Don’t you just love it when they want something you make? It always melts my heart. Any child requesting me to make something for them, no matter how busy I am, I stop and get their request made. I figure it will keep them hooked on hand made, will make them want to learn and enjoy crafts throughout their life, and that I have a great relationship with them. I also love their imagination when they come to me asking for something they thought up and I work with them to create it. The sheer delight and awe on their faces just makes me so happy.

@shelleysmith4017 Oh yeah. Love when I get "orders in" from my tiny boss. Especially since they love it regardless and show it off to their friends. Only fifteen months into crocheting, so some stuff is still wonky. But, very much loved. Im always down to learn how to do a new stitch or make for them. My kids love and appreciate work that goes in handmade items. At fairs and convention, they love to admire people's work. Usually, it's our first stop. *Big craft house over here, as well.

My first project of the year is a tapestry tote bag. I used to hate doing tapestry crochet, but this time I find really fun. I recommend using only two colors, it's good for learning how to carry the yarn.

i would honestly recommend starting with a tapestry crochet project that doesn't have so many places where you're switching colors every stitch, that can get super tedious! that bug one is cool though but maybe not as a first project lol

Yeah, can confirm. I tried to make a super complicated strawberry design then give up. I tired tapestry again with making the “X” album cover (just had the right materials & bored at summer). And I actually liked it! Did another tapestry that’s more complicated. My recommendation: Do an Ed Sheeran album cover lol.

I feel like you could make such a cute decoration with those fish and a small glass bowl. Make a lid for the bowl and attach the fish with a string so it looks like it's swimming and you could add aquarium gravel and stuff!

I have made myself only work on a max of 2 projects at a time, abs have yarn ready for max of 4 projects stead of time, this doesn't include single ball projects. Eg currently on a modern granny square bomber jacket, and a massive blanket,, I do allow myself a handbag project like a hat. And I have yarn ready for a dress, an amigurumi puppy, and a sweater. This helps me to stop hoarding yarn..

I’ve made the lily cardigan! In the yellow color that’s in the example pic too. I rarely wear it because I wish I would’ve used a lighter weight yarn so make sure you follow the recommended yarn weight for that one and don’t think you’re smart like me and use a different weight and it’ll be fine lol.

i love how you said you hate weaving in ends and then immediately showed the big granny square blanket which would have a ton of ends to weave in lol take it from someone who spent the past year or so making a queen-size+ granny square blanket - it's A LOT of ends if you color change every row like shown in the photo. took me about an hour per square to weave in my ends and I had 18 large squares. i wove in my ends at the end of making every square so it was manageable, but its not lost on me that about 18 hours of my project was just weaving in ends

Since you like dolls, I very much recommend BJDs. I don’t necessarily mean the huge ones! You can get very affordable blind box ones that are 1/6 scale if you’d be looking for a smaller option. I have bjds in all sizes from 1/6 to 70cm tall, and the blind box 1/6 scale ones i have are between 20-30cm tall. The bigger, the easier to make for, though you can likely find a brand or art style that works in scaling with your style of making ❤️ For example, pennys box is more ‘chibi’ whilst UF doll are more slim, taller and less ‘chibi’.

Happy New Year I am at the moment crocheting my dream project. A storm warning flag blanket inspired by Hunter Hayes song storm warning. I'm a huge fan of Hunter Hayes and his music I am finally making a blanket of the storm warning flag into a Granny square blanket. Then as I looked at some new white yarn mom found at Goodwill for me I want to make a crochet paper airplane something again Hunter Hayes related so when I'm done with the storm warning blanket which I am documenting on my KZbin channel by the way so I'm having a blast doing this dream project of mine.

18:52 Same I started crochet in summer 2024 and I'm ok with making plushies and stuff BUT my cousin just asked me to make him a little sentret (it's a Pokémon for those who don't know) and since I can't find a pattern that suits the sprite he wants me to make I have to do it myself I've started it, it looks good so far The body is done and I've started the tail but I'm really kinda doing whatever with what I know but if I can finish it I think I'm gonna start and do my own (kind of) pattern this year I hope at least I can one day achieve the free from patterns

Your videos always give me way too meany ideas that I don't have time for 😂 But you did inspire me to make my own list of things I'd like to crochet, as in actually write it down and put it somewhere visible otherwise I'll just be browsing the internet for something when I feel like making something new (even though I already bought yarn for some saved projects😅).
