Great in-depth video. What's the advantage of the Flomatic 202 vs just a regulator beer keg tap? Is the output pressure too high for a beer tap?

In your first pictorial, you correctly point out that good carbonation is a COMBINATION of Cold Temperature, Pressure, and surface area. I wish you had gone on from there with your explanations.in relation to your system[s]. The one that most confuses, is that you have the incoming water at a small differential of the CO2 gas pressure. In your first picture, the 'pressure' referred to is the Highest Differential of the CO@ infusing gas, ABOVE whatever H2O pressure. Ideally up to 150 psi CO2 ( I use 56) over ambient (zero)a H20 pressure. That, along with COLD temperature (maintained until serving) and either agitation/or H2O "spray" provides surface area for the best infusion. Thanks.

Great overview. 👍 Check out kegland, they have a carbonator cap for the corny pony kegs. Basicly a keg lid with a water input and a float valve. The water pressure has to be higher than the co2. I only have my regulator set at 30psi not 100psi 😮

Awesome! I’ve never done any home-brew, so thanks for making this very complicated tech so easy to understand. QUESTION please! I want to dispense the seltzer into bottles and then quickly seal them to stop the co2 escaping (I want to carbonate home-made mineral water so that some stubborn minerals dissolve in there with the CO2). Any ideas? preferably into glass bottles, but maybe stainless bottles or beakers would work too.

@11:17 in that diagram, are 2 pumps necessary? Couldn't you move the mccann's pump to where the shureflow is and then just not use another pump?

I'm having trouble with a couple thoughts. If your water comes straight into the mccann's tank from the city, doesn't that mean it's still too warm? shouldn't it be cooled before entering the mccann's tank? The second thing is I am wondering if I could just use a mini fridge with a water pressure tank exactly like from a reverse osmosis system just minus the filtering stuff. If the city water goes into the fridge then straight to the water pressure tank then from there out to the pump then back into the fridge to the mccann's tank then so on... Or maybe city water to the pump then into the fridge to the water tank then to the mccann's tank although I don't know what kind of pressure the tank would output and also as mentioned before I don't know the temp of the water that should be entering the mccann's tank. I know you talked about water tanks exploding although I don't understand why that would happen as they should handle a certain amount of pressure correct? anyways I'm sure I don't understand something basic, if you could please help me understand.

So the second McCann's tank in the fridge has no electric to it and is only a float tank? This additional tank is for cold dispenser water in lieu of cold plate set up?

If I recall correctly, sporting goods store might not be the best option. Commercial CO2 tanks may employ additives that work well for sporting or equipment applications, but are not appropriate for human consumption. If you’re going to try this, source your CO2 from a brewing company or somewhere that provides food-grade CO2.

I just copied your system. Big Mac carbonator and a mini fridge. The holding tank is inside the fridge and the pump and gas cylinder is on the floor just outside the fridge What is your CO2 set at. At first I had it cranked up to 120psi and it blew apart the connections at the tap 😅. Wife wasn't too happy about the mess of water spraying everywhere but we got it buttoned back up.

Please help: I have 2 carbonators, 1 i bought used from a restaurant and the other i just bought brand new. My issue is when i purchased the used one, i took it apart to clean the water tank and it had a bunch of black flakes that dissolve when you press, i decided to purchase a brand new McCanns because didnt want to take a health risk, but i was so curious i pulled the floater off and low and behold there are black flakes on the bottom of a brand new unit. My water is filter with Reverse Osmosis. Im trying to understand if its residue from the pump, or the stainless tank.

Got my set up running and it works but it's not very carbonated. My water pressure is about 70psi and my co2 is set to 100. Did the carbonation increase when you installed the pressure regulator?
@ryanedwards4325

I figured I reply to my own comment 9 months latter hopefully this will spark a discussion probably not though. I installed a pressure regulator, and it didn't seem to affect the carbonation level at all. Increasing the co2 pressure seems to have a small effect but my regulator has a blow off valve if I turn it past about 130psi. I'm wasting my time here I need to find a home carbonator forum. Hello open void is anyone out there?

what's the drawback of just keeping the pump in the fridge? Would also be nice because it would stay quieter.
@chrispeel1827

As I understand it the pump could add heat to the fridge causing it to work harder and there is potential for humidity to form potentially damaging the motor or electronics

@@crazymk6 Sweet thanks for the info. Do you know what PSI your water pressure is? The reason I ask is that the carbonator lid videos say that you need water at 20+ PSI above what the CO2 is set to for it to work properly. Also, what size keg do you have the carbonator lid on? THANK YOU for all your help!!

How do you feel about this method? Is it worth doing it like this? I have a limited space and want to do an under the sink configuration. I don't really care if it comes out cold or not and I want to avoid refrigeration if it's possible. Will I just not get good carbonation from water the temperature from the tap? kzbin.info/www/bejne/jnqon5xsfNqbh7c

@@Bottleworksnet okay gotcha. So it's not that it has to be cold to get carbonated, it's that if it gets warm it decarbonates quickly?

Liquids at colder temperatures can absorb more gas. If you carbonate room temperature water it will be less fizzy to start vs cold water.
