11 years ago, I had this song as the father-daughter dance at my wedding. We'd listen to James Taylor on our road trips and in the family room all the time. So this song was really special. I almost lost him this year to heart attack, but it was caught in time for surgery. I was able to make it in to town with my family to see him beforehand. He's recovered and doing so well. When he called out my name, I came running.

Today is my Aunt's birthday. She passed away from cancer several years ago but she will always live on in my family's hearts through this song. Back in the 80's when my mother was moving to America and didn't know anyone other than my father. My aunt sent her a cassette tape recording of her singing this song for my mom. It will always bring a smile to my face. Life maybe hard sometimes but just remember that you got a friend. Be the light you want to see in the world. ❤️🕯️❤

Not quite before your time. You would have been 6 or 7 when it came out. I was 8 when I heard it in the summer 1971.

This was our wedding song until she passed, it was also played at her funeral. I lost her in 2021 and it still kills me and our beautiful children everyday. Now 6 and 14 it's difficult and has been right through. Miss her so much.

I wish this was true. I wish I had that person. The good friends I remember from back in the day when we all listened to this have faded in the distance and gone. Nobody's gonna come running. Nice that there was once a time though...

I remember my ex wife singing this to our not yet born child at bedtime. Then she was born, Robina, and momma still sung it to her at bedtime. I would listen downstairs and hope I would never forget such a memory. What a blessing. ❤️

I first heard this song play in my future husband's truck in 1977. He sang along with the radio and I fell in love with both of them that day.

This was mine and my son's father's special song. We split up many years ago but reconnected in a very different way in 2019. He died in November 2021 at the age of 57 😢 This song will always remind me of him ♥️
This was very, very well performed. I don’t care what world you’re from.
