The current trend for the past several years is to buy 20 million (a wee exaggeration) food, closet, drawer storage containers/baskets. Some people have probably spent over a $1000+ just for these storage containers. It’s crazy. Not to mention the majority of these items are made from plastic (off-gassing). Gosh we just used to use shoe boxes to store things in cupboards, or to provide dividers in drawers. Good for you in letting these items go. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻❤️

Shoe boxes, yes! And all sorts of other boxes if necessary. I keep an eye out for a good quality box and sometimes have to have a clear out just of the cardboard because it does accumulate and a box can still be clutter if it's not being put to good use!
@Amyavalon18442 ай бұрын
@@AmandaJYoungs Yes. Only keep what you are using… recycle the rest. The main thing is to declutter everything you no longer need/want first and then organize what’s left. Then you won’t need very many containers. Recently I was looking for a large basket to hold a faux fur throw that I have. Couldn’t find anything that I liked or that would fit in my space. Suddenly I thought to myself… hmmm if I didn’t have the throw (which I rarely use) then I wouldn’t need a basket to house it when I’m not using it. I decided not to get another basket/container.

This happened to me this week after my summer declutter. I then ended up finding 2 more piles worth. 😅

My doctor also told me to take the sun and expose a little bit for my skin to produce more melatonin to prepare for summer (or I'll burn as I'm very pale). In summer I put a lot of sunscreen but I never put it in Winter or daily basis 🤷🏻♀️ . My mum and grandparents used to put only the old blue Nivea cream and had perfect skin 💁🏻♀️😅 I understand your declutter. OMG the problems with containers 🫣😂 it's nice you're very conscious about why you declutter and what and take time to think of it and take note for next time. It's nice to think like this ☺️ Have a good day Lydia ♥️

Hello! My two cents about spf: where I live (Barcelona) many doctors recommend 15-20 minutes of direct sun exposure, no sunscreen or any kind of protection, even in the summer. Face and arms, it doesn't have to be the whole body. BUT it must be done early in the morning, between 8 and 10am max. It is also ok to go out without protection if you are running a quick errand, and / or stay mostly in the shade. We NEED some sun everybody 😊

@SagelifeMinimalismАй бұрын
I’ve used it many times before and it’s great..you could use it every day yes. It only requires a little bit. I always buy it, from the summer through to winter months. And it’s only in the depths of winter I normally just go for normal moisturiser, just because I’m normally wrapped up in many layers 😂

Out today is my Soda stream with two special half litre plastic bottles which have to be used with this over tall appliance. plus three gas cartridges which are impossible to exchange except for in the height of summer, necessitating in full price replacements. ❤

Hello, I really like your videos!!! especially decluttering!!! I was wondering: what do you do with the items you no longer want? do you sell them? how do you do it? do you have a video about this? Sorry for my English but I'm French ;-)) Thank you!!!!🤩🤩🤩
@SagelifeMinimalism2 ай бұрын
Thank You very much. Your English is perfect. I always try to sell first if the item is worth over about £20. I will try to list on fb, Or eBay or a site we have called Vinted. I use to allow about 3 months for things to sell. But this caused me quite abit of stress storing the things in our small home until they sold. So now I have a 30 day rule. Unless the item is worth over £100. Then I will wait a little longer. At the cut off date. I donate it to the local animal charity shop. Where all proceeds go towards helping animals. Sometimes I also offer things to friends to see if they want it. Nothing is hardly ever thrown in the bin. Even food jars 🫙 I have saved for projects that had things like jam in 😂 I make sure I recycle ♻️. The glass storage containers in this video will go to charity 😊

@@SagelifeMinimalism Thank you very much for your response!!! It's a very interesting rule indeed. I also sell on Vinted and it's painful to have this business stock. I will try to change that! Thank you for your valuable advice! and for the flour, where are you going to put it? if you no longer have a jar? nice day!🤩

You may of course choose not to worry about sunscreen much here in the UK, but we are still advised by dermatologists to wear *minimum* SPF 15, and that applies all year round. The NHS website actually recommends SPF 30, and that's even on a cloudy day. I think this is too important a piece of information not to point out to you, although of course you'll do what you want to do about it, or not. 🙂

It’s so strange though isn’t it as we get 2 sets of information 🤔 As I suffer from vitamin d deficiency even though they know I previously had skin cancer on my neck… My doctor told me to sit out in daylight in the winter for at least 15 - 30 minutes? Apparently because the uv is not as strong in winter in the uk. I’ve read this info elsewhere too. When they told me I thought that would be difficult for most people anyway to sit out in the daylight. As it’s dark when many people leave for work in the uk at 8am and dark returning home at 5pm in the winter. I have always worn spf 15 in my tinted moisturiser. But was considering not to for the first time because of this information the doctor 👩⚕️ told me?
@AmandaJYoungs2 ай бұрын
Please, only go without sunscreen if your doctor has specifically said you don't need to wear it in winter. If you have been given contradictory information, please make contact and ask your skin doctor for clarification - or your GP, if you trust them on skin issues. It's too important to take any chances with, especially given a previous case of skin cancer. I also have a Vitamin D deficiency, if untreated, on account of not going out at all for large parts of the year, LOL! - I think in the UK, many of us are going about our lives without any idea that we might well be deficient. Are you really going to sit out in the midst of winter for 15-30 minutes? I'm not! Doctors can be so impractical. I'm indoors, clutching the radiator like it's my new best friend! I use supplementation for Vitamin D, all year round (I don't go out much even in summer). But sunscreen is really important and yes, it really doesn't help much when we are given information that appears to be contradicted by the next new study results, and then contradicted again. It's a bit of a nightmare trying to take good care of our health, isn't it?!
@SagelifeMinimalism2 ай бұрын
@AmandaJYoungs 😂 😂 it is yes. No I definitely wouldn’t be sitting out in it. Rather walking too and from the grocery store with no spf on my face lol in hope I get some vitamin D. It was my GP that said this to me - to try to get out in it for at least 15 minutes 😊 I take vitamin D supplements also but I have a condition where my body doesn’t easily absorb or convert it.

As someone who has had melanoma 20 years ago and never gotten it again, I believe the sun is not the *cause* of skin cancer. Rather, it's the food we're eating. We've been living with the sun since we've existed; we've been eating crappy modern food for about 100 years. Hint: it's the seed oils (plus fear of meat [bioavailable nutrients]) that leads to more skin cancer cases. As someone who actually had melanoma, this is what I'm avoiding to not get it again. I wear less sunscreen now than I did when I got it (I wore it daily then). Melanoma is known to appear in places that are not even exposed to the sun, so why are we blaming the sun and wearing more chemicals? To be clear - I'm not against sunscreen entirely. But if you look up people who stop eating seed oils, they suddenly stop burning or experiencing any sensitivity to the sun. I have experienced the same thing. If melanoma was actually caused by sun exposure, I certainly would have gotten it again in the last 20 years.

@NoOctopuss I think there is no hard fast rule for everyone as the opposite happened to me. When I was very young I didn’t wear sunscreen and got skin cancer on my neck. I have always eaten a varied healthy diet. Especially foods containing vitamin E. yet I got it anyway. Then I became very careful from my later teenage years onwards about wearing sunscreen. Some people may just be predisposed to it and so have to do what is right for them. 😊 🧴

Not sure if you’re from the uk but in the north of England many of us suffer from vitamin d deficiency from lack of sunlight in the winter. There is sometimes only 6 hours of daylight. Which is whilst many people are at work. I read several recent studies that said it’s because so few people go out in the cold rainy weather that is overcast with clouds. That for the 30 minutes you might be out when temperatures are -2 and cloudy. There is barely any sun to protect from. As I suffer from vitamin D deficiency I do believe in having at least 15 -30 minutes of daylight without spf in the winter in England. It would be different if I lived somewhere else.
