In 1970 I dedicated this song to my father , he past away at 46 years old, I was 17.... I'm 65 years old, and to this day I still cry tears of love for him and for my mothers loss, EVERY TIME I HEAR THIS SONG.

My dad just past at 63 when I was 37. I played this at his funeral too. I felt selecting the music was a big responsibility. I was asked to pick three songs, besides this one, I chose Simple Man and I can only imagine. Todays his birthday, I miss him so much. I'm sorry you lost your dad so young. I lost my mom when I was 3.

I love that there is another mom out there who thinks of their son when hearing this beautiful, beautiful song ... every single time I hear it, I think of him and how deeply I love him (he's 31 now, but - as you clearly know - they are always our babies in our hearts - AND that we would "give everything" for them. :)

This is the very 1st song that I heard, after my Uncle JT passed away from cancer on May 6th 1981. I got tears in my eyes that day, and when I still hear this song I still do today. Was like a big brother, and our family lost him at 46 years old.

I lost my dad in 2016 at age 92. Yesterday I was driving and this song came on the radio and I was so overcome I pulled over into a parking lot and starting weeping uncontrollably. God, how I miss my dad so much. I don't know if I will ever get over losing him.

I am a 64 year old woman now, but the pain of losing loved ones, especially in unexpected terrible ways, stays with you all of your life. My mother committed suicide when I was 13, my sister was murdered when I was 38, she was 40. No one ever truly knows the depths of one’s love for another person until they are gone. I did not get along with my sister when she was alive, but I have grieved for her ever since her death. I never realized how much she meant to me until she was gone. This song brings back those memories. I would give everything I own just to see them and tell them that I love them.

Everything I Own Canção de Bread You sheltered me from harm Kept me warm, kept me warm You gave my life to me Set me free, set me free The finest years I ever knew Were all the years I had with you And I would give anything I own I'd give up my life, my heart, my home I would give everything I own Just to have you back again You taught me how to love What it's of, what it's of You never said too much But still you showed the way And I knew from watching you Nobody else could ever know The part of me that can't let go And I would give anything I own I'd give up my life, my heart, my home I would give everything I own Just to have you back again Is there someone you know Your loving them so But taking them all for granted? You may lose them one day Someone takes them away And they don't hear the words you long to say I would give anything I own I'd give up my life, my heart, my home I would give everything I own Just to have you back again Just to touch you once again

Did anyone see this song was featured on the NBC show "This is Us" Febuary 23, 2021... Great song - Great show . Writers: above Jimmy Page and Robert Plant - I think thats a typo. I believe the song was writen by David Gates. From A-Z Lyrics - Writer(s): Gates David Ashworth David Gates, the writer of 'Everything I Own', revealed that the song had been written about the death of his father. This song peaked at number 5 on US charts in 1972.

CORRECTION: "Everything I Own," was not written the legendary Jimmy Page and Robert Plant of Led Zeppelin fame, but by David Gates, cheif writer, singer and guitarist for Bread. It was released in 1972 on the album, Baby I'm-a Want You.
