This channel is WAY better than CinemaSins. I'd much rather find out reasons why a movie is so loved, than find all the negative things about it. Sometimes, positivity is not a bad thing.

Well the thing is that CinemaSins was a channel that legitimately found flaws and pointed it out in a humorous fashion then make a friendly joke about what should happen like the HISHE channel. What it dissolved into is pandering to people who troll to troll sake and not check their distasteful comments in the fane base, hence the rise in popularity of other channels the directly challenge them or does the parallel opposite. What you have then is a childish (wait they have better manners) trollish base that basically runs around terrorizing other channels for simply not agreeing with them

21:11 I’d just like to point out that in ASL, the way to sign someone’s name is the first letter of their name and a special gesture to describe them. In the first two movies, the other apes were shown to refer to Caesar by signing a C over their foreheads, because of his intelligence, but in this scene, Maurice signs a C over his heart instead ❤️

According to IMDB: The final shot was originally Caesar's eyes closing for the last time, than a cut to black. After discussing the scene with Andy Serkis; Matt Reeves and Serkis decided the audience needed to see Caesar actually die, with Maurice stroking his leg to comfort him as he died. In addition, Maurice's final speech was originally written as sign language. While filming, Reeves decided it would add emotional resonance to the scene if Maurice spoke the words. As it would be the first time in the trilogy that his character talked.

4:24 As a general rule of thumb, horses can carry a rider that is about 20% of their weight. So if Luca and the other gorillas weigh 350lbs, they'd need horses that weigh about 1750lbs. Luckily there is a breed that more than meets this requirement: the Shire Horse, which can weigh anywhere from 1870lbs to 2430lbs

In the DVD commentary for War for the Planet of the Apes, co-Writer and Director Matt Reeves revealed that the filming of Caesar's final scene where he says goodbye to Maurice before he dies was extremely emotional for everybody involved. During filming, "pretty much everyone on the set" was weeping openly at the deeply touching acting of Andy Serkis and Karin Konoval. Serkis' mother & Reeves' father had both died during shooting.

An indirect reference to Malcolm and his family from Dawn was cut from the conversation between Caesar and the Colonel at Caesar's cage. According to the film's director Matt Reeves: *Malcolm was killed by the Colonel, trying to persuade him that Caesar and the apes could be trusted.*

I've always kinda wondered whether a lot of the appeal Maurice holds is due to the character being a big, strong, clever dude, who is portrayed by a little old grandmotherly black lady? The warmth, the gentleness definitely comes through in the movies. How much is due to the animators, how much is due to the mocap performance? Hard to say for sure. A pretty incredible achievement for all involved.

I only now noticed that Bad Ape has the best grasp of the spoke word out of all the apes in three movies. All of his lines are verbal and unlike the other apes, you don’t get the sense that speaking hurts or is uncomfortable. The spoken word sounds natural to him and that’s pretty impressive. Also let’s not everrrrr gloss over how incredibly life like this film looks. It’s so easy to forget that you’re looking at a fully computer generated image top to bottom as opposed to real apes.

It's the best animation I have ever seen. Hands down. Even Avatar, though it's on that level, has certain advantages such as completely creating the world as well. (Also, can't gloss over Andy Serkis either).

I saddens me that quite a few people missed out on these movies because they assumed they were just weird. I have many friends who never saw them believing them to not be serious movies, and that's such a shame because they are in fact amazing movies. Had the movies not been about apes the writing action and cinematography would easily carry it on its own, yet on top of that it has the unique hook of being about super realistic depictions of intelligent apes. Luckily most were able to look past it and they of course were pretty damn successful, but I honestly feel like they deserve even more.

War is absolutely my favourite of the trilogy, and it's for something that you only touched on here. Nova's relationship with the apes. Going from travelling with them out of necessity to becoming invested in their plight, joining the salute and getting her name (honestly amazed you missed out the "brave?" "BRAVE!" exchange between her and Maurice) is kind of the reverse of the decision to kill Koba. Koba made himself Not-Ape, Nova made herself Ape. In a way it's also a chance to do what Will did for Caesar, but Caesar's not in the right state of mind for it and so Maurice has to get the acceptance started (because he's the best like that). I'm also just easily persuaded by stories where someone is accepted as they are.

Speaking of Bay Area of the Apes, while the Simian Flu was definitely global, are there intelligent apes outside of North America? I can’t imagine Caesar’s crew crossed the Atlantic or Pacific.

Movies have become one of my favorite methods of consuming content because of this channel. It feels really good to just, like things. The person behind this channel also seems genuinely kind and, frankly not bigoted lol. It’s small but to me it matters a lot. Love the work you do and I think you’re swag mr movies. :3

Such a brilliant understandable review for a trilogy as perfect as this one. So lucky to have watched this before the new Apes movie that's about to release while knowing that it may be good, but it'll never be THIS good.

Hey I'm not sure if this is how you submit suggestions but here we go. I've been working my way through your body if work and thank you for magic sword and the in depth about Get Out. I'd suggest The Thirteenth Warrior. It's my favorite Viking movie that got a lot of hate from critics back in the day. Maybe bc imdb existed past 9/11 but having an Arab see the Northmen wasn't in vogue. It's great

Apes Together Strong was such a great score that was sprinkled throughout the film that gave that light hearted note in such a war heavy movie. First starting when we’re introduced to Nova that was the human element that kept Cesar not going full hatred towards humans. To then being in such an impactful moment where she aided Cesar in the cage giving him the motivation to keep going strong with the rest of the Apes. Was hoping this was going to be talked about more but there’s so much to love about the film and the trilogy so it can be easy to look over but such an important piece of the puzzle. One of favorite scores from a movie and by the legendary Michael giacchino. I hope we get more soft light hearted scores like this in whatever his next soundtracks are.
