As an 09'er, I'm embarrassed to say that I only realized today that your rank isn't your value as a human being, or something to be ashamed about. It's just a means of having you fight other people that are around your level, until you learn how to deal with the BS that players of that level (including yourself) usually do. I know that sounds obvious, but I always felt ashamed of being low rank and would just give up or never play ranked/online at all to avoid ever having to bear the shame of being low ranked lol. After spending 70+ hours in the game according to Steam (WT mode and some occasional rooms with friends), I finally found the courage to do my placements and got Iron 5. But for some reason, I feel...good about it? Because now I understand that the matches I'll have are the ones I'm supposed to have. The lessons I need to learn are much more fundamental and less abstract at this level, and at the same time I don't have to feel guilty about wasting a far better player's time. Now that I've found that realization, I feel like Ryu finally shaking off the satsui lol. I can finally, actually learn fighting games "for real" now 🤣 Sick music choice with the Tekken Tag Tournament ending OST! Thanks for the vids as always Andy

Congrats on your choice! I noticed the more you worry about your rank the more you lose and also the less you enjoy the game. Just focus on improving and having fun and the rank will go up naturally.

You're not correct about drive rush first button being negative, it is often plus. DR basically adds frame advantage regardless of hit or block. So if you're gonna contest after blocking you really shouldn't do it on the first button, the next attacks will have normal frame data, though.

If Ken is throwing raw Dragonlash to get in and start pressure, Manon can use 3HK to beat it and swap sides (or trade with it if your timing is off). The button also beats (or trades with) a lot of other airborn-at-ground-level moves, such as Ken's Tatsumaki Senpukyaku and Marisa's Phalanx. I'm new to FG, but it feels like people may be sleeping on the utility of this admittedly awkward command normal.

As a ken main raw Dragonlash is risky. DI can usually punish it for a free combo and sometimes anti air can too.

I love your channel because seeing you being close to my skill level (just made it to Platinum 2) having the same struggles is really entertaining and insightful. I‘m also still baffled about some of the one trick ponies in Platinum. I still lose to more of them then I should (lol) but some are so blatantly one dimensional that I‘m losing confidence that me being at that rank does really mean anything. Maybe it means I really also belong there cause I‘m a scrub… as you hinted towards 😂😂😂

I'm at Gold 2 or 3 with all of my mains and I'm just losing the drive to push through because it takes so loooong. Sitting over 50% win rate, so I'm not struggling, but legit one rank in gold will take an entire play session of several hours. Thinking about how there's no win-streak bonus in Platinum and up just fills me with dread.

I kept pushing and am working my way into Gold 5. I would probably be Platinum already, but I take time off between sessions. I started to incorporate Drive Rush more into my gameplan and have seen a lot of success with that.

Just yesterday I learned a few oki setups for Manon. For after medium tatsu (balerina kick) and after hit grab. After tatsu you can raw rush into 5HP for meaty, and it ain't punishable by DI. You can block or DI back though HP ain't special cancelable. Rush 5HP links into 5LK. Can take it from there to loop the pressure. Or raw rush into grab, which does lose to wake up jab. For hit grab can raw rush with 2MP for meatie, other part is essentially same. Funnily enough, raw rush on oki can mess up opponent's wake up invincible input. Momochi explained it in depth, I just didn't quite understand the mechanics.
@azn6k Жыл бұрын
What do you mean by Raw Rush ? doing a dash straight after light tatsu and then press 5HP? or straight away going for 5HP?
@tacticsogreman Жыл бұрын
@@azn6k Raw as in not cancel drive rush. Drive rush the moment you get up after landing the balerina kick version. And immediately 5HP. You barely recover in time to block or DI back their wake up impact. Be careful though. Doing DI too early gives you the second hit of HP target combo and you get blown up. Also, my bad, light version hits low and you're right on top of them. I'll edit my first comment.

Too much truth in this video. I’m a low diamond high plat with 1 character and plat with 3 others all with over 250 matches each. I noticed that rotating characters greatly helped me understand the game mechanics better. For example i use Juri, you will be hard pressed not to learn and use drive rush. With Manon, I get to practice command grab distance and timing. With Ryu, he helped me hone in on counters and close/mid spacing. Practicing the other three characters helped me become more rounded with my main JP but in the end, I’m still trying to break my character habits and form better setups/reversals against opponents gimmicks

I picked beginner to start with. I mean, i had played some sf v before. But i was not a highly skilled player. Was like gold, i think. But i thought, i dont want to rank myself too high and then get screwed over and over again. So i finally started at iron. Even though i won almost all my placement games. I completely wiped the floor with my enemies. So i rushed up, do to win gamestreaks to gold, where i finally lost a game. In just a few days, i was platinum 1. That's where i landed. I am plat 2 now, almost plat 3, but i have to grind really hard in plat. What i wanted to say is, just go lower rather than to high and get demotivated. Sooner or later, you will be placed where you belong

I got to plat and thought i was stuck, suddenly in a week i got to PLAT 5, after a while your brain starts to see the patterns. Another factor is one thing i have noticed.. I play on XBOX, when i fight PC players most of them Counter Drive Impact almost every time and perfect parry is much more common. Not in XBOX, I suspect lots of people are cheating and get stuck in PLAT. I changed to XBOX players only and started winning more.

Something I've learned after getting Guile to low Plat is that I don't like playing as Guile and switched to Ken (lol). What's funny is that I entered high silver with Ken and have just been using Ken's one gimmick, the jinrai kicks. I washed all the players in silver and I'm in mid gold now and have now moved away from using that because people kinda figured out what to do. I'm just taking it slow now because I want to practice and get better and not really care about rank too much. There are specific situations I want to get better at rather than beating my opponents. I played SFV a lot but was only as good as mid gold, ranks in this game feel different and don't seem to directly translate. I think ranks in the lower area are going to be crazy all over the place because of the win streak bonuses. I also think the real game begins after you enter Platinum, because everyone is on the same playing field in terms of points and the grind becomes real. Random note: NGL I want capcom to buff Ken so I can stomp on people, not because he's bad or anything but because I like broken characters 😂. Make jinrai plus on block plz, thx.
