Edit: Cursed Bunny is translated from Korean not Japanese! I had it muddled with another book. I’m so sorry about that!

I reached my reading goal for the second time this year! Initially set for 14 and then 29 (I'm in first year uni so wanted to give myself low expectations), I have now set it to 52. My favourite books this month were In the Dreamhouse by Carmen Maria Mahcado, Razorblade Tears by SA Cosby and Pandora's Jar by Natalie Haynes. All were 5 stars and I loved them for very different reasons

oh, now that you commented about the mc on the book of night i cant unsee the fact that indeed its said that she is a badass rather than showing on the book! i knew something was off but i couldnt think exactly what it was - other than the confusing worldbuilding.

I want that Blake Crouch's book 😍 Oh no, I've got Book of Night on my TBR. I've never read any Holly Black (I think), but hopefully I'll enjoy this one 😊

Cursed Bunny was a bit of a mix for me too. I really liked one or two stories but overall really forgettable. I can’t wait to read Babel!

Congrats on such a good reading month! My own reading this month was very slow due to having so much going on at work but am still on track to meet my 35 book goal for the year. Masters of Death sounds good - I am reluctant to pick up The Atlas Six due to a suicide trigger warning I read but this sounds like a good way to still get my Olivie Blake fix.

I love seeing when a book can work for someone and not the other! I defs completely agree about it not being high epic ppl (including me sometimes hahaha) can think it reads younger when its just a different audience! I really need to read master artificer !

also thank you for the lil shout out!

Ahaha it used to be me calling everything younger if it wasn’t straight up epic in scale so calling past me out there too 😂 but I hear it a lot through work now and it’s really hard to define!

📚 I managed to read 5 books and listen to 2 more in June - which is a 2022 record for me! I don’t quite know how I managed it as I was also studying for an exam and making a craft project as a gift for a friend getting married at the weekend! 😅 not complaining though! Congrats on the great month you had

I really appreciate the discussion around adult books being called YA because they don't mats a certain vibe! Excellent reading month! 💓 📚

Great wrap up Ashleigh! I’m going to pick up Book of Night soon but I’ve barely heard any good things about it and I didn’t like The Cruel Prince 😩

Fabulous reviews, Ashleigh. I love how you explain and discuss your books - your enthusiasm is infectious 😊 12 books in a month is a lot! I think I read 8 but half of them were manga 😅 Very excited to read Babel and you are tempting me with Call’s series 😏 I literally finished If We Were Villains yesterday and it was a 5 ⭐️ read for me. My fave book from June was Watersong by Clarissa Goenawan - mystical, slightly surreal and haunting 🥰📚

I was aiming for 50 books this year. Halfway through the year, I've read... 13.

Read 10 books in June which was 2 more than pledged for Whateverthon. Yay me 😆. Illuminae was a 5⭐️ read. I also read Red Rising which wasn't quite a 5⭐️ but I'm looking forwarard to continuing both series' 📚

I read 4 books in June. Hoping to read a lot more in July. I just finished reading The Love Hypothesis a few hours ago. May need to reread that soon. I have mixed feelings about it cause I was struggling to really get into it. But it was like that with 3 other books I tried reading as well.

I have one last chapter to go for Nettle & Bone and then onto Book of Night which I'm trying to head into with an open mind but it's hard when everyone I follow has hated it 🫤
