most times, so I don't _hate_ the game. But I do think in a lot of ways, it took God of War in a direction I did not care for. Don't get me wrong, a lot of this is built on my own personal biases, but I do think this game began a lot of negative connotations for this franchise... I guess it was my own misinterpretation of what happened. I didn't see what the Gods did as a _refusal_ to give Kratos relief from his nightmares, but more that they are literally _incapable_ of removing them. So making him the God of War was the only reward they could possibly give him that would make-up for their inability to free him. But I genuinely did believe that all of the other Olympian Gods _did_ want to help Kratos - why else would so many of them offer him their own powers and weapons to help him succeed? And why else would Zeus rescue him from the Underworld, _without_ revealing his identity to him? It came as such a jarring concept to me that - seemingly out of nowhere - all the allies you had in the first game would suddenly _turn on you_ like that. Compounding it is the change in character-design; it makes me feel like all these characters we thought we knew were replaced with a bunch of strangers who hated us. The only characters who look the same are Kratos, Athena and Ares (for now at least) - but seeing Athena in the flesh was just as jarring. I guess I imagined that after killing Ares and becoming the new God of War, Kratos' adventures would take him _outside_ of Greece, where he would face-off against the gods of _other_ pantheons. I had my suspicion that eventually the gods of Olympus would turn on Kratos, but I expected that to be the finale of the entire franchise - not the immediate sequel. Plus, I'm going to say it - the fact that Zeus was revealed to be Kratos' father back in the bonus movies from God of War 1, gets totally ignored in this game, really irritated me. Especially since, there's no true climactic moment in which it happens; and Kratos was already looking for revenge on Zeus for killing him; so there's no true build-up in Kratos going to confront him, as the father who abandoned him as a child, and is instead only ever about the fact that Zeus betrayed him. And it somewhat makes for a confusing narrative as, the games took Zeus' attempt at redemption - by being a kind and caring father - by rescuing Kratos from the Underworld, and then tramples all over it. Now don't get me wrong, I understand that the original God of War game presents the idea that this inevitable betrayal was coming. I mean, when you get down to it, Zeus was willing to betray Ares and let Kratos kill him; so much for believing in him being a kind and caring father figure. But still, God of War II was missing a _lot of context_ that is only ever explained in hindsight thanks to Chains of Olympus and Ghost of Sparta. Playing II immediately after 1 was confusing, cause it just seems like Kratos was just doing what he does, without the context that he's intentionally doing it to get back at the gods. However, in spite of all of that, the thing that upsets me most about God of War II, is because _this game ruined Kratos._ Y'know how for years, the common misconception was that Kratos was a blind killing machine, an unstoppable rage monster who only ever wants revenge? That interpretation is started by _this game_ whereas in God of War 1, the thought of Revenge barely crosses Kratos' mind. Yes, in the flashbacks, Kratos vows he will kill the God of War one day, but that was 10 years before the events of the game happened. By the time we meet Kratos in the game...he's exhausted; he just wants to sleep. And not once is it mentioned that revenge is on Kratos' mind; the task of killing Ares - when presented to him - doesn't excite him, so much as it seems the final challenge before he is finally freed from madness. But this game, every other word out of Kratos is how he's going to get back at Zeus. And Kratos' vengeance literally leads to the destruction of Greece - if not the whole world. And now, years later, God of War 2018 comes out, and everyone talks about how "deep" god of war is now, completely forgetting how deep and mature God of War 1 was. Because the sequels overshadowed the original, and ruined the titular character. Don't get me wrong, I've long since accepted that. But it still bothers me from time to time; because I felt that Kratos really deserved better. But every time he moves forward, the game developers force him to take a step back. And - I still haven't played 2018 yet - it seems like the game is putting Kratos in a position, where the Cycle begins _again._

Weird how that works. But that is the year (and winter) I got a love for Black Friday The Getaway, God of War 2, Yakuza 1 and 2 (and Yakuzas 1s terrific English Dub) and a few more games. I'm glad you covered GoW 1 and 2 finally man, it reminded me of a simpler time. Thanks for setting up this channel, for years I was hoping someone would and when ya did I was really overjoyed. 27:19, It’s fitting that the last thing focused on is the burning human city behind the Titans as they corner Olympus. Already we’re seeing the consequences on humanity that Kratos’ single-minded lust for revenge is bringing right under his nose. He may talk about honor when dealing with cowardly soldiers or scoff at the gods for their absurd and cruel ways of enforcing rules they don’t have to follow themselves, but he ultimately only ever cares about himself and how he was wronged and is taking that anger out on the entire world until there’s no one left for him to hate but himself.

The only legit plot hole I can think of with regards to the time travel is this: We see that Kratos brings Gaia to his present day timeline, as the effect that appears when Kratos sends them to the future appears around Gaia as well. We don't know that to be the case with Atlas, as I think he still holds Greece on his shoulders. But if Gaia is taken from the past, then that means he would never be revived in this game since Gaia wouldn't exist in the timeline until the the battle in the beginning of GOW3.

Actually, the time travel in this game breaks a big plot moment: how the heck was Gaia around to witness Kratos' story to that point and talk to him throughout the game if she had been removed from the timeline up to the end of the second game? And how does she recognize him when he goes back in time? Now, granted, in actual Greek myth if Gaia disappeared, the planet would disappear alongside her because she literally IS the Earth, but the games already ignore that so, whatevs.

When Cinemawins started the "whateverWins" trend, he said "Liking things is better than disliking things". After Covid, the current energy crisis and the political situation in general, we now more than ever need positivity and love instead of negativity and entitlement.

24:03 - Meryl? Why did you... In all seriousness it's cool to hear Debi Mae West voice outside of Metal Gear Solid 1 and 4, and outside of PS2/Wii version of Spider-Man 3 The Game, where she voiced some of gang members. Also, l would love to see Everything Great About Metal Gear Solid series, just saying.
