The thing you experienced at the dentist is called depersonalization if you don't know. It's a form of dissociation that is a symptom of many mental illnesses. If you can I would advise talking about it with a therapist and/or inform yourself about tactics to calm it a little since it can get worse. Hope you are okay and wish you well.
