I am a huge Harley/Ivy shipper, and I'm fine with how things are ATM between them. A relationship doesn't need to be romantic to be deeply connected, emotional, and important. Plus, I would kind of at this point feel bad for kite man if he got dumped. The show made me for for him.
@bluester71774 жыл бұрын

@marlonbryanmunoznunez31794 жыл бұрын
When the series started Harley was such a mess that a relationship was the last thing she needed. She needed support, a friend to rely and that is what she got with Ivy. That said I'm also a huge Harley-Ivy shipper and would love to see them have a slow burn romance through the course of the series.
@OpreRoma4 жыл бұрын
They could end with a poly relationship, which would certainly be something new for popular media if portrayed well
@Arkayjiya4 жыл бұрын
"Plus, I would kind of at this point feel bad for kite man if he got dumped" Okay on one hand she doesn't necessarily need to dump Kite Man because Harley and Ivy aren't exclusive in most versions anyway. On the other hand, Kite Man seems like the monogamous kind so I'm not sure he'd take it. That being said, he could surprise me! Frankly I'm more worried about the fact that their relationship seems to be based entirely on Kite Man being a genuinely nice and supporting (if a little misguided) guy and that this is not enough to build a lasting romance with Ivy.

I love this show and I love hearing the enjoyment in your voice when talking about it! Now, as a Jew, I'm a bit surprised to hear the show has been accused of anti-Semitism. It's actually quite refreshing to be represented in superhero media, because... we rarely are? Which is weird since basically all of the major superheros were created by Jews, but virtually none of them are, especially in the movies (looking at you, Marvel - where all the Jews at?) I'm also wondering (though I wouldn't go as far as actively seek it) how all the reactionary comic book guys feel about this show. On one hand, it's got everything they want: gratuitous violence and gore, edgy humor, cartoon ladies in, errr... skimpy outfits... And it's even more "comic book accurate" than other medias in a way. But on the other hand... I mean they gotta hate all the blatant leftist politics, right?

What I really like about the show is that it would be great even if it wasn't a comic book show. It's not reliant on comic book references and jokes to be funny. There are tons of jokes that are funny on their own. For example, one of my favorite jokes was when Ivy kills a tree monster, she looks at the rings and says, "oh god, it was just a kid." Also, you make fun of DC Universe but with the exception of Titans, all their shows have been good. Doom Patrol was amazing. Young Justice season 3 was great, despite budget cuts. Swamp Thing was great, and it sucks that it was canceled. Now we have Harley Quinn. So 3 of the 4 original DC universe shows, 4 out of 5 if you count Young Justice, have been good.

And I really appreciate how the show doesn't turn Batman into a complete and utter asshole like I was worried it was going to do, so many people have been trying to push that lately and I'm already sick of it. Also, who would have ever thought that Kaley Cuoco would have been such a good fit for Harley, but she does such an amazing job! If you want more Harley content, I can't recommend Birds of Prey enough! When I first heard about this show and saw Harley's character design, I wasn't very enthusiastic, thinking it would be yet another piece of media that reduces her to not much more than a sex doll and glorifies her twisted obsession with and dependence on the Joker. I was going to give it a hard pass, but then I watched this video, and based on your recommendation alone I went and binged the series. Best. Decision. Ever. This is now one of my favorite animated series to come out in *years*, and the way they handled Harley's character--as well as all the other characters--was a much needed breath of fresh air. I always say a show is amazing when I can't pick just one favorite character, and I'd be hard pressed to narrow it down to even a top 5 in this instance. Even the design of Harley's outfit, which I resisted at first because I preferred her classic look and it gave me bad flashbacks to Suicide Squad Harley, made perfect sense in context and ended up being a relevant symbol of her liberation. I can't thank you enough for making me give this show a chance. Season 2 honestly can't come out fast enough for me. Hell yeah!

It's beatifully drawn with some of the best character design ever and facial expressions that are (Chef Kiss!). 3 issues beginning to end. P.S. Her relationship with Ivy is sketched, but not fully developed here. That's for future installments. What I love most about this show (other than the fact that it's hilarious) is that Harley breaking up with the Joker is becoming more and more "canon". Just a few years ago being "the Joker's girlfriend" was Herley's defining characteristic, now in this series, in Birds of prey and even in the comics her ex-boyfriend is essentially the inciting incident of her own story. Her break up with the Joker is the equivalent to the death of Bruce's parents, an event that pushes her over the edge and kick starts her story.

Thanks so much. I wrote this show off when the trailer highlighted the first Batman/Gordon/Harley interaction ("he ****s bats"), and it turned me right off. But the trailer was just bad, that scene in the show was actually hilarious. The trailer messed with the timing of it. It's so refreshing to see an adult cartoon both be crass and be... wholesome. It's amazing. I never thought you could mix them, and this show does it constantly. What a treat. Note: watched the show purely off of the title of the video and have come back after watching the first season (and a bit of season 2). I very much expected those spoilers, but still appreciate the warning.

A wonderful show if only for this interpretation of Poison Ivy which is incredible.

You forgot about the best incarnation of Bane ever written. He has only a few appearances here and there in Season 1, but Season 2 expanded his character and he's become everyone's favorite "cinnamon roll"... who breaks Batman when he gets angry.

The most recent episode of the second season took aim at the DC Tribalists. It made a point to be at odds with them. It was a little on the nose, but like you said, this show is really explicit with it's politics. It was also fun, cause it felt like the theme coming full circle after watching your series on the DC Universe films.

I gotta take up a friend's offer to borrow their whatever that DC stream service is. I seen clips advertising it and heard lots about it. I really love that Harley is getting layers and development of her character beyond just her falling in love with a joker who may not be good for her. She's got that poison ivy and other plucky misfits to back her up.

Just out of intrest how long do you think a series can generally good. Long being expressed in seasons.

@E I would agree with that... in general I believe 7 is the limit of any show. If you can't tell your story in seven years, something is wrong... exception being Dr.Who but they basically reboot every few years so I don't count that.

@@olandir I think WWE Raw is the only show that can legitimately claim to be great for over a decade. From the 1993 to 2006 was fucking golden in terms of consistency.

First season was great, I just hope the animation for the action scenes improves a little. I trust them to develop Harley & Ivy properly, the setup is there. Seeing them as a couple would be really fun and satisfying, but I have to admit that Ivy and Kite Man are actually pretty cute, too.

I've been catching clips of this show on KZbin, and this combined with what I've seen of Doom Patrol has actually got me interested in the DC streaming thing. Not sure if there's anything else on there worth my time and effort, but I think I might be paying for a month or two just to see both shows in their entirety.

I liked Harley's and Ivy's arc but it took so long to get there. It wouldn't have been so bad if the stuff in between was funnier. There are a lot missed jokes and I feel like not every crew member really has an arc, more like literally a few lines expositing how they've changed. I don't see Sy's jokes as offensive, just unfunny. Sy felt like a comedic relief character that didn't really add any comedic relief. I think the show kind of suffers from having such a packed cast that there really isn't time flesh out the relationships of the marginal cast or supporting characters and they instead have to become shallow conflicts that focus more on Harely's character growth over everyone else's. Yeah it's her show, I get it, but it the thin characterization and missed jokes stand out too much to me. I'm still glad the show got a second season. I know I'm being critical of the show, but I do enjoy it and I want to see more.
